View Full Version : Alcohol free for three weeks.
POW-MIA 03-27-2008, 11:55 PM Well its been hard but I havent had a drop to drink in three weeks. Went from 2 30 packs of coors a day(yes a day every day) to nothing. Aint looking back. It all started out fun but then fun turned into anger and destroying hotel rooms and hurting myself and others in my life. I have almost no use of my right hand from all the shit I broke. Still got scars on my head from my angry alcohol fueled fits where I would headbut people and objects:beer. What made me decide to stop? Loosing the love of my life because of the idiot I had become. So anyone else gettin off the juice stay strong. Alcohol destroys peoples life. Live and learn is what I say. :beer<---(but not beer water)
GTRider245 03-27-2008, 11:57 PM Congrats and good luck on keeping it up.
stangmata 03-28-2008, 12:13 AM Congrats. I quit about a year ago. I'll have a few beers now, but much more controlled than I used to be.
Keep it up :thumbup
MikE2 03-28-2008, 12:19 AM 60 beers a day? I didn't think that was even possible. How did you even have time for that much beer with all the pissin' you'd have to do.

If you only drank for 8 hours each day.
60 beers / (8 hours * 60 minutes) = alcoholism
Scary.
90XLTpitbull 03-28-2008, 12:46 AM i am slowing down when i get home... not drinking every night like i used to... it isnt good for the wife and i because i get angry also and i dont plan on losing her anytime soon... good luck man...
Damn that's 2.5 beers per hour in a 24 hour period with no breaks or pass out time. If you drank for 12hrs straight everyday that's 5 bph or a beer every 12 minutes. Where did you work that gave you that much time to drink beer and paid you enough to afford it?:shocked
nc mack man 03-28-2008, 01:06 AM yea, it's about time to give it up. but damn cold turkey..
GOOD LUCK with it.. no turning back now dude..
you might wanna see a doctor, for the withdraw shit and stuff
highhorse78 03-28-2008, 01:07 AM :shockedWow Im surprised you could go from so much beer to no beer at all. Musta been hard. Good luck:thumbup
Meixter 03-28-2008, 01:11 AM Well done! :rockon
dan73 03-28-2008, 01:12 AM Congrats and good luck with it! Take support from friends and family whenever it's offered. Keep it out in the open and let them know you have a problem. Good people will help you get through it.
You're talking 60 beers a day!?!?!?! Man, I can down a six-pack on a daily basis, but I'm down for the count after. Six beers and I'm gonna take an eight hour nap. I cannot imagine ten times that!
POW-MIA 03-28-2008, 01:35 AM Lots of practice and lots of depression. Hell 95 cents a pound for cans I was making 3.00 back each day. Workers comp payed for my habit. Got hurt at work and then everything went downhill. Withdrawls depression anger..all stuff I should see a doctor for but all they will do is drug me up, hell id rather take care of it with support from family and friends rather than have a doctor tell me all the shit I do wrong. And i never broke it down and thought of it like you guys did, thats crazy. 60 fukkin beers a day. Id go into mcdonalds with a supersize cup full of beer and sit down and eat. Alcohol is some crazy shit.
Dave's Bronc 90 03-28-2008, 01:53 AM Congrats man. I hate that it took losing someone close to you to make it happen, but you've got to know that in the end it's the right thing to do. My family has been down the alcoholism road and trust me, it doesn't take you anywhere you want to go. My dad literally drank himself to death at the age of 45, and he wasn't drinking as much as you were. Cirrhosis is a damn ugly thing to watch your loved ones die from.
POW-MIA 03-28-2008, 02:00 AM Yeah its true what they say. You dont know what you got until its gone..havent heard a more true statement. I come from a long line of alcoholics. Never should have touched that first beer knowing what my family has been through. But hindsight is 20/20. I always say learn from your mistakes and use them to make better decisions for the future. Dont live in the past because thats a dark scary place to live all alone. Move on, move forward and better yourself. Because before you can love someone else you gotta love yourself. Shame it took so much hurt and alcohol to realise that.
96GreenMonster 03-28-2008, 07:19 AM 60 beers a day is alot. i know this guy who can house a case of 16oz's a day...but 60 thats really a problem

Shadofax 03-28-2008, 12:18 PM I still can't believe the 60 beers a day. That is a ton of beer. That's 420 beers in a week.
You should have just went to the beer store and bought a keg every other day.
I'm surprised you didn't switch over to liquor.
That's awesome that you've quit though. congrats.
miseroth 03-28-2008, 12:25 PM congrats.....your liver and wallet will thank you.:thumbup
Did not sound like his wallet had much to do with it..."Workers Comp payed for my habit..."
Hell he even made an extra $3 a day for all the free beer his work comp benefits were generating!
Makes you wonder if the drinking lead to your injury and work comp claim and free beer!
rogertc1 03-28-2008, 02:19 PM I cut back on higher alcohol % beers like Ice House or Steel and went to Hams, Schlitz, PBR or Old Style. I drink a 3 or 4 night before I eat and as i am cooking if I am not planning to going anywhere. Tried the light beers but I just drink more.
Just remember : In Heaven there is no beer.

the best words of advice I can give you is when you feel that you have been dry long enough that a couple drinks is ok. dont do it
