Smooth, that is way cool of you to open this up to all of FSB. I am certainly interested, although I may just have to come along and hitch a ride in someone else's rig, it's a bit of a drive for a weekend trip. This place you describe sounds like wheeling heaven. Thank you again for inviting us NE chapter guys. :thumbup

So whatta the rest of ya think?
after diggin thru the photo gallery, it looks like there are some cool trails, and it is very muddy. Looks like it could be a cool place to go. Might have to invest in a cheap set of swampers b4 the trip, though....

kev, howzabout towin me to TN on that new trailer of yours?? :thumbup

I plan on going, best case scenario is I tow the 79 with the wife's Expedition. I don't think it's a good idea to count on the 79 to make it 14 hours, wheel a few days, and make it home another 14 hours. I'm still trying to get a decent quote to get a few trucks taken down there. There is the off chance I might have my old 88 back, and I was thinking of driving that to and from, and just wheel with a conscience, although Tracy doesn't think I'm capable of that. Worst case scenario I tow the camper down there in the Expedtion, and go Bronco-less, and just take bunny trails in the Exp to watch the big dogs play. But that kind of defeats the purpose of going to a Bronco event. So I start my search for a cheap trailer or dolly. The other snag is, I was hoping to brong the camper trailer since I would like a comfy spot to sleep after a long drive, and a day ot two of wheeling. But that is only possible if I can get the Bronco towed by a third party.

Well, as of right now it looks like im going! Ill probably be driving down a couple days before to set up camp, and maybe sneak in some wheelin on friday :brownbag Ill probably start making the trek back to NJ on the following tuesday. That gives me a day to fix the truck in TN should i feel so inclined.
My current plan is to tow it down (hence the frantic trailer search ive been on for 4 months), but i still dont have a tow rig! I may try to convince my father to let me borrow his truck for a week and ill rent him a car in its place. But, if you come up with a good plan to get a few trucks down via some form of transport, (or i cant convince my father to drive a car for a week) ill go that route.

Im thinking on taking off wed-wed.
Leave for TN wed. morning. Arrive late wed. night. Relax on thursday. (sneak in some wheelin friday) Spend the weekend surrounded by a bunch of kickass FSB's :thumbup , camp monday, leave tuesday. Save wednesday as a day to unpack, and fix the shit i broke all weekend.
it seems to good right now, but i know ill just end up requesting off the entire week following just so i can loaf around, not do anything & get paid for it :toothless

I'd say the next trip should be at Paragon!

Oh, Smooth, I'd be happy to be in the truck in front of you. Of course, then you'd take the chance of a tree coming down on ya, since we all know it's not too safe to be in the vicinity of Steve while he's wheeling.

Maybe we could rig something up for me to sit on TOP of the truck! :histerica If that were the case, I should get mad girlfriend points for that one. :histerica

It all depends on what you look like with your top off :brownbag

Actually I got a rough quote of about $600 for a full cage installed in the Bronco from a guy in south Jersey . I was going to try to find another GT bar and mount it in the back of the truck and get some tubing for cross pieces.

how'd ya like to do mine while your at it steve?? lemme know if you're gonna get one, we could make a party out of it.

i'm tryin to work on a cheap (= less than $1000) rv to bring down there, and just tow the rig behind that. alternative is duallie towing a trailer, in which case i might try to find a trailer which could fit two rigs and "help a brotha out". last and least desireable is just drive the damn bronco down there.

Hey Jackhart, you could always rent an RV. I'm not up on New York geography, but I found www.niagarafallsrvrentals.com. They allow you to tow (and to bring your pets). Of course, the fees are $175-$600/day. :shrug

That's and idea, but we would have to bring a set of (2) small tires on rims, since even 31's don't fit on most dollies.

That last weekend in July looks best. If a couple of guys from way up North here (CT/MA/RI) want to make the trip, my girlfriend suggested taking our FSB's and instead of a long mad dash, cutting the trip into two parts, so we don't destroy our rigs or our sanity, tryin to make a 9/10 hour run in one shot. hmm, Connecticut to the far side of Tennessee.... Can you say ATLANTIC CITY SLEEPOVER!!!! :thumbup :duh :beer :goodfinge :toothless :shocked :drinkbud :wacko :chili: :rockon :histerica :usa :hump

That way, us real up NorthEast folks could meet up in say oh in New Haven Connecticut ( I know just the place, where I 95 and I 91 Meet, or even Hartford CT where I 91 and I 84 meet) on a Thursday Early Evening and we can start a CONVOY :rebelflag , that we can all roll down to Atlantic City. Sleep in a nice hotel (Hotel 8/Best Western) after a good night of drinkin and playing some poker or blackjack. Wake up in the am, have some b'fast, and hit the road for Tennessee. Pull in to TN, find another Best Western check into that Friday mid afternoon. Do a final go-over on the Bronco's (check air, GAS, fluids, GAS, Air conditioners, GAS, you know, the basics) And on Saturday morning pull in to the Meet all fresh and ready to Rumble!!!!

Any-who that's just our idea.

Sincerely, Kurt :wacko

While splitting the trip into two parts is a good idea, it might be more logical if you stay overnight in like Baltimore or something. From Atlantic City to TN it's a fifteen hour trip plus the four hours from New Haven to AC the day before. Just a heads up, since we here near Philadelphia have a fourteen hour trip - I definitely wouldn't mind splitting it but it has to be on the way for me! :thumbup

True, is there anything between Philly and Tennessee that might be a good layover spot. Staying away from Atlantic City saves me $2,000 so I guess I should thank you LOL!!! Baltimore by the way is a no go. I'd like to keep the rims on my truck if you know what I mean HA!

any-who keep me posted name the date and the time and I'll be there an hour early.

It all depends on which way you go! Yahoo has us sliding over through Maryland and Northern VA into W. Va and Kentucky, then south to TN. Expedia, however, has you going over to 81 and taking that down through VA and right into TN. Expedia's route seems more feasible for you CT boys since 81 lets off a little more north of us, sort of near you guys, maybe. We usually just drive until we get tired and then find the first exit with hotel, gas and food.

But on the way there's Roanoke, Knoxville, etc.

Maybe sneak in some wheelin friday, or just kinda chill out and wait for everyone else to roll in. maybe do a big barbeque or something friday night to 'break the ice' so-to-speak w/ the dixie chapter. Ill prolly hang around monday, possibly fix anything ill need to fix, and start packing, so we can roll out early tuesday morning. Ultimately it depends on when we feel like leaving; sometime monday, or early tuesday.
