No pics yet.

My window all of a sudden wouldnt go down. No power to either switch. Me and a buddy of mine got together tonight and unplugged the motor and hooked it up directly to the motor to see if it was still good, and the window rolled down just fine. No power going to the other side of the plug (the male plug, away from the window motor).

Anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong? Would it be the plug bad, safety switch bad, or a short somewhere?

Also, would it be harmful or bad to just forget that plug and wire the window motor to a two way toggle switch, and just run it like that? We are thinking we could just direct wire it to the dash switch, and using that as the toggle switch. Anything wrong with that or is running a toggle switch ok?

35 views and nobody knows if it would be safe to hook up a toggle to the window motor. :shrug

Switch is a switch. As long as the contacts are rated right its hard to go
wrong with 12vdc automotive....

Not to bust your balls, but if a newb had asked that question all the crotchety old timers would have flammed the heck out of him.

AS far as trouble shooting it, I would refer to Steve83's page.

"Plug bad and safety switch" .. I think you said you have no power to either the tailgate or the dash switch. IF there is power to neither, then I would not suspect the plug or the safety switch.

I would suspect a short / or loss of power for another reason.

But see the difference between me and a newb, is i could careless. I dont run away and cry to mommy if i get flamed or get my balls busted. If i have a simple question, then im gonna ask it. If the high tech gurus on the board want to flame me for it, then whatever as long as i get an answer i dont care.

i do know that if the switch in the dash goes out, it basically stops giving power to both switches, so start there.
and i think the flame part is for posting this in the general, not the tech part.
