View Full Version : So I drank for the first time Saturday...
Ganuus 06-09-2008, 03:37 AM So I started having some whiskey and cokes because I thought that I wanted to get buzzed and see where my tolerances were and whatnot...well 15ish shots later along with two beers to try out and see what I liked. No puking no slurred speech but I was definitely drunk. No hangover today. Overall a good experience I think. I was only five doors down from where I live and thusly didn't have to drive.
SigEpBlue 06-09-2008, 03:42 AM You obviously didn't find your limit if you didn't black out or puke.
Wait, how old are you again?

84Brian 06-09-2008, 03:59 AM lucky you had no hangover. i remeber the first time i had hard liquor. it was some cheap rum and me, my roomate and a couple others were playing family guy monopoly. i took like 13 shots and a few beers and like 15 mins later i was trashed. i fell over and hit the table and spilled what was left of the bottle on the game board and money. every time now when i smell the stuff i want to vomit.
Ganuus 06-09-2008, 04:21 AM Yeah I could stand on one foot for around thirty seconds or more until the very end of the night. I wasn't too impressed with being drunk but I could see doing this every once and a while when people are around. The only regret that I have was that it was quite the sausage festival. There were only four women who were all spoken for. Though the funniest part of the night was when my friend ended up playing beer pong with his mother who showed up. Turns out I'm pretty sharp at flippy cup.
Oh and apparently I have a wicked evil laugh too.
derrick36 06-09-2008, 06:27 AM I remember when counting drinks was cool.
deadeyedick 06-09-2008, 08:10 AM My first drunken experience was New Years Eve, 1977. My parents went out for the evening and I decided to sample a little out of every bottle in my dad's liquor cabinet.

Ok, a 30 pack of Miller lite is not nearly as strong as most of the other beers out there. When you can drink a 12 pack of Heineken or more and still walk, thats when you know you've got a problem.....

I'm the same way, not much of a point in drinking for me either, it's acually makes me really higher if I'm full blown drunk. Calm when I'm just buzzing.
Other than that, i hardly drink, cause i really see it as a waste of money. Everytime I think about drinking, I look @ it as a new car part i could have had, some with tattos.

and thats why my suggestion was for measured shots, i agree with you. unless he's got a serious line of alchoholics that have built up a resistance for him. hell ive had family die from alchohol poisoning, but it still takes only about 3 or 4 shots to get me feeling pretty daym nice.

even then, it dont take that much the first time, trust me,
10 shots and i was passed the f-out, not a great night. 15 shots is almost a 1/5, that be alot of booze,
gannus, please be careful if you do decide that drinking is something you would like to continue to do,
make spares of all your keys, so when you get drunk and think of driving, you can flush em down the toilet.

Liftedbroncboy 06-10-2008, 01:00 AM the most i have ever drank was like 5 shots of vodka, 7 of 151 mixed with rootbeer and a beer. i has a hangover for 2 days after and i dont remember shit from that night. except trying to piss and while i was pssing i fell into the bath tub and hit my head, then puked all over myself and the bathtub. i had to try and scoop it out into the toilet. then i proceeded to change clothes and drink some more
MikE2 06-10-2008, 01:05 AM I remember the first time I got drunk. I was 14 years old and staying with probably 20 friends at a hotel. I'd never been drunk before and really I just wanted to see what it was like so I thought what the hell and did it. I probably drank 5 or 6 beers in a half hour and got ****ed up kinda quickly then acted stupid for a while and went to bed.
Then I remember the first time I found my limit... I was 18 years old and all I remember was after getting super ****ed up I went to sleep in a tent then woke up in the morning sitting in my brand new truck with puke all over me and the interior of the truck. A quick check in the tent also revealed puke all over it too, and I went out the window, not the door. It was ****ing nasty. 100 times nastier then the time when the dog shit all over the back seat after I fed him gravy. But now the problem is because I don't remember much about what I was drinking or how much I drank I still don't know what my limit is.
Since then I don't really drink much anymore. I'll have a beer or three every once in a while but I very rarley get drunk. And when I do its just slightly. In fact drunk people really annoy me and I try to avoid them.

