View Full Version : Greetings from Iraq!
HawkDriver 06-18-2008, 08:49 PM Hi everybody!
After years of admiring FSB's, I finally picked one up. My wife's cousin remembered (from 1990 when she first met me) that I had always wanted a big-boy Bronco. When her husband bought a new truck, she thought of me and $750 later, I was the proud owner of BroncoBoy. Here he is!

He's an all-black '95 XLT with a stock 351W. Pretty much everything is stock except for the 31's on custom rims and a drop-in K&N filter.

Upcoming projects include treating minor body rust (hood, tailgate), sheet metal repairs for all the major body rust, Summit shorty headers, 3" high-flow cat, muffler, and tailpipe, rear window wiring harness, windshield replacement, passenger window motor wiring repair, black steel rims (to complete the all-black look), tranny cooler and remote filter install, and engine overhaul. I've been in Iraq for 14+ months, so I'm accumulating parts and eagerly looking forward to getting home and getting dirty. :rockon

I've already picked up lots of good tech and how-to tips from all of you on here, so I look forward to collaborating with all of you. :thumbup

Mudd_Slinger92 06-18-2008, 09:33 PM Hey welcome. Where are you in Savnnah. I'm in Savannah aswell, need a 4wheelin buddy! You know where Wilmington Isln. is?
HawkDriver 06-18-2008, 10:52 PM Yup, I know where it is. I'm in Baghdad right now, but I'm planning on living on Whitemarsh when I get back. There's about 20 of us looking forward to gettin' muddy when we get back, and most of us have been buying parts for projects. Only a handful of Broncos, though. Shrug. Some people...
eodtexan 06-18-2008, 11:50 PM THANK YOU FOR SERVING!!!

HawkDriver 06-19-2008, 12:00 AM Thanks, eodtexan! Over 3 years in Iraq so far, but this is my last trip over here. 3 more days of flying ahead of me. The end is in sight! I'm dying to start working on my new toy.
redbeast9 06-19-2008, 12:10 AM Welcome to FSB and Gods speed to you!!!
HawkDriver 06-19-2008, 12:42 AM Thanks, guys! Your welcome is like a U.S. tour of all the places I've lived - AL (Huntsville), MI (Ann Arbor). All I need is TN, WA, NH, KS, and IN to complete the list. Sorry eodtexan - never been to The Great State. At least I can tell Dave I've been to *some* of the 5 boroughs.

BubbaBronco 06-19-2008, 12:46 AM Welcome to FSB. Thanks for your service.
HawkDriver 06-19-2008, 01:03 AM Thanks, Bubba! I sure wish I'd had this ride back when I was stationed at Ft. Campbell. My buddies used to go wheeling over at LBL and they had a blast. Woulda been a great time. Now I've just gotta get the beast road-worthy so I can make up for lost time. Exhaust is the priority so I can drive it from Ohio to Georgia without choking on fumes the whole way. My kids are going to have to learn how to be daddy's little shop helpers! :whip
bubbabluebronco93 06-19-2008, 06:32 AM nice looking rig for $750. what are you in. im in the middle joining the reserves. ill be going to basic at the end of august.
bnkrtstk 06-19-2008, 08:55 AM Welcome to FSB. If you want to sell those rims let me know. They look like the stock wheels, and that is what I am looking for my '95.
slw210 06-19-2008, 09:52 AM Welcome aboard!
Supersanbob 06-19-2008, 12:35 PM Welcome to FSB...!
HawkDriver 06-19-2008, 02:11 PM bubbabluebronco93, I'm full-time army. I started out in Abrams tanks and I now fly Blackhawk helicopters. Talk about a shift! Same engine, though. Kinda weird. What are you joining to do...besides come to Iraq, that is. :D
JKossarides 06-19-2008, 02:18 PM Welcome to FSB Brother ~ :thumbup
Thanks for all you're doing :usa
Thanks for your service.
And that's a fine looking rig for $750.
HawkDriver 06-19-2008, 05:04 PM Thanks, guys. I got lucky that someone I knew was interested in getting rid of a vehicle that they didn't want to fix up. I think it was for his son, and his son decided that he'd rather play The Fast & The Furious than The Awesome & The Bad-Ass.

Rough Rider 06-20-2008, 09:38 PM Welcome to FSB
Bennelton 06-20-2008, 09:47 PM Howdy. I've been over there a few times myself, until I got cruched by a HET trailer axle when our crane failed. I'll be in the Savannah area in a few weeks once i clear my current station and PCS down there.
liltimmy08 06-21-2008, 02:36 AM Welcome to the addicting world of FSB. I can guarantee you the work never ends on a bronco.
On another note, thanks for serving our country! :usa

kaudbron 06-24-2008, 05:53 PM Welcome aboard there are a few other pilots on the site I'm sure all of us would like to see a few pics of your bird.
HawkDriver 07-05-2008, 07:05 PM No problem, kaudbron. I'll post some pictures of my Air Assault "daily driver" UH-60L in the Anything Else forum in the next few days. Thanks, everybody for the warm welcome. I just ordered the latest (but not last, I agree liltimmy) of my parts - MSD cap/rotor/coil and some Ford Racing 9mm wires for the ignition upgrade/timing bump. My next mission is figuring out whether to fab brackets for my rear shoulder belts or go with a 80-91 rear seat swap. So far I'm working on replacing the dash bezel, re-keying the doors/ignition/tailgate to a common key, installing headers, ignition upgrade & timing bump, installing a Bassani y-pipe and the rest of the exhaust system, and getting the passenger side window to go up as WELL as down.
:scratchhe
HawkDriver 07-05-2008, 07:09 PM Bennelton, what's your MOS? Hunter Army Airfield isn't all that big of a place, so I'm sure I'll see you around. Best place I've been stationed in my 10+ years.
Audra 08-03-2008, 08:48 AM Hey welcome to Ga :D Only a month late, but hey when you are heading out wheeling post up in the dixie forum. There are a ton of us in the savannah area. :beer
