Hey guys-

I've poked my head in here a few times, but I'm by no stretch a regular. I love the site and I love everything you guys do around here. :toothless

Anywho, the clutch is giving way on my '96 (was at a dead stop and it was grinding going into first). I was wondering if there is a shop in the area you guys could recommend for getting it replaced. As always, price is an important factor, as is a quality job.

Thanks!

It would help if you gave us an idea where you are. If you are in Utah or Montana my shop near north Denver will not help you much.

it wouldn't be too bad to do it yourself

I've done it before on a 1F toyota engine off an FJ40 Landcruiser, but the size difference of that 3-Speed and the 5-speed on the bronco is pretty imposing. Anybody know of a good write-up on a clutch replacement on a bronco? I've searched the forums to no avail.

wileec- I wouldn't mind heading north for a good shop, what's the place's name?

Guys that did mine seem to be missing from the list.:scratchhe If you have the place and time maybe a day doing it your self is not to bad. And ALOT cheaper.

Get a transmission jack from HF and do it yourself. Also there are several folks in the Front Range area who will offer assistance, tools, advice and drink your beer if you give advance notice.

Thanks Aurorabusa:thumbup, I just got off the phone with John and we're dropping it off Friday. He seems to really know his stuff. btw - TheBoomBoom is my son and the Bronco is the same one I took up to Bill Moore with you all late last summer. It's his daily driver for now, but still my truck.

As much as I'd like to try and do this with my son we are also spending a bunch of time working on a 1971 FJ40 project we picked up in December. We still have to get our sliders (from the Colorado group buy) mounted up...

william ace, thanks for the link. I had reviewed that as part of grappling with do it myself or take it out. It is an excellent link for those looking to do this job themselves.

Rodney, I just picked it up from John's place and am very pleased with his work. The truck is running great. Based upon my experience, I would recommend John's shop as well.