same thing happened to me, i realy dont drink now. only every oncce in a while.
bubbabluebronco93 06-10-2008, 01:22 AM yeah i have a few beers just enough to get a little buzz. then i wait a few hours and then im straight and drive all my hammered friends home. i really don't like to get drunk drunk. but when i do i keep the bottle caps or the tabs from all my beers. just so i know how many i drank. as for 16 shots for your first time. im not to sure about that. ive only seen a hand full off people that can drink that much. 8 shots is a little bit more believable

Ganuus 06-10-2008, 02:08 AM Not bragging or boasting about anything. I simply felt like saying it. Now while I'm not 6' 8" 300 I am 6'5" and 245. Body weight doesn't always have to do with what you can handle, it's also your metabolism.
As to money, it was free. I don't drink normally (first time, dur) but I don't really see myself doing it any time again soon. Also, I don't really think that I want to drink more than socially every once in a while because alcoholism runs in the family on both sides and both my parents suffer from it. Both my uncles and one aunt as well. The last thing I want is to be broke and drinking more often than is prudent.

chambiec1 06-10-2008, 02:14 AM Rum and coke is good... my choice of a drink.
Ryan T 06-10-2008, 02:15 AM I've found most everyone I've ever drank with, who claimed to have "counted" the next day was full of sh!t... and if you where actually able to count, you didn't drink nearly enough.
I've started off nights actually wanting to keep count but forget real quick,,, and as bad as it sounds drinking really does take practice..... once your body or whatever adjusts it gets a lot better, in terms of hangovers. It took me a few months of getting hammered every weekend and being miserable until i learned what to eat, and that i had to get lots of water into my system before going to bed... now I can drink with the best of them and wake up early and for the most part, be hang over free.
Just don't get carried away and don't put yourself in a bad situation where you'll get caught behind the wheel.... nothing worse then having a cop look you in the eye and ask how much you've had to drink, especially if your under 21... been there and got very very lucky, and learned that i can actually happen to me
btw,,, im only 19 as well,

Yeah :thumbup
84Brian 06-10-2008, 02:21 AM my drink of choice is rum and citrus guava hawain punch. and 15 shots is alot if it were straight, even if it were 50/50 that would still be alot for your first time and not even puke on yourself.
96blkbeauty 06-10-2008, 03:19 AM Yup, first time I drank I finished off half a 750 of vodka straight...no chasers or anything. I was unexperienced with it, so I didn't even take shots. I just drank it straight up out of a glass. One of the best nights of my life, until about two hours later...then it became one of the worst nights of my life, from what I can remember I think I threw up at least six times and the next morning was the worst I have ever felt.
I have learned my lesson since then...kinda. I typically won't go over 8 shots, then if I feel like drinking more I will do beer. But I mostly only drink beer. Settles in my stomach better and I know my limit with it. Plus, I tend to not get hangovers after a heavy night of beer drinking.
KC200787 06-10-2008, 03:30 AM I remember the first time I was drunk....wait...I have never been drunk nor will I ever be...I'm a Christian and drinking is so stupid...waste of time and money.

