what are your favorite and least favorite areas of working on your own junk?
plumbing, electrical, engine, suspension, transmission, brakes etc.

my favorite is suspension, least favorite is electrical and plumbing

yes i realize many of these may be intertwined

Electrical. The problem is I'm anal about good electrical jobs so when I do something with even a small ammount of wiring in it its like an all day project.

My favorite would be anything where I can cut and weld. A lot of times thats suspension stuff, but thats not exactally my favorite because sometimes its a bitch working under a truck. If I can do the job on a bench or whatever and bolt it on I'm enjoying myself all day long.

Anything with the brakes is usually a pain in the ass. I especially hate having to get fluid everywhere, then cleaning it up. That shit eats paint, and the fittings aren't exactly rust resistant.

We'll have to see how much I like body work. I've done it in the distant past, and have had great results. This time around, I'll have more access to sheet metal and my wire welder.

I hate body work. If it onvoves a sanding block or bondo, then someone else can do it :toothless

Used to hate electrical, but after basically re-wiring the whole truck i dont mind so much. Im with Mike on the cut/weld fab, i love doing that stuff.

I hate doing suspension work at the moment...due to my lack of pneumatic tools. I really enjoy electrical.

I HATE electrical troubleshooting, but i like adding electronics. I like pretty much everything else too, taking the 37's off and putting them back on sucks....

Favorite: Most Drivetrain and interior work, Electrical-but right now I'm working on getting faster/better at it. I'm anal about my electrical work when I can be.

NOT favorites: Exhaust and any kind of body work...none...

i hate trouble shooting electrical or anything under the dash..ever tried to take out an alarm wired in with speaker cable, miles of electrical tape, and not done according to the instructions. and now my horn doesnt work .

i like anything else really. body work it fine, im good with bondo..becuase im a plaster restorer for a living. i like cutting and welding but the next job it welding up holes in the floor and fender patches

Favorite is Engine.

Least favorite is Electrical. I hate having to clean off dirty wires to try and get the colors off them, follow them, or replace things that have been hacked by someone else.

I don't know jack about brakes and haven't taken any time to try and learn. I should just sit down and teach myself.

Least Favorite: Exhaust, Electrical, Bodywork

Most Favorite: Transmission overhaul/repair, Tune Up's, Brakes, Minor engine repair

Most favorite: designing, cutting steel, welding fabbing.

Least Favorite: Smog. I don't understand it well and my Bronco isn't passing now. I paid to re-register but failed the deadline for a re-smog. Now I gotta take it somewhere to see what's wrong then pay for another smog test. If I had time for it or cared as much it wouldn't be an issue but I have other priorities now so I don't have the same urge to get it fixed as before.

Least favorite would be trouble shooting problems and electrical wiring. Maybe body work, but I havent had to deal with that yet.


Favorite would be anything mechanical. I love ripping something apart and then putting it back together. I helped a buddy out with a pair of ball joints today and it was a blast.

really dreaded doing that on mine.......kept putting it off.when i finally went and changed 'em, it really wasn't that bad.

Most favorite areas, electrical and brake systems. Also, anything that doesnt have to do with bodywork.

Least favorite, bodywork and anything that requires engine and or transmission removal.

Most favorite- Dirty, nuts and bolts jobs. MOst stuff on the truck anyway.

Least favorite- electrical, I hate it.

favorite is most likely engine mechanical... maybe fab, it depends what it is

least fav... fixing malfunctioning parts... especially when its 2nd or 3rd time
