NuklHed 09-11-2008, 10:04 PM I was workin in the garage(had the day off) when i heard it on the radio. then spent the rest of the morning watching the news. broncofire75 09-11-2008, 10:05 PM In 7th grade health class. I cried because all I heard was trade center and we have one in my town and my dad was at it that morning. Freked me out. That was the day I basically decided I wanted to be a fire fighter. chebbykiller 09-11-2008, 10:05 PM I had just walked into my History class (go figure) in 9th grade. I thought it was a ridiculously bad ****-up until I saw the second plane hit, live on tv. MoonRaker 09-11-2008, 10:06 PM Lying in pain and watching TV while awaiting surgery to fix my busted knee... bossind 09-11-2008, 10:06 PM I was at work, people were freaking out and going home. loarmistead 09-11-2008, 10:09 PM I was at school. We didn't have class that day. I even remember what I was eating and where I was sitting when the towers collapsed. I haven't eaten a grilled cheese sandwich since. I don't know why. It sounds petty but everytime I eat one now I get sick to my stomach and throw it up a few hours later... :uke: I know. Weird. But that's what happens. JD_Bronco 09-11-2008, 10:11 PM At home, getting ready to go to school, I was a youngin then (4th grade IIRC) Ogeechee 4x4 09-11-2008, 10:13 PM I don't remember what i ate for breakfast this morning, much less what i was doing 7 yrs ago :wacko 95thebroncoman351 09-11-2008, 10:13 PM English class 8th watched the second one hit Gillamonster 09-11-2008, 10:13 PM i had just gotten out of the shower, getting ready for early morning school, just stood there in my towel for about 20 min watching the tv Ogeechee 4x4 09-11-2008, 10:17 PM Ok, fine--I was actually taking a test in my sophomore year of college. As ironic as it is, the class I was sitting in was World History II: Emergence of the Modern Global Community Hefty 09-11-2008, 10:24 PM Man you guys are all young. I was sleeping and my wife woke me up with a phone call. It took me 20min to figure out what she was talking about. Turned on the TV when the attack on the pentagon happened. I was a contractor in Colorado Springs at that time and it is a huge military town. I had 3 months worth of work cancel that day because of military familys thinking that they were going to be deployed immediatly. MoonRaker 09-11-2008, 10:24 PM ...It sounds petty but everytime I eat one now I get sick to my stomach and throw it up a few hours later... :uke: I know. Weird. Damn that WAS a shitty day :doh0715: stangmata 09-11-2008, 10:35 PM I was attending my very first military function. I had signed my enlisted paperwork just two days prior. scott 351 wins 09-11-2008, 10:53 PM i played hooky from work and was sleeping when my ex wife woke me up saying were under attack and that millions of people are dead. i told her she was fawking nuts and went back to sleep, but got up after 10 mins to see what the hell she was freaking about. spent the rest of the day watching everything with wife and 2 of my daughters on tv. bajarodney 09-11-2008, 11:02 PM I was up in Portland on a business trip. I was a reserve Police Officer so I hauled butt back to Medford in case I was needed. BigfootWannabe 09-11-2008, 11:04 PM I was at my volunteer firehouse. When the second plane hit- live on TV- we started making phone calls. When the first tower collapsed we had enough people to mobilize and headed for NYC with our fire engine. We decided to divert to the Pentagon because it was closer. Only after arrival did we find out that ACFD didn't want our help because we were "volunteers". I now work for the fire department in the Nation's Capital. Dave spaustin889 09-11-2008, 11:14 PM i was in 6th grade. In history class, when they made an announcement over the intercom. We didnt really get to see what was happening until i got home. Although one class had a tv for watching videos and they used a couple of paper clips and some aluminum foil to pick up a weak signal 4drbronko 09-11-2008, 11:14 PM I was in Eue Claire, WI, was headed to Min/St. Paul to turn in a rental car and fly home. Heard the first plane went in as I pulled in for gas in Eue Claire. They originaly reported it as a small plane. Fueled up and by the time I got back in the car the 2nd had hit. I called my office and my boss said to go ahead to the airport and wait it out...... riggggght. Called the travel agent and told her to turn the Avis rental into a 1 way to Boise and started driving. Spent that whole day listening to it all on the radio, was very eary on I-90, all the big rigs were pulled in and very little traffic of any kind the whole way. Made it to Yellowstone about 2 a.m. and had to stop. Got in the room just as they were replaying the planes going in to the trade center, up till then it never seemed real. Once I saw the 2nd one hit the tower my stomach just turned to jello. My buddy in 'Vegas said that Nellis AFB looked like a hornets nest, they were scrambling everything into the air. He said the weirdest thing was the days after with