96GreenMonster 06-08-2008, 05:46 PM Yep. my girlfriend and i went skydiving today. jumped at 11,000 feet. by far the craziest thing i have ever done. and by far worth the 300 dollars i spent on it. pictures and a video will be comming in a week.:thumbup
JD_Bronco 06-08-2008, 05:54 PM cool, thats always something Ive wanted to try
Fun times. I think it was $150 when I went, but that was almost 10 years ago.
96GreenMonster 06-08-2008, 05:55 PM i recommend it to anyone and everyone. as long as the person isnt on the heavy side(weight limit of 230)
The Yak 06-08-2008, 05:56 PM Skydiving is a blast. It's been a couple years since I've done it. The adrenaline rush is insane!
SigEpBlue 06-08-2008, 06:14 PM Did you scream like a little girl all the way down?

yea first timers have to be. i wanna get my license now
daverbmxer 06-08-2008, 06:23 PM I'm sure it would be worth it. How many lessons/dives do you need before you can get the license?
KC200787 06-08-2008, 06:24 PM i recommend it to anyone and everyone. as long as the person isnt on the heavy side(weight limit of 230)
What happens when you're to fat?:cry:histerica

You lose weight if you really want to do it that bad. Parachutes can only do so much...
I want to do this one day though.

deadeyedick 06-08-2008, 08:38 PM Yep. my girlfriend and i went skydiving today.
Congratulations on not dying. :thumbup
MoonRaker 06-08-2008, 08:55 PM Guess I haven't got big enough testes to skydive...
If I'm jumpin' out of a plane that sumbitch better be on fire and headed straight down!!

good thing i saw this after i jumped
AHeavyBronc 06-08-2008, 10:25 PM I don't like flying we, as humans were never meant to fly. thats why I aint gonna try and I ain't gonna lose the 24 pounds to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. But on the lighter side. good for you :thumbup
Bronco_351 06-08-2008, 10:26 PM Sweet, i've always wanted to do that.
4drbronko 06-08-2008, 11:11 PM http://capitalnews9.com/content/headlines/117669/man-falls-10-000-feet-to-his-death/Default.aspx

WoW, a human Lemming. wtf?
I'd skydive, if it wasn't for that whole "jump out of a plane thing"....
Can't wait for the video. :popc1:
Bri_Guy5 06-08-2008, 11:22 PM i'm happy for ya that you enjoy it. But me, no ****ing way. I don't see the point of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.
Need4racin 06-08-2008, 11:43 PM depends on what kind of day I'm having, wheater i'd jump or not.
94broncoxl 06-08-2008, 11:51 PM http://capitalnews9.com/content/headlines/117669/man-falls-10-000-feet-to-his-death/Default.aspx

I would hate to have to clean that mess up!
90Beater 06-09-2008, 03:14 AM Glad you enjoyed it. You can dive by yourself with two guides if you do an excelerated Free fall course. It involves more training first though.
I did it four times about five years ago. Then I got it out of my system and quit.
The hardest part was just letting go. After that it's kind of a blur until you pull your chute. The cute ride down is one of the best and most peacefull things you can do.

Ganuus 06-09-2008, 03:23 AM Wait, the weight limit is 230 pounds, but you jump strapped to someone? I don't think that your combined weight is less than 230...
stangmata 06-09-2008, 08:19 AM Congrats! I jumped a couple of years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. AMAZING experience!
mickaila 06-09-2008, 08:55 AM I jumped freefall a few years ago, what a blast.
I did static line with Ft. Begining from 850' and jacked my ankle (still completed trng though). Getting surgery on 19th.
civilian freefall is the way to go :}
mj
unixdude 06-09-2008, 10:07 AM That's awesome. I'm sure the flight up was the longest 20 minutes of your life where you ask yourself repeatedly, WTF am I doing. Then they open the door and your heart skips a beat, then does double time. You get to the door and once you let go of the death grip on the plane and you're free falling, that's when it hits you in the face - this is AWESOME. Then the shoot opens and the ride becomes boring....then your back on the ground and can't wait to do it again. Sound about right?
My palms still sweat when I remember the tandem jump I did about 15 years ago.

Ya, I heard about this. Not that far from me.

hit the nail on the head. except the door was already open the whole way up. it was about 100* + degrees out, and the airplane would have been roasting if the door wasnt open
bad96 06-09-2008, 05:54 PM yea first timers have to be. i wanna get my license now
is that just in your state? my dad went, and he solo jumped his first time. there wasn't any free fall though it was static line, maybe thats the difference.

What is ment by "static line" ?
Is it like, just jumping out and falling straight down, and nothing else?
KC

no, a static line pulls your chute for you when you jump from the plane. picture a wwII movie when the troopers jump out of the plane and that clip attached to a cable in the plane yanks the chute open as they are falling from the plane. its like a saftey lanyard. if you get what i'm sayin.
SSgtTEX 06-10-2008, 11:06 AM I want to get my license sometime. I have never been before, but I am planning and schemeing on how to get the money together to do it. I tried talking my supervisor's to send me to jump school so I can try to get into freefall school, however I was kindly (suprisingly) told that there is no way in hell they are sending an Air Force crew chief to jump school...no reason I need the training....so I guess I will have to change career fields.
godless 06-10-2008, 11:18 AM No thanks, I have never hated walking on the earth that much. If you had fun, then by all means that is awesome but I would never jump out of a perfectly good airplane for an adrenaline rush. Cocaine and jumping from an Olympic sized high platform would be plenty for anyone.

bubbabluebronco93 06-10-2008, 03:12 PM i've always wanted to try it. i jump off cliffs into water. i did the highest one that i ahve ever done last night. it was about 130 feet into 50 feet of water. you should try it. its free

Now that is insanity - sounds like a quick way into a custom pine box.

I did a canon ball off my Dads boat on Sunday and hurt my nuts when I hit
the water
dan76 06-10-2008, 05:50 PM no, a static line pulls your chute for you when you jump from the plane. picture a wwII movie when the troopers jump out of the plane and that clip attached to a cable in the plane yanks the chute open as they are falling from the plane. its like a saftey lanyard. if you get what i'm sayin.
With exception (HALO/HAHO) military jumpers use the static line technique to get the max number of troops out the A/C door in the shortest amount of time. This gets the folks on the ground in a relatively small area to aid in join-up and initiate an offense. Of course the nav (usually AF) must get the A/C to the correct target...which at times does not happen.
Veteran civilian jumpers jump for the free-fall experience.....the chute opening is a necessity but it ends the thrill of the jump.
First I've heard of the weight limit......I'm right @ 290, but 20 lbs of that would be in my shorts as soon as I jumped out of the plane.
