Ass.....I'm a big fan of Andy's rig and what he has done with it. On a college kids budget he has modded his Bronco as much as he can and he wheels the hell out of it.

Maybe its just jealousy.....

Hopefully, I will be able to get into the voting for the month of May...because March I will be doing some major changes to my POS.

Well, I know I've already lost this one but I'll still try.

BTW Astra has told me that she is willing to pull some "Kallure" type pics to encourage my chances but only:

1. When it is warmer, she wants to take pics with the truck, but she ain't doin it when it's 40 degrees out. And...
2. When I actually have a chance to win, so to bad for you suckas that didn't vote for me.

J/K There are much better rigs in this competition then me, but I am getting there. Atleast I have the lift now.

Okay pics of the lift, I don't have after pics yet, but they are coming. Should get some tomorrow. If I can figure out how to get pics off this damn digital camera.

In the time I've been part of this Bronco family I've dealt with a few problems... many of you may remember walking me through.

First I lost the master cylinder on my rear drivers side "brake".
I was practically walked step by step through that one, but it gave me more confidence to tackle what was yet to come.

Next problem that sprang up on me was the cracked exhaust manifold that inspired my write-up on installing those pacesetter, shorty headers...
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=45849&toggle=fullsize&f=headers-new2.JPG
That was a serious pain in the ass, but with some helpfull tips the job was a lot easier than it could have been.

I had to fix my wipers with a new wiper motor from locopony but turned out the motor was fine... it was my switch that was acting up. Oh well, it was a good deal and it led to me also getting new (to me) gas shocks and finally replacing my missing interior topper trim. Thanks again Tom!

A few month's later... I dropped my driveline pulling away from a stop light.
Little did I know they had never been greased... :duh
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=70443&toggle=fullsize&f=BrokeDriveline3.JPG
So I learned about swapping U-Jionts and more importantly... maintaining the ones I have. Good thing too since I recently replaced the ones on the front driveline too.

Then there was the time the nasty wireing that I'd neglected to fix since buying her finally decided to make itself know... resulting in a small fire to the rear seat...
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=92513&toggle=fullsize&f=KrispySeat2.JPG
Better yet... when the fire cought I got distracted turning her around and bumper kissed a telephone pole...
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=92514&toggle=fullsize&f=PoleBite1.JPG

SO now I'm looking for a backseat and lucky for me, about this time one of my friends has decided he's going to let his '56 Fairlane go... and he's got a nice set of Explorer seats installed in the old Ford that are a perfect fit for my Bronco!
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=92510&toggle=fullsize&f=NewSeats1.JPG
I never did get the rear seat replaced... :toothless

Slowly after... she started smoking. Eventually it got to the point of watching the smoke flowing out from under the hood when I'd sit at a stoplight. But before I had time to figure out what I could do about that... the TPS switch went south on me.
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=94705&toggle=fullsize&f=TPS Plug & Meter.JPG
Again... FSB was there for me, and so was Ryan!
That's when I actually had to sit down and give EFI and EEC a chance.
With a little guidence I was figuring out what that damn thing was trying to tell me.
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=94709&toggle=fullsize&f=Disconnected.JPG
Now I know how to speak EEC-IV! :shocked :rockon
Unfortunatly after fixing the TPS and a few other little things the performace dropped even more as oil started pouring out that blow hole, instead of smoke.

Of course, that led to me, jumping into my very recent LongBlock swap.
No big deal you would think but a few years ago I wouldn't have imagined that I could do a job like that. But sure enough... there she is!
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=105503&toggle=fullsize&f=Assembly (7).JPG
And running like a top :rockon

This old Bronco has had a lot of fun with me... but with the help of FSB, a few bucks here and there, a few friends and some bloody knuckles, she's turning out to be one of the finest cages I've ever owned.

Famous last words {very rapid fire) "But Dad I wasn't going that fast around that corner. If those guys behind me would have been able to keep up they would have seen what happened and could have told you that I wasn't going that fast. I dropped a tire in in the ditch, then I pulled it out and it went sideways and shot into the other ditch, When I pulled it out of that one it went sideways the other way. Then it dug into the snow and flopped over!"

