View Full Version : North Denver's getting hammered today dan76 05-22-2008, 03:34 PM Hope you folks have your Broncos in the garage. CNN is showing hail and now a tornado on the ground. CNN reports the 2nd on is also touching ground. Pantsman 05-22-2008, 06:20 PM Wow, just looked this up and called my bro that lives in Denver. The CNN story looks crazy but when I told him he said "really? I'm out here in a t-shirt and shorts..." I guess it is fairly localized and far enough north for him to not see it. colohunter 05-22-2008, 07:52 PM every thing has been 40 miles north of denver started out north of platteville close to gilcrest and went north 7 tornadoes have touched down. the worst area hit was in windsor. one has died. this is a large area it ended in laramie wyo. and they got a lot of damage there also. this area is about 60 to 70 miles long. and at this time there is still a lot of bad weather in the area. we all are watching the news and the skys. wish us luck colohunter 05-22-2008, 07:55 PM just got an update they think it was an f2 or f3 Larston 05-22-2008, 11:05 PM It's hard to believe that low an F-rating as big as that thing was when it hit Windsor :shocked Swat 05-22-2008, 11:17 PM Good gawd, I drove home today, in my rig, from Canon City. I was only worried about rain. FourXFord 05-22-2008, 11:21 PM March field reported a tornado here in California... flooded my street with heavy rains and hail... time to go find some mud colohunter 05-22-2008, 11:53 PM we had to go north to greeley and just got back. it is a mess all along the way. the path that it took you could see for miles. in spots it looks like it was only a half mile wide but in other places it looks to be a mile wide. it looks like one of those big ones down in oklahoma not like the little ones we have here usually. the guy that died was camping in a campground west of greeley. it seems like it has settled down now and we are to have some bad weather tomorrow but not like to day. the total path was 30 miles and the same storm that hit here is the same one that hit in wyo. 150 houses in windsor are gone and more are damaged. we will have to see what tomorrow brings? thesoundmaster 05-23-2008, 04:24 AM I'm on the south end of Denver. I was at my work for a luncheon and to use my power washer at work when the storms all moved in. The north part of the state did get hit, I was concerned about a buddy I wheel with who lives in Johnstown. We heard from him earlier this evening, he was fine but without power. Another buddy of mine is going to school up in Laramie, said the town was a wreck and his complex had power, but others in the same apartment area were without power. The south end had it's excitement as well. We were standing outside at the hotel looking for anything, saw a couple funnels starting to try and form over County Line RD and I-25 (my work is at Arapahoe and I-25), but they went away after a little while. 4 gusts of 65+ came up, dust everywhere... it was nasty. Aurorabusa 05-23-2008, 10:15 AM I was kinda upset that i washed my car the night before and then it rained a little bit here in Denver and made my car look crappy. Just kidding. That was a big ass tornado and luckily only one person died.It could have been a lot worse.Did you see that daycare center got hit? Holy poop!!! That really freaks me out now that i have kids. Take care everyone. Larston 05-23-2008, 10:44 AM Five guys I work with every day lost houses in the storm, it's been devastating for my company as many of our people live in Windsor. Luckily I haven't heard of any injuries yet. One guy was on the cell phone with his 13 year old son through the whole thing helping the kid keep calm while he was hiding in the basement. That house got flattened. The kid didn't even get a scratch as far as I know. Incredibly lucky. The hail was big enough that it ripped the outside mirrors off another friends brand new Prius, after it blew all the windows out. He had the car less than a week. bronc_17113 05-24-2008, 01:39 AM we had hail bout 1 1/2 times the size of a golf ball here and u could see the funnels forming to the north scary shit I already went through hugo thought i was done with swirly wind storms 96blkbeauty 05-25-2008, 02:42 AM I have been in Golden since Tuesday, so luckily I missed all the weather the past few days. The major tornado was an F3, approximately 1 mile wide, and stretched on for around 40 miles. No major damage here in Greeley. A few office buildings were hit right as you come into town, and a few farms were destroyed. Other then that, thats all I have seen. The tornado was about 10miles from my house. |
