View Full Version : What's your opinion?
Hefty 09-12-2008, 10:09 AM As you guys know I've been looking at getting my wife a BKO. and after she saw Shadowfax the otherday she said that's what she wants.
I'm looking at this one right now but I'm concerned about the axles. especially the rear. But all of the SAS is done and he's got about 2k in suspension on it. What's your oppinion? It will be a DD not just a toy. The other option is to stick with a stock Bronco and add 6in lift and 35's on the TTB suspension.

Larston 09-12-2008, 03:20 PM I'd sure go for that one over a lifted TTB. My 6" lifted TTB pretty much sucked all the time with tire wear and road wander. The SAS is pretty much a make sure it's right once and forget about it setup. I think the ride is a lot better, too. I'd be much more comfortable putting my wife in the SAS'd one.
93Beast 09-12-2008, 03:22 PM Dobas rig is excellent, I'd buy it in a heart beat....re-gear is about $1000 and well worth it, I sold a rusted, non-lifted, 230,000 mile bronco with a non-functional tailgate for $3600 a couple weeks ago.
$5000 is an EXCELLENT Price for that truck.
Shadofax 09-12-2008, 03:49 PM Does anyone remember the guy with the white bronco, believe it was 92+ on year that he had SAS'd several years ago, and I thought he was here in Colorado. He had a thread mayb 4-6 months ago talking about wanting to sell, but for the life of me I can't find it. He had done trails in Moab with it, think he had some 36" swampers on it. and not sure of lockers. And I thought he was looking at $4500.
Driving me crazy as I just can't remember his username on here.
Doba's rig is nice though, and the interior especially so. I just spent a couple hours getting my interior clean again. let me try looking again Hefty, I'd bet she'd like this other white SAS bronco, if I can find his post......
EDIT:
Found him, he's been a member since '03 as well, name is Crackhead and he is here in Denver:

Have no idea if he is still considering selling, but here is his supermotors for details on the truck:

Hefty 09-12-2008, 05:31 PM Thanks guys. Doba just finished the SAS and it looks pretty good. The gearing sucks but maybe I'll be able to get it here before the color run? or at least Bill Moore.
Mark, I e-mailed Crackhead? To see if he still has it for sale.
Doba's rig is really in good shape. tranny rebuilt late last year. The interior looks awesome. He's just 13 hours away. Gotta break it in though hugh. Need gears, Selectable lockers and maybe some other stuff but the basic build is done. I don't have time to fix the axle on mine right now anyway so I'm gonna buy another project. Makes sence. I dunno?
I guess the 1tons will have to wait until I can sell some more windows?
Maybe I can get package deals on lockers and gears. LOL

keep an eye out here, I've seen several gear sets, and an ARB that was real cheap not long ago, Robiem? I think that rolled his trailer (with his bronco on it), had the ARB as I recall.
This may be a "project" for YOU, but you know who the DRIVER of this one will be, don'tcha????:goodfinge
Hefty 09-13-2008, 12:18 AM Looks like I worked out a deal with Doba. Jen's getting her new BKO. She said I have to paint it as soon as possible. She doesn't like the brown paint
96blkbeauty 09-13-2008, 12:49 AM Shit man...I can't believe Doba's rig is gonna be here in Colorado. I have always loved his rig. I honestly would have picked it up awhile ago if I was out of school already...damn 5th year in college.
Hefty 09-13-2008, 01:33 AM 5th year in college. You gonna be a doctor? Too much school for me, That why I just went the buisness route. Self employed and all

Haha, no. Bachelors in Sociology with a minor in Math. I changed my major my junior year...hence the 5th year. It blows!
Hefty 09-13-2008, 02:10 AM So your going to be a Sociopathic Mathematician. Nice
Hefty 09-13-2008, 03:12 PM Flying into Pheonix on tuesday morning to pick up Doba's BKO. This sucks though. To get back here I have to drive through Moab. Unfortunately it will be the middle of the night and I have to be back on Wed.
Joes93Bronco 09-13-2008, 04:00 PM Don't paint it.
It is too unique to change it. I have never seen another like it.
Start a poll on here and show it to your wife. I guarantee the board will agree with me.
Hefty 09-13-2008, 04:07 PM I like it too. But it is her's and she won't be swayed by popular oppinion. If it gets painted it won't be for a while. Gears, Lockers, Alloys shafts, And probably gonna fab up bumpers and sliders first.
84Brian 09-13-2008, 10:14 PM im glad an fsb member is getting his rig!

