So I'm new. Today is my first day on this forum. Just created my account.

Why am I here?

...Because today is my first day being the proud owner of a 1986 Ford Bronco XLT 4x4, that's why! :D

An excellent reason, I'd say.

Anyway, I hope to learn a lot. I'm going to need plenty of help. I've never owned a Bronco 4x4 before, though I've owned a 4x4 many MANY years back.

I love the fact that there are so many things that can be done with a Bronco, both in body and in engine.

I look forward to all the fun!

Welcome to FSB Brother ~ I think I recognize that BKO, it's the same color scheme as mine, do you have the cab lights on yours............ ~

Today was great for me, hooked up with a machine shop and getting a new 302 EFI long block next month AND after many frustrating months of tearing down my steering column numerous times to fix the "ignition actuator" I figured out what was wrong and finally got it to start by using the key with all 3 functions ~

Banner Day ~ If it's broken don't give up, If your tired don't get pissed off and don't sell it just be persistant and learn from everyone here and use the "search" tool and you will prevail to be the master of your BKO ~ BOOYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Good Luck ~ :thumbup

Hey, guy.

I've never seen a Bronco with the color scheme as the one I just got. NEVER. I happen to like it VERY much. And yours is the same. How cool is that! :)

I'm not sure about the cab lights. There is one over-head light, with two switches to turn on a liight for the driver or the passanger. But that doesn't really sound like what you mean. Mind explaining it more, so I can look and see if I have that?

A new 302 EFI long block, huh? Sounds very nice. I don't think I'll be doing many engine mods for some time yet. I want to improve upon what is already there, body wise, before I tackle engine stuff. The engine in it now seems quite fine, though I WOULD like to hear some rumble. But I cannot go there yet. If I do, I'll neglect the under stuff and the body. Heh-heh. I'm a big muscle car fan, so I loves me a big rumbling tire-smoking throw-you-back-in-your-seat engine! Of course, with today's tech, one can improve performance and actually increase gas mileage, to an extent. Not if installing high performance cams and big pistons, of course. But I think you know what I mean.

I think the best of both worlds is a muscle 4x4. It's fun yet functional!

Thank you for the good advice.

I've already been on here searching all kinds of stuff. I know that seasoned members cannot stand newbies coming on here and just blurting out everything in their head...before bothering to do any reading. I at least have a lot of practice in forums, just never a Bronnco forum. So I expect to not get any members bent out of shape. EXPECT. :D

I think all is gonna be just fine and dandy. I've already accomplished the hardest part: Getting a Bronco! And a great one at that. Perfect to get me on my way. He and I shall go far together. Putting our marks on each other. Reshaping one another. Growing togeth...

Blah blah blah.

Commercial trucks usually have Cab lights or Utility lights on the top of the roof outside, you'd know if you had them, there is another guy here with the same color scheme as ours with the lights ~ very cool. :chili:

Glad you like this site, it's a plethera of info to help keep our rigs rolling and there isn't anything you can't find out about these vehicles for upgrades, mods etc. I bought a TB from "scrappy86" in VA in mint condition for $30.00, they're $300.00 brand new and I got PW & PDL pigtails from one of your lone star guys "Equin" for $10.00 so every time I put the drivers window up & down I am very greatfull to the state of TEXAS BOOYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. lol lol ~ Gotta have the windows down in Cali ~

I know I need to learn how to post pics but I'll get there ~

Eventually you'll learn who the best Guru Tech's are, listen to them wisely...............! lol lol :doh0715:

Enjoy Brother ~ :thumbup

Yes, I would certainly know if I had lights up on the roof! Heh-heh. I know exactly what you're talking about now. I actually was wondering if that was what you meant, later on when I was thinking more on it. My first 4x4 had a set up for lights along the back rollbar, but I never installed them. I've always liked that look though.

Seems there are some good deals to be had on here. In time, I hope to benefit from it. Right now I still need to get my Bronco registered. Before that though, I must get insurance on it. I plan to start getting THAT ball rolling tomorrow. Until that stuff gets taken care of, I am not even able to drive it around. Sucks! lol

Man, another Austin buddy. Welcome and if you ever need anything, I'm right down the road.

