View Full Version : ski/snowboard?
fire bronco 01-26-2009, 01:09 AM Yes, i know this is a bronco forum.. but oh well... Anyone in the area go skiing/snowboarding frequently? I need to get up more and always down for some new people to go with. I like big mountain riding the best... double blacks and such.... everything I've done in Colorado so far is pretty mellow. Also, anyone do backcountry?
bronc_17113 01-26-2009, 01:24 AM backcountry what? I do a lot of stuff in the backcountry
fire bronco 01-26-2009, 01:28 AM backcountry skiing and snowboarding/splitboarding
kf4amu 01-26-2009, 03:28 AM If CO is mellow to you, I'll annoy the shit out of you if we go boarding...but I'm down for hitting up anything for a weekend or something.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd give myself a 5. The first time I went snowboarding I had to get a 7 inch plate in my arm.
Now, I can go down CO blues without falling. And blacks take me a while but I can do it with a low risk of major trauma.
But anyway I'm totally down to head out to CO for a couple days. PM me if you're serious.

Sounds about like the level i'm at...I would rate myself a 4/5. I never really got into boarding until my freshmen year of college, and did it maybe 5 times a year each year until my junior year. I haven't been in a couple years now. Then I started working a lot more, and forgot about boarding. Honestly now I just see it as a hassle. Greeley is quite a drive from any decent ski resort, and I don't buy season passes. It sucks to have to wake up early, in the cold, and drive in sh!t conditions and traffic to pay a bunch of money for a rental and lift pass. Then have to wait in lines to actually get up the mountain. :toothless
However, thats just now. I graduate in May and am moving to Golden, Colorado. Much closer (hour or so) to the resorts. I then can also buy a season pass and actually pay it off by going. Then I can buy my own gear and not have to worry about rental.
fire bronco 01-26-2009, 04:08 PM im always down to go riding, i don't have to be on the blacks all day, thats just my favorite area... i don't go into the park really at all, I get along great with the jumps, they are tons of fun... however, for some reason the landings have a vendetta against me or something. The Colorado pass pays for itsself either just under 5 times or just under 6. Don't remember which. kf4amu... where are you located?
Hefty 01-26-2009, 06:45 PM I live in Frisco. I've got the copper pass and I'm on the Mtn at least 3-4 times a week. I tend to go just in the morning and I don't do weekends, it just gets too crowded. I love living 5 min for the lifts. If you've got the Colorado Pass I know alot of people here that you could go with that are very much so experts. My brother comes up just about every sunday and monday to Copper. He likes the same terrain that you do. Just come up and have fun. I almost always go by my self.
fire bronco 01-26-2009, 07:14 PM Oh, nice. Yea, I lived at Mammoth Mountain for 3 years. Some BADASS terrain. I miss living 1/4 mile from the slopes and riding whenever I want, especially when the lines are shorter. I do have the colorado pass. Yea I usually go by myself or with a couple of other people, but I figured this would be a fun way to meet people from the site... or other people in general.

Right now I'm in Spartenburg South Carolina. Tomorow I'll be in Florence, SC and the next day I'll be in Hilton Head, SC. Over the weekend I'll be in Charlotte, then early Feb I'll be up in the northeast for about 6 days.
I got some 3 day weekends comin up so it's easier to fly out there and back without spending 80 percent of my time on an airplane.

Don't forget Snow Basin and Powder Mt. Just spent three days at SB and the snow couldn't be better, however it was a bit crowded today.
