First of all manythanks to Mark for the winch write up. I am 90% of the way done. I do however have a question for either Mark or Aurorabusa, How did you determine where to cut the hole for the fairlead? The top makes sence but the front is baffling me.

In other words HELP:whiteflag

I just kinda measured it,cut it too small, and probably cut it 5 more times to fit but my cutting was easy with a plasma cutter.I got everything to look good and then took the bumper back off and left it off!!!
I think it looks cool without it but it looked good with it on as well:beer

I think mine looks good without and the i series winch just fits under the grill. I am also concidering changing from a roler to a Hawse one so that when I change to a rope I do not have a big hole left over. But I also like the way yours looked with the bumper on.

The hawse you'd want IIRC would be aluminum as well (for rope).

Honestly it's been a few years at this point Matt and I don't remember on the hole cutting. I think I pretty much just put the bumper up there, did a little quick measuring and then hacked it up with the skil saw. I was in a hurry to finish since that day I was supposed to be headed up to Washington state for Broncofest.

I'm at the house today if you wanna stop by and take a looksee.

I get married this weekend as well (which is why I have not been keeping up with stuff on here as much).:rockon:drinkbud:beer

make sure you post up a bunch of pics. I wanna see how you get that intergrated solenoid model to fit.

I will get some photos together as soon as I get all the black metal shavings off everthing in my garage, siht that stuff makes a mess. Unfortunatly I am tied up this afternoon but I will keep at the bumper not sure that I can spend the extra $$$ on a new fairlead but I really do want to switch to rope, so I might have to. That way I do not have a 6" tall hole in my bumper around a 1.5" fairlead, saw a composit one over at pirate that sounds real nice, if you have rope. The intreqrated selinoid required just a little bit of a bend on that tab that hangs down off the metal facia and a cutout to plug the control cable into.

GOOD LUCK and have FUN at your wedding:beer:beer

Hey wileec, I installed the bumper over the winch as it should be and I drilled a hole in an area I knew I would be cutting out and where I thought the fairlead bolt would be , I was able to make measurements and adjust from there before I made big cuts. When I did cut it out I made it on the smaller size, tested fitted and made small cuts or grinding to make perfect.

Does this make any since?

Heres some more pics

Thanks Boss I remember looking at your build way back but went to Marks just like you did. You However have the same bumper that I do so I find the final bumper pictures very helpful. I think if I can sell my old push bar I am going to go ahead and buy a synthetic rope and fairlead. I was bad how ever did not take pics as I went. I will put it up when done Right now just going to cut for the shackles and mount up the bumper over the winch without a fairlead for a bit.

nope no lift at all just my little 32s but now I have killer approch angle. If my old push bar sells I am going with synthic line and a polycarb fairlead very little bumper cutting.

Still trying to figure out if I can afford to get synthetic rope. I need to make a decision before I take her out. Or pull the bumper back off, but putting it back on sucks.
