MudMad 01-22-2004, 08:42 PM :goodfinge Just Kidding, I'm just wondering why no one out here goes wheeling. I haven't seen any trips out here in quite some time. Whaaaat, are we all waiting for, Raf? Well, that's OK, but I need my fix of wheeling. I see so many CLEAN Bronco's out here in the So. Ca. area, even after a rain, it makes me wonder if you boys or girls know how to engage your Bronco's into 4 wheel drive. I know some of you are broke down or just plain broke like me, but hey, I can even muster up some gas money to go out for a little trip somewhere. I called locopony yesterday and we are trying to plan a trip on Feb. 14th (Valentine's day) for those that love your mate, uh Bronco. It will be a early morning trip that hopefully won't Piss off your other love, heck we are bringing them along. We may go out to Drinkwater Flats in Santa Clarita or maybe just by the movie ranch, or hey, maybe head out to Gorman for some fun. I'd like to get dirty and hopefully get dirty w/some of you. Have a great day :chili:
Bronkzilla 01-22-2004, 08:52 PM My truck was supposed to be ready to get smogged last week but on a quick trip to autozone i broke a spider in the rear axle.. I never knew how hardcore i was till i was attempting a maneuver called "Exiting the parking lot".. BOOM... my diff is up north with jopes. He welded it and it should be back in LA soon. As soon as thats in i should be able to get it smogged, find some cheap insurance and pay off the registration.. i think i should be able to do a gorman run then.. if all goes well.. with my luck ill be saying the same thing this time next year.. :cry
locopny 01-22-2004, 10:07 PM mines still broke :cry :cry :cry :cry
B-man 01-23-2004, 12:04 AM Mine is ready to go. As much as it can be. I got some front end work to do. But, screw it. Beast is ready.. I haven't had any time cause of Work.. But, work = money for Beast. So, gotta do it..
I am game.
CoastalBronco 01-23-2004, 12:50 AM I'm game - just need to replace the fricking brake line that left a pool of brake fluid in the driveway this morning - thank God for the M.
Guess I'm wrenching this weekend, but i'm up for a run..
Chris85xlt 01-23-2004, 01:22 AM i still wheel... :thumbup
i've been wheeling almost every weekend. most of the time i'm up in Azusa. Couple weeks ago i was up in Big Bear trying to find some snow but only found ice. Running the Rock Garden is almost un-passable so we mostly ventured around. i was sliding and dodgeing trees (did hit one tree) most of the time. driving through the burnt up area with frost everywhere was kinda spooky haha.
i'm planning to go back up real soon after it rains alot. i like snow....
i should be up in Azusa this coming sunday
later,
Chris
burntPiston 01-23-2004, 12:37 PM Is Stinkwater open yet? Last I heard - still closed.
I'm up for a few hours that day...firm up the plans and re-post.
MudMad 01-23-2004, 03:01 PM Now we're talking. Some interest in a run. Raf, sorry to hear about that problem, (sound familiar) hahahaha, JK. Do you think it will be fixed before the 14th of FEB? That would be a great work-in run. I'll go by Drinkwater this weekend and check it out. Last time up their was a sign saying closed unless you have a day pass or whatever they call that thing here in CA. (Venture pass). Will let you all know. Raf, you can call me when you're ready for Insurance and I will see what I can do. I hope that you still have insurance on that thing, otherwise you're looking at quite a bit of mula for the 1st year. Let me know.
Andy351 01-23-2004, 03:37 PM mines down waiting for front gears. but assuming that i get the front done in the next couple of weeks, i am going to Johnson Valley in Feb, sliders and gears permitting...
i think its time we have a big cali get-to-gether. i think hollister would be good; its got mild to fairly wild and its pretty close to the middle for most people. i hear gormans not all that great and i don't know of any places in between LA andthe Bay Area that are good and not under snow right now.
CoastalBronco 01-23-2004, 04:56 PM Raf, you can call me when you're ready for Insurance and I will see what I can do. I hope that you still have insurance on that thing, otherwise you're looking at quite a bit of mula for the 1st year. Let me know.
