Shadofax 10-23-2008, 11:46 PM Hey Doug, hope all is well.....:beer
Hey, do you know if this yard is reasonable?
I'm just wondering....if these 44 fronts were cheap and were 4.10's offered in 78-79 fronts? If yes, Willec (Matt) might be interested in this, who knows. He's already looking at a couple hundred to change gears for the front, so why not make it a solid front??? Sell his TTB stuff and be set.
bronc_17113 10-23-2008, 11:52 PM 4:10's should be standard on an f250 of those yrs

Yea, but I think Matt would only want 5 lug, if he'd even be open to that (he wants 4.10 gears, and for the cost of those he might not be far off just buying a good used 78-79 front 44 and putting that in. Keep the rear 8.8 just worry about a re-gear for that.
heck who know's I'll pm him, he's never expressed interest in a solid front anyway (unless maybe it's a D60 that falls out of the sky ready to put it and minimal cost, but then again, I'd be all over that too :toothless).
bronc_17113 10-24-2008, 12:41 AM me 2 if that happened
the f250 would have a d60 rear
i dont think the 1/2 tons came with 4:10 gearing in those yrs though

That's what I was asking. and I don't think matt wants to do like me....D44 8 lug and D60 rear. It's not for everyone, but it's my new-old F250 highboy-shortbody setup.:toothless
he mainly wants the gears as cheaply as he can get them.
wileec 10-24-2008, 09:15 AM Mark,
Thanks for thinking of me. Unfortunately I am a broke F&*^ and do not see a SAS being even close to fitting in my itty bitty budget I brought up the 410s because I ran across them on ebay, the pair sold for 59 +20 shipping, I was hoping that if I got the hardware for that cheep I would be able to afford to get them installed. No such luck. I am going to have to live with what I have for a while longer and figure out what to change after I break it.
Besides if I did a SAS I would have to pay someone BIG bucks to convert my garage door to an 8' one. That will have to wait till after the Lotto pays off.
edit
BTW With my luck if a D60 fell out of the sky it would land on my truck.

Yea, I drive by the D60 tree almost daily, but there is never anything growing on it.
I hear ya though, we've been real focused on paying off all the fun we've had this year with trips, so I've just had money for maint. only on the bronco.
Hypoid 01-16-2009, 12:00 AM I saw a '79 FSB at Western on N. Federal. I saw it last night, axles un-touched...so far.
Edit: A junkyard spotter's thread just might make a good sticky?
