There is no more one A or two A. They are all just Division IA and for football you have the playoff series and bowl series to distinguish the schools.

Well technically its not D1AA or D1A anymore, but it is still a subdivison. Montana is in D1 Championship or something like that. Its called Like FCS. They don't compete on the levels of teams like Penn State or Texas. You need to have a certain amount of attendance as one requirement.

I know all about it. I received my undergrad from MSU 10 years ago.

They know refer to them as the Bowl Subdivision and the Championship Subdivision. Several years ago there was some plan to eliminate the IA and IAA, and this is what happend. Who know's this was part of the design to avoid having a playoff system with the justification of, "We already of a Championship division"

In addition to attendance requirements, there is something based upon the number of scholarships they can give out. If it was just the attendance thing UofM has done better in attendance than several IA (easier to say then Bowl Subdivision).

The game did suck, and until the 4th it was still everybody's game, and the win is probably more due to the massive amounts of turnovers the CATs had. Hard to score if you keep giving away the ball.