I'm just glad 2-1/2 ton bronco had those Toploader Rockwells under it all that extra weight helped keep it from rolling all the way over. To bad he didn't have the 55"x24" tires on it at the time, it probably wouldn't have hardly felt the ditch with them on! :beer OK GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND VOTE FOR 2-1/2TONBRONCO IT IS THE BIGGEST, BADDEST BRONCO ON THE LIST. He put a lot of time ( most of it out in the driveway in all kinds of weather ) into this rig building and fabricating the needed parts to put Rockwells under it, for some reason it hard to find a NAPA that stocks a conversion kit for that application. Not to mention it woud be a cool 19th birthday prez to win in the week of his b-day :thumbup

hey dustball, how in the world do you get around without a winch (unless i am just blind)...of course it prolly helps to go in groups

Dustball
02-15-2004, 08:51 PM
Always go with someone else capable of pulling you out. I actually do most of the pulling in the group I wheel with but lately that's changed as the other rigs evolve in more capable ways. I did get a 12k Ramsey winch last summer though so I'm better off now than I was before.

Topless spring and fall. 100's here in the summer = A/C.

That vent is a scoop for mid mounted blown512 w/Klune V drive. :toothless

A Venturi Vent bought through JC Whitney, opens in the front like a scoop and lifts like a regular vent for the venturi effect. Draws bad methane gas out in a jiffy! No A/C on the trails, it keeps things much cooler back there for my son. I've lifted two bent over sapplings to prevent breakage PIA.

OK Norm, Normless, Normal, the Norm-man. Norm-not! Norm-not stroker, Norm-not on 44's yet, Norm-not, Norm-not! You lookin' to start some shit! My engine be clean cause it don't leak and has been rebuilt recently. Engine whoa's. The friggin exterior has a few trail dings but is covered by the rattlecan paint job. I did the rattlecan paint job to cover the pretty show truck paint, (purple, violet, blue and silver stripes) and to match the doors I put on after the wife almost ripped one of the originals off. :twak I chose the showy lookin' rig for it's components no the paint.

My bronc's got a SAS 44 coming and I'll work my but off to get an atlas II 4.3:1 ratio or Klune V underdrive. It will go damn near anywhere then. MOO, HOO, hoo, hoo, HAW, HAW, HAW, HAW!! Works great now, looks great, what is wrong with lookin' good? You got to love a lady that performs well, you love her more if she looks great doing it! My broncs got a great TTB set-up that allows you to fly through the ruff! I'll miss that! And I do use it. Did you not see a couple trail shots I posted? SAS is the way to go for the more extreme 4 and 4+ rocky trails I want to do here in colorado. Oh and I like yer shit Norm-not! Keep it coming!

Another pretty pick, see that rear sploiler/deflector pretty and functional, gone now cause I couldn't clear the garage and have mounts back there for a roof rack. Mud flaps = functional when towing so I don't through rocks at my boat. I hope I can make the blown/bored/stroked engine functional reliable or it will be replaced.