all the comercial flights grounded, normaly you can see planes coming in from miles out non-stop, said it was strange seeing nothing in the air. j. r. Nice 09-11-2008, 11:22 PM I remember like it was yesterday. Beautiful, perfect - not a cloud in the sky - day in Northern VA. Heard the initial reports that it as a small plane and lots of confusion. Continued to work and saw the news on tv. Later that day drove near the Pentagon and saw the massive cloud of smoke. What was really eerie was when the skies fell silent as a result of them grounding all aircraft. Days later, spent a couple days helping to sift through the debris fields at the Pentagon. It was unbelievably sad to see/find personal effects of those we lost. Lost a friend at the WT and a neighbor at the Pentagon. May we never forget - but may we never have a repeat. 79F150 09-11-2008, 11:48 PM http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/174848/original/wtc3.gif 84Brian 09-11-2008, 11:55 PM 7th grade history class. mom came and picked me up and i had no idea wtf was going on. didnt realize then how big of a deal it was. ChrisIDV 09-12-2008, 12:05 AM I was sitting in religion class. I forget what we were talking about, but the Spanish teacher came over from next door and told us to put the TV on. I think the rest of the day was spent watching the TV trying to figure out wtf was going on. I guess it's sort of like my dad remembers exactly what he was doing when JFK was killed. I don't think I'll ever forget that day. Everything I needed to know about Islam, I learned on 9/11. william_ace 09-12-2008, 12:13 AM i was in 12th grade english class with my teacher Mr. Bean the faculty tried to play it down like it was no big deal, and then when i got to physics my teacher told us that we needed to concentrate on our schooling not the TV 79F150 09-12-2008, 12:23 AM 7th grade history class.. I was sitting in religion class. i was in 12th grade english class Now don't I feel old as hell...:cry El Kabong 09-12-2008, 12:41 AM I'm on the West coast, so I was in bed waking up with the tv running & saw the reports of the first plane. I thought it was a freak accident. Then saw the second plane hit live on tv & realized we were being attacked. I stayed home, cleaned my rifle, & watched for several hours. Do you remember how strange, but safe, it seemed with no planes except our military in the air for the next week? God bless the families of those who were lost, & never ending thanks to the brave firemen & airplane passengers who gave their lives to protect others. 4drbronko 09-12-2008, 12:49 AM Now don't I feel old as hell...:cry But, you are........ :goodfinge :toothless Need4racin 09-12-2008, 01:14 AM In 7th grade health class. I was in 6th grade. They didn't tell us a thing all day. But I found out during lunch (1pm). All the teachers kept it secret, which was retarded because we had a normal day, all day. About half of the class went home early by noon. Everyone that remained in school was confused why everyone was leaving. Pantsman 09-12-2008, 01:16 AM Now don't I feel old as hell...:cry I think this is the first time I've ever really felt old... And I'm not even that old. I was a senior in high school when it happened. Like I said in the other thread around here. Showed up at work a little late and my coworker told me about it. I thought he was jerking my chain til I went around the corner and everyone was standing silent listening to the radio. 92builtbronco 09-12-2008, 01:24 AM I was on my way to work, I heard it on the radio. I was on 183 between Irving and Dallas, initially thinking it was the Dallas, Tx WTC. foxfire 09-12-2008, 01:52 AM I was at my unit H.Q. just starting my day of work. 396th M.P. SRT. was called by the DIV. CO and turned on the T.V. to see the secound plane hit. Got on the phone and called in the troops. Sept. 12th we where in NYC for recovery. Nov. 3rd Afganistan blowing the shit out of the ragheads. jslax04 09-12-2008, 03:35 AM yup i was brushing my teeth before school, walked in to talk to my dad in his room and he was staring at the TV with a dropped jaw, i too dropped my jaw...i went to school (10th grade and in 1st period Ag Mech) and watched the TV soon after school started the pentagon got hit. ill never forget, may we all never forget....thank a service member. Handy_andy_cv64 09-12-2008, 03:44 AM I also was getting ready to go to work when I saw the replays on the Today Show. Felt like I'd been punched in the gut. At the time, I lived about a half mile from the McChord AFB main gate (those of you who live in that area know where Lincoln Ave. is). My poor dad was on his way up here from Mexico, and was stranded at LAX for four days! If I had known that, I would've taken time off and gone down to rescue him. p54519 09-12-2008, 03:53 AM :usa I was getting ready for work and turned on CNBC like every morning. My company (Dean Witter, later Morgan Stanley) was headquartered in 2WTC. I had worked there a few years earlier and several people from my office were there at the time. I knew 70 or more people who worked in that building. I sat in shock until I realized that my clients and coworkers needed me at the office, I needed them as well. One thing I'll never forget is the how strange the sky looked that week with no planes or contrails. It was eerie. I still keep my security badge and a few other items that say "2 World Trade Center". To thisday it feels weird to look at them. :usa Mr. Death 09-12-2008, 04:18 AM 10 grade history class. I just watched "102 minutes that changed America" on The History Channel. Got to say I was speechless... very emotional footage. 