I was just wondering how many Bronc owners were from Iowa.

Is there anywhere cool to go in this boring state?

I'm sorry to say it but i'm from Ia. Down south near a tiny little dirt town called Lineville on Hwy 65. I live west of town, about 3/4 mile from Mo.. Ive worked up in your area digging in rural water lines, mostly in the story city to eldora area. Buried the water line in 50% pig shit. Thats the stankenest part of the world when they spread the crap on the fields. Driving up I 35 you hit the stank 10 to 15 miles south of story city. Theres no way in hell that can be healthy for the locals that have to breath that air day in and day out. If they ever get around to produceing methane from all that crap to fuel your average car or truck you will never have to worry about a fuel shortage. I'm sorry if that sounded like a rant but you have to agree that the factory hog production has gotten out of hand. Putting all that aside have you ever done business with Quick performance just north of ames? I had a 9" rear narrowed and some Mosier axles fitted there about 3 years ago for my 68 Mustang. They do a good job and the prices are not bad either. If anybody ever needs a 9" housing this guy's got hundreds of them piled up. I have 105 acres were I live that I drive around on when I get bored, but the same old trails get old after awhile. A friends uncle has 500 acres that we get together and do some trail driving on but haven't done that for maybe 3 of 4 years. The one thing nice about this area is that we have hills and timber to trail on other than that this area sucks. Over the past few years the big thing is to race 4/4s in mud bog contests and someday I plan to try that out myself, sounds like somthing fun and different.

I am from Cedar Rapids and I tell ya I wish that we had as much land that I was wheeling on in Texas for the summer. I was wondering if you all have a tailgate for a 89 eb that I could buy I would like it to have the heated window. If you have these parts please call me at 319-365-0964 Thanks for your time. Maybe we all can get together this summer and due some wheeling I think that it would be fun. :rockon :rebelflag :beer

Now,now I know y'all know about class B roads. You know, the ones with warning signs at the ends and bushes growing down the middle. Get a county map, and you will see them, they're the ones that don't show up on any other maps. My rig's too beat up for anything worse than gravel right now and I need to squeeze it along as a daily driver until I can buy something else. By-the-way, I'm in Fort Madison (right between Burlington and Keokuck on the river). Hopefully I can park my rig soon to do some subtantial work on her, but it will be a while before I can do any wheelin'.

sixtyeight-- would I be correct in guessing that you sold your land and are now living in Davis City???? Also anybody wanting to wheel needs to check out www.miobi.org , its a 4x4 club in the pella/newton/knoxville area mostly but members from all over the state. We mostly play on old mining grounds south of Knoxville. The website hasnt been worked on for a while, but you can check out the pictures to see the kind of wheeling we have available. If you are interested in joining and cant get anywhere from the website, just contact me.

That's all well and good, but it's embarrasing when you gotta ask some farmer to come pull you out.

I'm from Mount Ayr Iowa Rinngold county not to far from Lineville. I mud race a guthrie center, osceola, greenfield, princton MO, Lamoni, Winterset, Mount Ayr and sometime reasoner. Some of the tracks are courses and some of them are just plain straight through pits but the courses like the one I'm running tommorow in Osceola ar a blast. You guys should come watch or bring down a rig. Here is my website it tells a little bit about my Bronco and the tracks I race on I havent updated it for awhile but if someone wants a schedule just email me an I will send you one. http://www.geocities.com/dredgeracing/dredgehomepage.html

Alot going on from this little state. Lol.

I have a buddy that runs Make It or Break It quite a bit. You ever seen a red jeep (square headlights) with 31/33-13.50 Swampers driven like crazy by a crazy guy named Josh? Yeah, I know him lol. I drive by there alot going back adn forth between my uncle's place in Pleasantville, and my college dorm room down in Centerville. Can't wait to go there after my SAS. Looks fun as hell. Also in the Cedar Rapids area alot too. Not a Bko though...but close enough ;).

Aren't Appanoose (Centerville) and Davis (bloomfield) counties the poorest in Iowa? they CAN'T afford to pave the roads.

i went up to a place were my buddy took his jeep (33" Mickey Thompsons and a 4" sus lift..) man ill tell you i had a hell of a time getting to the top of a few hills...one needed a good run and one needed 2 guys to push...haha...its a pretty cool place...probably not suppose to go back there but its still cool....ill admit that the bronco is doing a lot better than i ever expected...

my friend has a farm about half way inbetween ft madison and b-town were we go every other weekend or so....sometimes we bring some 4-wheelers down with us

oh, i'm going to silver lake this summer, and probably in the spring, but I still plan on bringing the bronco down to iowa, jsut not sure when yet. we should do a run, i would like to find some off road places around me to run, so i have an excuse to bring the bronco down here

Cbowman622
01-29-2007, 01:56 AM
yea theres stuff around here that is pretty challenging depending on what your driving...