p54519 06-10-2008, 03:40 AM Gentleman Jack on the rocks, for me. Been drinking jack on the rocks almost exclusively since I was 18. Just got into Gentleman a few years back when I could finally afford it. Evidently, I either drink way too much or have just built up a tolerance for jack. I am always amazed at the end of the night when I see how much is gone from the bottle (waaayyy more than 15 shots!). I never get "smashed", just what I call a "hard buzz". Passed a DUI test on 11 drinks one night (please don't try this at home!) From what I'm reading I should seriously consider drying out for a couple months.:brownbag
vt89gtvert 06-10-2008, 08:34 AM People who count are liars or queers.
Or in people in college....
Here is where my rant starts:
I drank ALLLOOOTTTT in college, a year later, I might have a six pack in a month. At one point in time I could shotgun 6 beers in a minute. it got me fuct up beyond belief, but I proved it was possible. If you try that one at home two thing to keep in mind. 72 ounces is lot for you stomach to hold, and alot for your body to heat back up, so be prepair to be loated and cold. Looking back that was probibly not the smartest idea, but just about 3/4 of my memories from college involved something that was a bad idea.
The way to count beers is to simply put the tab, or cap of the bottle in your pocket, then next morning you have a pretty good record.
Drinking a case of bud light in a day is nothing and something that I did on a regular basis towards the end of college. I started drinking Icehouse simply for the higher alcohol content, and would take a couple shots prior to going drinking so it would take less.
Don't get me wrong, so people drink way to much, and do spend way to much on the bottle. But just because he is drinking alot beer now, doesn't mean he will be doing the same when he is 30.
And there is no way you drank 15 properly mixed Jack and Cokes on your first time without puking, it just didn't happen.

Wise words for a guy your age Ganuus
And it's true body weight/size is only one factor. Raging alcoholics in the family is another, as is time drinking, organ condition, food intake, sleep deprivation, etc, etc.
In my day I could pound back in excess of 36 Canadian beers (5%+), but had a low tolerance for real booze (40% type), in spite of being well over 300 lbs and 6'-4 1/2".
One of my buddy's 88 pound girlfriends could polish off a 26er and not even look cut. Three beers and she was stupid drunk.

Being christian is not a reason not to drink, it says nowhere in the bible that you cannot drink. I am catholic and so are many of the people I know and all of them drink. And explain your comment about religon and 4-wheeling for me please

As far as I know, there is nothing in the bible saying one cannot drink, and even then, IIRC in the bible, they drank WINE, which is a type of alcohol, correct?

83bronco5.0 06-10-2008, 05:37 PM Just to let everyone know....I am not trying to slam my religion on you I was just stating that the reason I don't drink is because I am Christian. And I meant most people are not practicing Christians. I have plenty of friends you are non-Christian and that drink. As for the Jesus turning water into wine...that's another story. :chili:. If you have any further comments you would like to make regarding this...p.m. me, for I do not want to turn this thread into a religion war. Thank You.
You pretty much started that one. You made it sound like you think you're superior people who drink because of your religion. If you're foolish enough to think that PRACTICING Christians dont drink, you are dead wrong. I know many. Id have to say that a good half of the people who went to my church were hungover every Sunday morning. I even think the pastor was drunk sometimes......
If you dont want to start a religious war, simply withhold all comments you think would offend the majority of people. No dumbass comments = no flaming.
Oh and theres no need for me to PM, Im done now....
dan76 06-10-2008, 05:38 PM not to hate on Broncos but I hate, hate, hate John Deere. Farmall, International, Case IH all the way.
When I had a JD 620, I pulled an IH (my neighbor was usually hammered when he stuck it) out of mud several times. Additionally the 620 was requested by folks when a 4x4 was in need of recovery.
p54519 06-10-2008, 06:04 PM I have never been drunk nor will I ever be...I'm a Christian and drinking is so stupid...waste of time and money.
Let he who is without sin............

May I join in?
You are correct in what you say. Yes, they did drink fermented wine in the biblical times. It was not distilled and maybe not as strong, however it was still alchahol. Yes, Jesus turned water into wine. No, there is no scriptue in the Bible that specifically says "thou shalt not drink alchahol". The bible is specifiic about not being given to drunkenness. If you would like, I can give you specific scriptures but I won't take up your time unless you want me to.
Most Christian or Evangelical (not Catholic..no offence intended) religions take the stance that drinking is a "sin" or wrong based on the scripture that we are to "abstain from the very appearance of evil" (1Thessalonians 5:22 KJV) because of the evils that drinking or drunkenness leads to, ie. sex outside of marriage, violence, murder, and the list goes on. Galations 5:21 makes it clear that those given to drunkness will not "see the kingdom of God" or make it to heaven. Therefore, most evangelical religions have built their doctrines to include drinking as wrong and therefore to be avoided. Does this help answer your question?
