i just recently joined the seattle fire department in their cadet program and i totally love and have now realized this is the career i want to go in to? why did you become a firefighter? what it the average starting pay?

i've been an emt for about 4.5 years, and im testing now for my paramedic. when i wasliving at home, i was on the call fire, for my home town, but i have moved. im still trying to get full time. i may be moving back home, so it will be easier to get on hopefully. the pay is OK, base salary isnt too great, when you think about what you actually do. but hey, you get payed to sleep, and that aint too bad. most of the money is made in OT and details, so its not unheard of for full time FF's to bring home 70K plus a year.

it is a blast, and something different all the time. granted it sucks meating people the wya we do, but it really is the only thing you can do and feel good about the job you do for people.
