Sign the petition below to save the possible closure of Johnson Valley, home of the Hammers rockcrawling area. There are plans to close the area to training for the Marines for specialized training since the area is similiar to the terrain in the Middle East. While we do not want to keep them from having a training area, there are other areas around the 29 Palms Base that could be used for training and not impact the off road use of the area.

This may be the final chance to have our vote count to keep the area open. CAL 4WD www.cal4wheel.com has been doing a great job lobbying to keep it open. We need to do our part by signing the petition if we hope to keep it open to the public.

Signed, and would like to do more for its cause...

Johnson OHV is an irreplaceable recreational area; its closure would really be a huge loss for all of us.

I am angered that there are only ~800 signatures..... I KNOW that more than 800 people would care about this issue if they were aware of it.

I already signed it. I've sent my letters. I wheel the Hammers quite a bit, and will be very, very sad if it closes. I remember when my most very favorite place ever to wheel closed (Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, aka LCIR). That was a horrible loss. JV would be just as bad.

Signed it. The events scheduled to be held in Johnson Valley this year should be safe. The current government cut-backs should make such an expansion difficult at current time.

Signed. Read alot about this, it sounds as if it will be a huge victory or loss for the off-road community, depending on how it goes.
