I will be installing a 170amp Alt. Do I need to upgrade the neg battery cable, or could I make due with the stock?

The neg cable should be fine. You might want to upgrade the power wire coming off the back of the alt though.

I would upgrade all the wires. At least a 2 guage. I run all one guage stuff with the duel batteries.