:thumbup ....Well heck guys and gals, I haven't got a lot of pic's but I think I have put a little work into my lil ol bronc. It only has 20" of total lift ( with at least another twelve inches of springs on the way ) It breaks down like this....five inches of body lift ( homemade out of 3" well casing, 1/8 inch plate & grade eight bolts ), stacked 78 Bronco frames ( stitch welded and bolted together with NO warping or brittleness ) which is an extra six inches and, nine inches of home made suspension mount extentsions and extended shackles (to mount the stock one ton leaf springs on the front end), and a shackle flip in the rear. To get the right drivline angles and hook it up, I had to put a two wheel drive transmission in with a divorced 205 transfercase stepped down as far as the joints would let it go, then I used deuce and a half drivelines (3/8" wall tubes) had to put a one ton flange on one end of each one to make them work All of that is sitting on top of 6.72 ratio 2.5 ton rockwell toploader axle assemblies. I mounted a Dodge power steering box as far forward on the frame as I could to get the right direction of travel for the steering. Had to make a custom drag link, a custom steering shaft, custom link bars to keep it from wrapping the springs up like a pretzel, home made front winch bumper with large storage compartments for the tire chains and other accessories (that doubles as a scaffolding to stand on to get under the hood), a homemade push bar to get low enough to push you little rigs with ( not shown in the picture, but you can see where it mounts), and numerous other little items. Also it has a pretty decent paint job on it it has dark blue for the base with Mirage ( that paint that changes color as it goes by ) down the center, the frames are Grabber Green, and the suspension is Grabber Yellow. OH YEAH, I did almost all of this in my gravel driveway when I was 17 years old. And it does not sit in the driveway and collect dust, and it ain't no pavement poser. this thing gets used for what it was built for RIPPING THE MUD ALL TO HE!!. also the tires that are on it now are the SMALL ONES, they are only 45" x 12", the other set I have for it are 55" x24"

Hey, I had to do something to liven it up in here today! Its pretty dead. Oh and BTW all this work has been done in the last year on my bronco. Did it when I was seventeen & I am only eighteen now.
:histerica :beer

Sorry 2 1/2 ton.... I was talking to Blown...

Nice rig you got there.

JoJo is buying votes! He's paying cash, sex parties, drugs, alcohol and rock n roll getting jeep creeps to sign up on FSB and vote for him! How can you compete with that? How else would a jeep owner get laid?

Kidding of course! He's got a nice rig, but one would hope for the sex party, I mean one would hope folks would vote based upon contributions to the forum and brother/sister bronc owners in addition to the rig.

This thread was almost dead! I've been watching, too much time on my hands, between jobs and I've done what I can on my Bronc. I'm waiting for the solid D44, next project.

Face it though bro, you be a newbie here! I'm tossin' a little crap your way cause I'm jealous. Your running away with this vote, Nice rig, Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyatch!

Hey my sister is part of the brain trust for Cisco Systems and lives/works in Santa Cruz. Perhaps I look you guys up when I visit her. Nothing in the plans now, but I miss her.

Jojo: I do prefer cheesecake, opposite of beefcake, now you get it, reaching?, ok not that funny and hard to get!

Dang, Wage a negative campaign, smear the front runner, and fall behind on votes! I guess it's true, Americans are tired of mud slinging negative campains! Oh well, If at first yo don't suceed, try and try again.

Rumors are Jojo wears a Tonga when wheeling, has a secret desire to lower his bronco, and wants to add a third row seat so he can fit six of his Sierra Club, trail closing, tree hugger, buddies in it.................... :shrug :histerica

How big are those Duece tires? I remember seeing them alot as I drove the damn thing. Unfortunately at the time I didn't care one way or the other of the wheeling aspects of things.

You think my bronc is too pretty now! Looky here at the paint before the rattlecan cover-up. I've only had her two years. She used to be an uptown girl, showy snob, and no dirt. She'll get used more and more and get uglier and uglier. Rolled my 84 two years ago and got her.

Beards tall back seats, I used the stock sliders and made my own angle iron mounts, equipped for 5 point harness, they are very comfortable but do not recline and you got to step over to get in the back, roll cage, Hilift mounted to side of bed in background, Bedliner and no more plastic trim/sides back there. :beer Thanks Blown. If they can't see the rig , I doubt a sign will help. :thumbup :histerica
When I change the body on it (layin it on its side last month was a little hard on it) I'm gonna drop the engine and transmission down to the bottom frame. Then it will get another 12"s of springs under it. That way with the 55"x24" tires, it will have all kinds of clearance. :thumbup

:beer They are about 45" tall right now (the tread is getting pretty thin) and 12" wide. I have a set of 55"x24" implement tread tires for it also. :rockon

This is Bessy on a track made close to Flagstaff, AZ, That means hitting this jump every time around bro! (33" Baja Claws, 4 inch spring lift, lockers and built 351) Later I scattered it in the forest making speed.