93Beast 09-16-2008, 09:37 AM COngratulations Hefty, I think you made an excellent choice. Keep us updated with pictures!!
93Beast 09-17-2008, 09:03 AM Did you get it home safe and sound?
Hefty 09-17-2008, 11:23 AM Long Ass trip. Fly out os Colorado Springs @ 8:20am. Landed at 10:15 CO. time. Doba picked me up. We had some title trouble, nothing major and it actually turned out for my denefit. Got on the road at about 2:30 CO time (had to get fuel and food too). Drove strait through to home. Over 800miles of back country roads. Made it home at around 2:30am. Only had one issue. the pass. side headlight fell out of the housing while driving and melted the housing. I was probably lucky I was useing the vent because I smelt the smoke and pulled over. Wedged the thing back in and drove 35mi to the next truck stop and bought some tiny bungies to hold it in til I got home. Fun trip

I'm begining to look like the local red-neck. I've got another trailer in the backyard. Can't park on the street in the winter or they tow because of the snow plows. It's like playing leapfrog
84Brian 09-17-2008, 06:26 PM looks weird seeing it near trees.
Hefty 09-17-2008, 07:51 PM It's gonna see alot of tree's. Jen and I took it on a mild wheeling trip today just to test it out. Only got a few pics before the camera died though. This thing is awesome. Flexes like crazy. I forgot what it was like to wheel in an auotmatic.

Sorry the battery in the camera died after these. Oh and Jen is starting to warm up to the color of the bronco.
Speaking of color, I color run is going to be awesome. Look at the scenery today
Shadofax 09-17-2008, 08:15 PM Good for you guys!!!
A color run would be grand, but down here, it ain't happenin' quite yet.
Hefty 09-17-2008, 08:26 PM Yeah, the aspens are barely starting up here. We've been getting frost every night but I know it's been warmer down there
So strange to see pics of my truck in other places and me not driving it. Glad she likes it. I told you she would warm up to the color.
Hefty 09-17-2008, 09:27 PM Brandon,
I just wanted to say thanks for the awesome bronco. I'll try to take care of it for you. Thanks Jen
co84rc 09-17-2008, 10:18 PM nice rig.i like the brown.everyone looks right at home in it.im looking forward to seeing it in person.

gotta suck a lil seeing as how u just finished it not long ago
Shadofax 09-17-2008, 10:23 PM looks weird seeing it near trees.
fortunately the brown is light enough the trees won't pinstripe it too badly (I think).
It was already pinstriped from dessert brush and trees. The brown does a decent job of hiding the scratches.

Brandon, did you ever answer where you were going to be in Italy? You're in the military?
I was just there in may, so curious if you'll be in the northern half? what a wonderful country this is. whatever your reason for going over there, do what you can to go out and enjoy what Italy has to offer, and best of luck.:beer
North Eastern Italy. About 45 minutes strait North of Venice by car.
Hefty 09-18-2008, 12:13 AM gotta suck a lil seeing as how u just finished it not long ago
He was never finished. Just phase one SAS. It's in good hands. I already ordered the alloy shafts and gears for the rear. when I get more $ I'll get the stuff for the front and the lockers. Looks like I may be getting a tubing bender for xmas so then the sliders and bumpers will be getting fabed up followed shortly by a full cage. after that Jen wants to get a soft top for it and a winch......
......Somewhere in the midst of all of this I've got to get mine back up and running. Looking for a good package deal on gears and lockers and alloys. got 4 axles to do now. The list just keeps growing. Cage for mine and a winch and suspention upgrades (ext Radius arms, new coils, shackle flip?) then comes the interior. door panels, headliner, etc.
By the way the Superduty is for sale if anyone knows anybody who might be interested. 60k on odometer. V10, brand new 315/75/16 KM2's I broke them in on Jenny Creek at 3days old. maybe 300miles on them 6 1/2" lift (all suspension no body) asking $23,500 obo

foxfire 09-18-2008, 12:55 AM do the pin strips from jeeny creek come with it or did they buff out?lol
Hefty 09-18-2008, 01:31 AM If you want the truck I'll put them back if thats what it takes to sell it. Otherwise after about 5hrs of buffing they're gone.
wileec 09-18-2008, 02:50 PM Congrats. Jen is going to love driving it.

I wish.... no $$$$$$$$ for it.:cry:drinkbud:shrug
Hefty 09-22-2008, 03:51 PM I'll give you a really good deal. 23,499.00
A whole dollar off. LOL
foxfire 09-22-2008, 08:56 PM I'll give you a really good deal. 23,499.00
A whole dollar off. LOLgee that's alot better. I just can't justify a truck like that when I drive 25 miles to work on Mon. and 25 Mi home on fri. it would just sit all week. And I have no need for a big truck. Wish I would win the lotto so it would not matter. good luck on the sale.:beer