Hi'ya Broncrog.
Thanks for the offer of help, man. I really appreciate that. Very kind of you. I just might need it! I'm new to Broncos. And have not been into the 4x4 aspect of vehicles in many MANY years. Right now I'm working on getting the passanger window to work. Not sure what the problem is yet. Was a challenge to just get the window up. I had to unbolt the mechanism. The motor is still bolted to the crescent-tooth section of the doodad. Heh-heh. I was going to unbolt the motor today, but no time, not with it being Father's Day. Just got back from the movies. We all went and saw The Incredible Hulk! It was a lot of fun. And the left it wide open for part II! Woohoo.

Welcome aboard..!

Thanks Super!
Cool paint job you got there. I've always been a fan of the "big S!" :D

Hmmm. Interesting. Well, it IS newer. Better for kids maybe. Better on gas, I bet! All the windows work, I'm sure. Heh-heh. BUT...it doesn't have the cool paint scheme mine has! :D Bigtime points for that alone! lol The back doesn't come off. Nice one, that. And it is not Not NOT a Ford. Hmmm. Yes, as my Point System goes, I think I got the better deal. Anyway, it's my turn to find out. My turn to have fun! He had his turn and his fun. I wish him luck with his new vehicle. And now I need luck with mine...'cause I got to get the passenger window working. Hah-hah!

Thank you for that info. I did not yet realize there was a southwest forum. Would be fun to meet local Bronco owners, see their Broncos, and thus see how mine can be improved. So I make as few mistakes as possible.

Nice Bronco you have there. Looks quite big! Much newer than mine. Do you know if the newer ones are actually bigger? Anyway, yours looks great. Nice job.

I'm still relatively new to TX. I actually live in Round Rock. Used to live in Leander, so I know Ceder Park pretty well. I like it. Used to go to the car show they had there every Saturday evening. Lots of fun. I'd like to get back into going. Not sure if they're still having it there. I had heard some time back that it moves around some. I need to just go and find out...then I'll know! :doh0715:

Thanks for saying hi. And, yes, it'd be cool to meet. Who knows what kind of 4x4 knowledge is ripe within that Bronco brain of yours. Just waiting to be plucked! Heh-heh.

Like I said I'm greatful to Texas for my working windows! :chili:

"SEARCH" first, there tons of threads/pics here on this subject and I highly recommend you check it out so you get a good idea of what everything looks like before you even tear it apart.:banghead

Pull off the door panel and with a good light take a look around and check electrical connector for continuity, the drivers side is a dual control switch for both windows so the connector off the loom is a bit larger, the window "switch" that you push to activate window u/d are available in the "Help" section they just snap in place at any autochain for around $15 single/passenger -$25.00 dual control drivers side.

OEM PW electrical connector replacments are not available ANYWHERE that I could find so a trip to the bone yard or if someone here is parting out your year BKO you'll get a great deal like I did ~ :rockon

There are PW motor gear kits for DIY that are inexpensive. PW motors have 3 bolts and adjustment with nut & adjustable screw, these motors can be easily replaced but if it's an original Ford OEM have it rebuilt if it's an electrical problem, I had mine done for $65.00 because many of the aftermarket motors don't fit or line up to the bolt holes so your OEM is a perfect fit.
Trust me, the sheetmetal is very SHARP ~ :cry

Check the bottom of the window where the "regulator arm" (pendulum looking) is attached there's a track for the squarish toggle and both need lubing. Take a look at the anti-rattle window felts and you can spray the track with silicone to make travel smoother, mine are "shite" so that 's on my wish list ~ lol lol

Good Luck ~ :thumbup

Thanks for that info.

I will definitely do a search, once I have time to. Right now my Bronco is parcked in the garage...not being driven - so, the window, though a priority on my Things to Fix list, is not a requirement. It will be soon.

It's things like this, after you've fixed the problem, that are satisfying, for they are things that you, yourself, did. Fixing the window will be the first thing that I've done to improve my "new" Bronco. It is work, but it will be satisfying, ya know? I look forward to when I can actually purchase new parts and improve it even more, not just do upkeep. Upkeep is boring, but necessary. :) It's certainly important. Got to do upkeep - makes all the difference. But the fun is buying new shiny sparkly powerful sh!t to bump your Bronco up to a new level! Heh-heh. That's what I want to be doing! :D

I appreciate your helpful input.

Long live the Bronco!
