View Full Version : Camping w/ mild trails in NJ? Aikidoka 01-23-2004, 01:58 PM I'm looking for areas to camp in New Jersey that have mild off-roading nearby. Any suggestions? /==0=\ 01-23-2004, 02:17 PM nope, I don't know... but I see you're from maryland, welcome to tha club! drexelsteve 01-23-2004, 06:46 PM maybe in the pines somewhere??? miesk5 01-23-2004, 08:49 PM Fewer and fewer trails each year in the south. We used to go through the Pinies north of Hammonton/Green bank and towards the shore near the Mullica river, but development has choked that off. We tend to stay on the beach at Corson's Inlet (http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/feeschedule.htm#mobile) (yearly permit for mid-SEP to mid May). Atison (http://www.the-jersey-devil.com/atsion%2D9%2D2003/2/) may be ok for you. or Batso (http://www.off-road.com/4x4web/travels/pine-barrens.html) North of Hammonton and Batso again (http://www.discoweb.org/barrens505/) drexelsteve 01-25-2004, 04:36 AM seems like something we ought to look into for the summer. bnkrtstk 01-26-2004, 09:43 AM :stupid Just have to watch the open containers. ...and don't forget about the Jersey Devil :goodfinge SUPERJUNK 01-26-2004, 10:06 AM :stupid Just have to watch the open containers. ...and don't forget about the Jersey Devil :goodfinge Yeah,You might hit a bump and spill your beer :thumbup drexelsteve 01-26-2004, 01:27 PM Yeah,You might hit a bump and spill your beer :thumbup :histerica your f'd up :toothless bnkrtstk 01-26-2004, 02:43 PM Take a peak at this. http://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/wharton.html gators0204 01-26-2004, 02:51 PM doesnt say anything about 4wheelin :shrug bnkrtstk 01-26-2004, 03:00 PM doesnt say anything about 4wheelin :shrug I know, but it's legal as long as the vehicle is legal. As long as your not acting like an a-hole and are on 'established roads' you're good. gators0204 01-26-2004, 03:25 PM I know its ok, just was hoping they had some 4wheelin info/trail info. bnkrtstk 01-26-2004, 03:28 PM I know its ok, just was hoping they had some 4wheelin info/trail info. This site has some more info on the Pines. http://www.the-jersey-devil.com/bbs/ubbthreads.php bnkrtstk 01-26-2004, 03:34 PM There is one campsite I remember passing that was just off the trail, and very close to a canoe launch ramp. It is primitive with pit toilets, I'm fine with that, if everyone else is. gators0204 01-26-2004, 03:56 PM I could take a dump in the sand, bury it and be fine with that. bnkrtstk 01-26-2004, 04:07 PM I could take a dump in the sand, bury it and be fine with that. I have a portable camp toilet I take for the wife and kids, it has a bellows pump to flush it. It works great for wheeling too. Accessory Man 01-26-2004, 05:50 PM I know, but it's legal as long as the vehicle is legal. As long as your not acting like an a-hole and are on 'established roads' you're good. It's like the people's repulic of NJ, you need a permit to purchase a handgun, firearms ID card, and it's next to impossible to get a carry permit. Unlike PA where anyone over 21 that passes a background check can attain a permit to carry, and buying one is a no muss no fuss process. You oick the gun you want, fill out the paperwork, the shop makes a phone call(background check), if you're clean you walk out with the gun. |