Are you an insurance guy? I could use a much better rate on my M3..
HicBronco 01-23-2004, 05:01 PM i down for a trip :chili: havent really been able to test out the sas yet :cry
MudMad 01-23-2004, 06:18 PM Insurance guy, huh, umm, who me. Yeah, if that's what you want to call me. I'm a fully licensed auto/health/home agent for the Auto Club of So. Ca. We have lots of hills around the Santa Clarita area between Gorman and the 14 fwy. Rowher Flats its just down the street and you can wheel all the way back to Drinkwater Flats area. Haven't been out their in quite some time. I'd like to get a really big run going in April somewhere. I've done Hollister and it's a little too far for me for a weekend and not really challenging enough. I'm up for a Stoddard Valley or Johnson Valley run in April. Feb. is just to get out and have some fun for the day. It is VD Day after all and I should spent time w/the wife that night. That is if no one breaks down. I will try and check out some of the local areas around my house in Acton and between Gorman.
burntPiston 01-23-2004, 06:39 PM My buddy just stumbled on Rowher last week and said it's pretty good, he wants me to try it. It's 20 minutes from me, so I'll go anytime.
I'll do a day trip to Pismo, but that's about as far as I can commit to.
B-man 01-23-2004, 07:44 PM I will be hitting Kern River in April. Don't know where Hollister is, but, if it is too far for Mudmad, it is farther for me,...ehehee..
I am down for a screw around trip. Let me know.
Andy351 01-23-2004, 07:52 PM I'll do a day trip to Pismo, but that's about as far as I can commit to.
anytime you wanna come up let me know. i'll hook you up to some mad wikked crazy college party yo.
Andy351 01-23-2004, 07:55 PM I will be hitting Kern River in April. Don't know where Hollister is, but, if it is too far for Mudmad, it is farther for me,...ehehee..
I am down for a screw around trip. Let me know.
simi valley is in ventura county right? should be about 6 hours or so. its near gilroy, salinas, monterey up off the 101. it would be cool if that ever happened because hollister has some pretty good trails/obstacles. all the so-cal guys could stop at pismo on the way too.
MudMad 01-23-2004, 08:25 PM Hey burntpiston, where do you live? I'm in Acton about 15 min. from rowher flats. If anyone wants more info in this place just type in Rowher Flats in your search field and a lot of different sites come up w/pics and stuff about the trails their. Looks like it could be fun. Hollister is nice for a 2-3 day trip for me. 6 hours of driving is a lot one way, especially if I'm wheeling all day. Went to the MBB 2nd annual trip in Nov. of 2002. Lots of fun. I'm looking for fun here near my house. I will get more info as to where will be the place for the 14th of Feb. Get those rigs fixed and lets get busy.
locopny 01-23-2004, 10:20 PM I'm working on it....really
I need help....
on the truck too. :brownbag :toothless :histerica
I hopefully have it fixed to run well this weekend. hopefully it also fixes the trans at the same time
burntPiston 01-24-2004, 02:28 AM Hey burntpiston, where do you live?
I'm in the Valley.
Can you wheel at Vazquez? I thought I read somewhere that you could, but I've never seen anyone in there. I have a friend who's buying 50 acres in Acton...I'll be building a Bronco track there when it's ready ;)
Here's a pic a friend sent me of his buddies Lib at Rowher:

burntPiston 01-24-2004, 02:32 AM Andy, I'll take you up on the Pismo offer someday soon. Want to derb my truck out there real bad.
locopny 01-24-2004, 03:09 AM I'M FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got to see if the tranny is good to go now. a $19 FPR was one of the problems. Feb 14...hummmmmm....might need to get tires by then???