"Beer can alley" 130th is a road that doesnt get maintained at all..and is pretty decent...but unless you can control real well i wouldnt because tires go in ruts on the sides of the roads that will sit your side up against more dirt and rock....

155th is a good one too when its not frozen solid...long mud road

"Triplage Road" 70th ave.....its not the road...its whats on the side of it (hills, hills, and a cornfield and trails

"King Kong Trails" a half ass creek runoff...always wet, currently frozen solid....usually real muddy...not so much challenging unless your running a stock dodge durango (dont ask, lol:goodfinge )

Sullivan Slough- consists of 3-4 trails...also frozen solid but VERY nice when wet

Davis' Farm- My friend Gabe's farm that has a cornfield and a creek (creek is fun to drive on at all time, except flood...haha,

Sharar's- My friend Jacks dads house that has a creek with a good sized mud pit...yayuh

but thats pretty much all around here...im waiting for the ground to thaw though to take my bronco offroading/mudding so i know whats up 8-)

big_ol_bronco78

awsome, i'll let you know when i get my bronco down here, maybe i can make a run with you

Cbowman622
01-30-2007, 04:10 AM
sounds good to me

but if i dont want to spend a lot of money right now would a body lift be the way to go?

and also would i want me and a few buddies to do it or have a mechanic do it

Cbowman622
01-30-2007, 04:13 AM
might i add that king kong trails is in the middle of the city but its still cool....and sullivan slough might piss off the DNR but ive heard they are pretty light

big_ol_bronco78
01-30-2007, 11:01 AM
i did the body lift first on my bronco. i know there will be plenty of anti-body lift guys out there, but i was on a limited budget and putting 3" of lift on for under 100 bucks sounded good to me. i did the lift with a couple of friends, but if it's pretty rusted, then it'll be a job. for me i wanted to jsut run 33s with plenty of clearance, also just wanted it up in the air a little more. i woudl go for it. but then again you can get 4" suspension lifts for around 500, but that's some work too to put in.

Cbowman622
01-31-2007, 02:47 AM
i found a 6" suspension lift from rough country for under $500 but thats not including other stuff i might need for the install...
but until i start making more money i guess its the body lift 8-)

big_ol_bronco78
01-31-2007, 10:34 AM
yeah, that's what i would do, especially if you have an overdrive tranny, you won't be able to run big tires and still use overdrive until you can do gears anyways, thats why i just did body lift and 33s, did everythign i wanted it to like that

Cbowman622
02-05-2007, 04:35 AM
ill prolly keep my 32" durangos on there till damn bald...but ill get the body lift hear with tax money....ill prolly have me and a few friends over and stick the body lift on there and unwrap the log chain and tow strap from my back bumper (log chain tightened into itself, then we wraped a tow strap around it to get me off a big snow pile (it got double knotted tot he log chain (WTF) but yea im looking into tow hooks for the front bumper...any suggestions on where to get them and how to install them? i had the front bumper off to install offroad lights so idk

big_ol_bronco78
02-05-2007, 11:15 AM
i got my tow hooks on ebay, then just put them in the hole where the sway bar use to be, then drilled two more holes. unfortunatly i'm in the same boat too, have cheap ol 31s for now until i can afford some bigger ones, i did have the 33s, like i said, but had to sell those to rebuild the trans

Cbowman622
02-07-2007, 05:38 AM
god damn iowa winter...i thought it was over with but nooo we get 3 more inches of snow
haha oh well it was fun to mess around in 8-)

but the sooner spring comes the sooner i can repaint my bronco with shit colored brown chunky substance
haha
oh and some trail driving

big_ol_bronco78
02-07-2007, 04:14 PM
yeah, i wish i had the bronco running so i could play in the snow. anyone on here close to me have a tranny jack i could borrow?

Martensdale here - just south of DSM.

Lots of great B-roads here, and one I know for sure would be a challenge right now with all the melting and run-off! Last year, it turned into a clay swamp and I had to go in and try to pull a stupid kid and his Blazer out of a ditch - on a hill!

Too bad that was before I got new tires....could have been fun.
