After a long 2 months of not having my truck, I finally have it back in my possession. It was a huge pain in the ass (physically and dealing with all the insurance/body shop issues), but in the end it all turned out good. Things moved very slow, but during the past two weeks things started turning around. I'm happy with the work, bow I need to go wheel :rockon

$5,000 in damage. It was only like $2,500 for the parts and the rest was labor and paint. Good thing the accident wasn't my fault. I had to fight for two weeks to keep them from totaling my truck.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I'm really happy with the work that the shop did, just irritated on how long it took them. Im much happier with the OEM grill, fits the trucks style better.

They were all sold out. Im working on getting one in the near future though :thumbup

Some of the parts are OEM, others are not. Ford stopped producing the tailgate and hood in 2006, so those pieces are aftermarket. Just about the same thing though.

i thought the tire carrier was going away?

It was but the shop made a big fuss about it, so I told them to leave it.

looks brand new now, but not that it didn't look good before.

Nope, just couldn't get ahold of one. Called every place in the country and nobody has it. Retail on LMC and Ford was $750 so I got a check for that and am I my own to find it. I cant leave the tailgate blank because it came pre-drilled for the panel. It'll be put back on sooner rather than later. I like the look a lot better without the panel, but since its pre-drilled I will be getting that panel on there.

I like the look too, but Im not a fan of rust. And if I leave it off, all the internals are going to get rusted fast. Window motors and all that other stuff is stupid expensive. Plus thats a new motor that I paid for when I first got the truck. No way Im going to let that get trashed if I can prevent it.

:scratchhe According to this http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=34 That panel should only cost 280 +tax, unless there is something I don't understand, yours would be a "A" panel correct?. :scratchhe

No, thats the one with the red stripe. That one came on 87-91 broncos BUT can be used with 92-96. My panel is the "B" panel and has a black stripe. More expensive and no longer made. I called LMC today and that is what they told me. So did Ford and other shops.

Ford had alot of trouble finding a correct tailgate for me too after my accident. They shipped 3 different tailgates in (used) until they finally found a brand new one, including the aluminum strip and black stripe. At first they kept pressuring to put on a used one, but I wouldn't let that shit slide. You never know what kind of condition a used tailgate is in. It could rust at anytime, and the body shop had a less then average warranty on their work.

Honestly, the ford dealership here has the worst service I have ever seen. The job looked great in the beginning, but now it is turning to shit. The paint isn't holding up nearly as well as the original. The metal piece that is welded to the rear bumper is already chipping and rusting. I had the original one on for 11 years, and it was in great condition. Hopefully yours stays great.

Congrats on getting it back.

I got rear ended about 8 months ago, And they found a new oem tailgate in some warehouse in kansas, But could NOT find the panel. I got a check for 750 as well, And paid they $70 to weld up the holes and call it good.

Not in the greatest shape.

It is dirty.

The black part looks like a clear material with some sort of reflector under it. Pretty weird. It is in ok shape.

Some scratches, a small gouge, and a small ding in the metal part. Dunno how it would clean up. I might polish it up some tomorrow.

If it is the right one, and you can't find anything better, and you want it, lemme know.