B-man 01-27-2004, 12:26 AM That Rowher place looks killer@!!! How far is that place from Ventura again? :shocked
2-1/2tonbronco 01-27-2004, 03:40 AM hey guys & gals come on up to Wa. there is ALWAYS good wheelin here. I'm straight up I-5
Chris85xlt 01-27-2004, 05:36 AM hey guys & gals come on up to Wa. there is ALWAYS good wheelin here. I'm straight up I-5
i dont think my bronco can go that far :brownbag
MudMad 01-27-2004, 01:00 PM Hey b-man it's only about 35-45 min from Simi, w/no traffic of course. Once you get on the 14 N you can take a few exits to get over to sierra hwy, but it's probably easier if you get off at sand canyon go up sand canyon N to sierra hwy and turn right. just follow that up about 5-7 miles and rowher flats is on the left hand side. I guess now that locopony is fixed we are definately going on the 14th. I will discuss a time to meet as I need to know how many are in. I guess around 9-9:30 would be alright, so we don't have to get up too early. We can meet right at the entrance of rowher flats. Will talk to you all later. PS, drinkwater is still closed, but you can wheel from rowher flats to drinkwater area.
burntPiston 01-27-2004, 02:57 PM The earlier the better for me.
MudMad 01-27-2004, 06:45 PM I'm gain for any time after 6 am as that's usually when I feed my horses. It only takes about 10-15 min. to do that so I'm up. Everyone let me know if 8am is OK. This way we can wheel and still have time to get back to our loved ones for the evening.
locopny 01-28-2004, 12:51 AM just trying to determine if work is calling on sat.morning.....
there is a possiblility
MudMad 01-28-2004, 12:42 PM Work, what in the world are you talking about. You promised, yeah I'm pouting. You'll just have to tell work that you already have work on that day. Besides, don't you want to show off your tire changing skills to you know who? I'm sure she would be very surprised how fast you can do it. No more I'm in, then I'm outs. Just tell it like it is, I'm whipped and I can't get out, or I don't care what she says, I'm going, but show up. WCW (West Coast Wussies). I'm starting a new site with that name. I'm sure we may loose 75% of the so-called wheelers here (in So. CA.) over to their. The site will consist of dates set to go wheeling, then everyone can say I'M IN, and then 1 or 2 may show up, but of course that's just to have breakfast and talk about what it would be like if only we went wheeling, like those guys on (FULLSIZE BRONCO). Now, who's in. I don't want to hear who's out. I'm having a 4 day weekend this weekend so I can make some plans otherwise if no one is going, but if at least 1 person wants to go, I'm in.
burntPiston 01-28-2004, 01:09 PM I will meet someone somewhere in Canyon Country between 8 and 9 am on Saturday Feb 14. How's that?
<mayFlake> If my truck breaks down between now and Feb 14 </mayFlake>
B-man 01-28-2004, 04:27 PM I will talk to the better half tonight. I wanna go , most definately. A Valentines Day Wheeling.. Sounds good.. New spot for me as well. woo hoo.
locopny 01-28-2004, 09:22 PM Besides, don't you want to show off your tire changing skills to you know who? I'm sure she would be very surprised how fast you can do it.
Like you think she hasn't seen that already??????????????????????????????????
It was on her car no less!!!!!!!! A match made in........he.......you know. :histerica :beer
now back to work....yes I'm still working! deal with it. :thumbup :wacko :drinkbud
MudMad 01-29-2004, 12:47 PM I will meet burntpiston and the B-man on the 14th of Feb. around 8-8:30am. That's how you respond. Thanks. Hey locopony, I'm sure she's happy w/how quick she's back on the road, thanks to all of your experience, hahaha. OK, the trip is on, we have 3, and everyone else is welcome to show up. I will get specific directions today or tomorrow. Whoooa!
burntPiston 01-29-2004, 02:20 PM What up Zilla, Chris85, Coastal (little far for a day trip), and Hic? Anyone else?
B-man 01-29-2004, 05:00 PM I am a go. I am gonna be bringing another friend with me as well. He has a Plymouth Trailduster, but, I "figured" that was okay. ehheeheheheheheh.. 8-8:30am sounds good Mudmad. Gonna be some fun.