90Beater 09-12-2008, 05:09 AM I was getting ready for work when they were showing the smoke from the first plane then I saw the second one hit live. It got worse from there as you all know. spikedzombies 09-12-2008, 05:47 AM jesus christ you guys were young.. I was just hitting 1st period World Politics in the 10th grade, 1st plane had hit than the 2nd plane hit while i was watching the news. my friend had actually just touched down in new york about 1 hour earlier on his way to see his grandparents in harlem. stan the man 09-12-2008, 06:00 AM I was sleeping when it happened (CA time). I woke up and got ready for school, I heard my dad yell at me, "Stan come watch this!" and bam the second airplane hit. I went to school (8th grade) all freaked out, and we did nothing but watch the news. In english class we wrote short little essay about when we would prefer to die; 70 years old or 102 years old. spikedzombies 09-12-2008, 06:32 AM I was sleeping when it happened (CA time). I was home on "leave" (Military vacation time) playing Madden on the Playstation and Ultima Online on the computer...I didnt find out what happened until after I went back to work on the 18th... jafo 09-12-2008, 08:51 AM I was 32 at the time and driving truck. I was running a special to supervalue's corporate office when I heard something about a small plane hitting a building in New York on the radio. It took a while to get unloaded so I watched it live on TV with a couple of guys on the dock. Everybody was saying it was an accident, but I found it hard to believe, having had some pilot training in the past, plus it was such nice clear day. Once that second plane hit, I new for sure what was going on having remembered about that Saudi airliner that went down earlyer that year. The co-pilot was yell "Allah Akbar" the whole way down into the sea. The black box could find anything wrong with the plane and everything got buried about it to keep the Saudi's happy. I remember how quiet it was when the planes were grounded, it was really weird. After that day all the OT dried up and it was even hard to get 40 hours a week. Money started to get really tight, plus I had a baby on the way. By Dec. I had no job and a new baby girl to take of. Ya good times, good times. Bronco Rob 09-12-2008, 09:38 AM i had just got done driving to Maine from Ohio straight through while my parents slept in the vehicle. We got to the homestead in Maine and i sat on the bed, took of my shoes, was tired as hell and ready to sleep and just happened to switch the TV on to fall asleep to. I caught the news on a local station and thought it was strange that the news came on at that time up there. Looking up that night, there was absolutely nothing in the sky. I don't know how many AFB's there are in Maine, but we were sitting out on the deck after the grounding was lifted, and we started to hear this thundering noise in the distance, but this HUGE plane, i think it might have been a C-130, or maybe the aircraft Stangmata is in fly not very high over our area. Saw, what i believed to be a couple dozen A-10's flying over too. It reasonably seemed that the air force was re-adjusting some equipment locations. sewiv 09-12-2008, 10:06 AM Everything I needed to know about Islam, I learned on 9/11. What a stupid, sad and typically american thing to say. ChrisIDV 09-12-2008, 10:21 AM Fortunately, I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Like someone said before. I don't think the news does a good enough job of reminding us just who attacked us on that day. sewiv 09-12-2008, 11:34 AM You mean, a bunch of Saudi extremists? Fortunately, I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Fortunately!?!?!?!?!! Ever wonder why we're hated all over the world? I actually thought it was a movie or something, didn't really take it seriously until I heard every F16 from Shaw AFB take off. At my parents house, you can stand on the roof and see the flight line. I remember the military took control of our entire neighborhood due to the close proximity to the base and put us on curfews and we had to have a good reason to be coming or going anywhere for a few days afterwards. At the start of our street they have set up some turrets and I saw no less than 20 guys standing there at all times with M16s in hand. Scary shit. 86 Bronco 09-12-2008, 05:50 PM I was sitting in religion class. I forget what we were talking about, I don't think I'll ever forget that day.
