You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner,
locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges.
You're carrying a Smith & Wesson and you are an expert shot. You have mere
seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

Democrat's Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man
look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire
him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the
kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of
his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the gun have
an appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun and
what kind of message does this send to society and my children? Is it
possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to
kill me or would he just be content to wound me? If I were to grab his
knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? This
is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days
to try to come to a conclusion.

I guess you don't subscribe to the single bullet theory either?

I look at this way;depending on which pistol I am carrying at the time I will have anywhere from 5(S&W Jframe .38) to 53 rounds (S&W 5906 17rd and two spare 15rdclips and above .38 as a backup)there is a magic bullet. If it is the first one, great, second OK too. But if it's the 53rd, I'm shooting until the phucker stops. If none of those rounds do the trick, then someone is getting hit with a truck.

That's how I was taught too, and how I practice. But, we all know it doesn't always happen like that. My wife used to think I was nuts when would go shooting,and I would do that. But paper doesn't fight back.

I posted this before over in the gun thread...but here's my answer.
But as said in the first page of this thread. it doesn't matter how much practice you have, when (God forbid) you should ever have to use your weapon the situation is always different. It doesn't matter how much practice you have you can nver be prepared for all that happens in a situation like that.

:beer here's to hoping NONE OF US are EVER in a situation like that!

Is the wife insured???? becuase you are much more likely to convince a jury it was self defense if you let the thug kill the wife.

plus you can then uograde to a sporter model, and use the money for the Bronco
