I understand that beadlocks are illegal in CA. Dose anyone or has anyone known someone/been sighted by CHP with beadlocks on their rig? The penalties for running beadlocks, is it a "fix it" ticket or worse? I don't own beadlocks, yet, but with some of the articles in FOUR WHEELER, it may be soon.

i know a lot of guys running on Beadlocks and they dont seem to have problems with the law. from what i was told beadlocks are not DOT approved but there is no law that says "no beadlocks on the road". i might be wrong, anyone out there know the answer?

I think it all depends on the area. I have bead locks that are VERY visible, but the last 3 times I have been pulled over it was for fenders not covering the tires. Not once did they even mention the beadlocks.

Now I wish I had that paint job! I got honked at the other day for stopping at a red light at an empty intersection! Should have obeyed the CA rolling stop law...

Got pulled over last monday for "chasing a fire truck" on my way to work at 5am. The officer said "it seemed like you were speeding" and "those noisy tires could scare someone. You should be careful" :histerica Anyway, after going through standard procedure and pouring over the Bronco with his flashlight he says "Wow, you've done a lot of work to this thing......new gas tank....all kinds of stuff" :histerica Asks me if anyone told me my Hellas had to be covered, tells me my license plate light is burned out, etc. Not once did he mention anything about the beadlocks.

Actually, I stopped in the turn lane at a light and let the fire truck go by me. Then waited until he was quite a ways ahead before I took off. When I got to the stop sign, I made a complete stop. It was there that I noticed a cop facing the same direction, but on the opposite side of the road; lights off. I think I woke him up when I took off. :histerica

There are so many fake beadlocks on the market, I think it will be OK. (Famous last words) My wheels were "converted" by Allied so there is a DOT stamp on them. The cop would really have to know what to look for.

That's the way every "offroad use only" mod is you just have to avoid the guy that knows his shit and wants to bust somebody. Or worse yet mr powertrip that doesnt know and writes tickets for everything and you have to fight it

i got pulled over and was given a speeding ticket and the cop didn't say one word about my truck. most especially the fact that i don't have side mirrors.... i have said this before, if guys can get away with lifting their dually F350's 18 feet off the ground, its a safe bet you will be ok Chris. THEY LOOK RIGHT AT MY TRUCK AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!!! even on base when i pull on, they say "cool truck" and i say thanks, i know.....
