--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm thinking about doing a trail/fishing/camping run in late august in the poudre canyon area just curious who would be interested.
this is one of the trai http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=187 that I am thinking about. I also have one up there that I want to explore that I started down a couple yrs back. This is a great area to see moose, elk, deer and bear as well if you are into that sort of thing.

Interested Don.

I'd need to know proposed dates.

Also, as far as the fishing goes, I've been a hunter but would like to get into fishing some. So, can you let us know what license we may need for fishing, and what fish might be had in the area (trout, bass?). I've just got a basic/decent collapsible pole that would likely be good for this if I knew what I was fishing for.

hey mark lookin at aug 30-31. Mostly trout and grayling in this area. Real pretty area and trying to keep it fairly stock friendly. If you ever want to do some fishin give a hollar I'm not to far from ya and no some of the local honey holes. All you have to do is go to wal mart and get a fishing liscense (yr round fishing out here no seasons on specific fish)or if you still enjoy hunting colorado offers a combined fishing small game liscense. If your into backpacking or hikiking i can show you some gorgeous hiking trails up that way as well that are not heavily traveled.

You're talking about Flowers road? You know there's no fishable water on the trail, right?

FWIW, Flowers can be run in two wheel drive most of the year. It's a super easy trail. We generally run it as a day trip with West White Pine Mt and Monument Gulch a couple times a year, starting and ending in Ft. Collins.

Yes that is one of the trails that we are runing along with another trail that runs to laramie lake and a couple other lakes that trail comes out of the parking lot at lost lake at chambers but I am not sure the name of it if you know the name feel free to let me know so I can get some more details. The area close to chambers is where I am planning on camping.

The one at Chambers is Green Ridge. It's probably still closed, be sure to check with the Roosevelt NF office in Ft. Collins to check conditions. All the higher trails in Larimer County that I've checked recently are still closed. There was a ton of snow up there this spring. It's not a very full-size friendly trail if you like your paint. It gets narrow and I heard that they narrowed it even further last year by closing the mud pits and building bypasses through the woods around the meadows. Some Jeep friends of mine said it was even snug on TJ's.

Green Ridge is a long trail, about 35 miles from where you get on at Chambers until you finally get to Red Feathers. Deadman Road on the north end of the trail past Nunn Creek Basin is closed, we were just up there yesterday. Another possible exit on Bald Mountain road was also closed as of last Wednesday.

Here is the link to Roosevelt road status:

http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/arnf/conditions/forest-roads/clrd/index.shtml

It's not always up to date so it's still a good idea to make a quick call when you're working on a trip. I see that they are showing Green Ridge, Deadman, and Bald Mt all open now.

Here's an old pic of Green Ridge. The picture doesn't look bad, but before I got out of that hole the truck was pretty much totaled. In the pic, the bumpers are hung up on rocks and the tires are not touching the bottom :shocked

The details are all there in that this is not going to be a trip with a lot of details. Prolly doing the one 2wd ish trail and a lot of fishing and camping. The other trail i will prolly go down far enough to gte to laramie lake and do some fishing but that is it.
