It sucks to lock your keys in the truck. Even worse when you look like an idiot trying to jimmy it open with the antenna you broke off your truck. Never again. Do what I do when this happens to you. Look for someone about to get into their truck, and ask them to borrow their clip off their master cylinder. Sure, they'll look at you funny for a second, but just apologize for imposing and explain that you've locked yourself out, and would rather ask to borrow that, than pay for a locksmith

Last guy I asked this, said sure w/o any hesitation, and that he had to see how I was going to pull it off. Mind you, by this time, I'd gotten into vehicles at least 6 times by then, using this method(I coulda made bank by now too, but I'd also be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life  )

With the helping vehicle's hood open, remove the clip that holds the cap on the master cylinder

Now, holding the end of the clip that's closest to the grill, work the other end under the wing window, like so
http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/927/775/brake-clip2.JPG

Slide the hook end around the backside of the window lock, like this
http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/927/775/brake-clip4.JPG

For those of you with button locks on your latches, just pull out against the lock, while you rotate the clip, to unlock the wing window. You'll know you're in when your lock gets to this point
http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/927/775/brake-clip3.JPG

Now, just pull the window open.....

....reach in, unlock your door, and just smile at the guy who's clip you borrowed. It's also courteous to replace the clip, rather than just handing it back to him

Just use the clip to pull on the button, while you turn the window lock. The last guy I borrowed a clip from, owned an 87 F250, and I showed him how to do it with his locking wing window - you'd think the guy saw the greatest thing in the world...kinda funny to see his reaction

And I have AAA too, but by the time they got there, I could be on the road, halfway home

AAA is always good, of course I dont have a cell phone so I would be stuck somewhere if there wasnt a phone near by!!

Dave, does that bend the clip up, it appears to by the pictures...??

I've used this same type trick on mine, but I used silverware (fork, spoon, etc.) You bend the handle of two piece into L shape's and use one to push the button, one to turn the latch. You gotta bend them up pretty good. So you want the cheap ones.

If they really want it they will take it no matter what...the key is not to let anyone know what you have or a removable face plates. We actually took an old am radio sliced the front off it and JB Weled half a CD to the back of it in my old truck...when I left it I just slid the CD into my CD drive to hold the old AM in front. It looked like I had a piece of crap stereo and it was never even tampered with...

Locks are just to keep honest people out.

A guy broke into my old Cougar and stole the CD player and a bunch of CD's. Luckily I had put my name and drivers licence number in the spine of the jewel case on all my discs. I went around to all the pawn shops and music stores that sold used CD's till I found my discs. I called the PD and told them that the store had bout my CD's from whoever broke into my car and they had the info on the guy that sold them too them. The police got my discs back from the store and then went to where the guy worked and got the rest of my stuff out of his car. They got everything back and even gave me some of his stuff. I told them that some of it wasn't mine and their reply was, "it is now"

My car was broken into on a saturday night while it was parked at the garage I worked at (bad dist. pick-up). I discovered it Monday morning and I had all my stuff back Monday afternoon. Pawn shops are only required to fill out hot sheets once a week and you can only believe those if the owners are on the level. The Police are busy with a huge case load of break-ins just like yours so they aren't going to focus on just one incident unless they have some really good leads or strong evidence. If you take a few precautions and do some detective work for yourself your chances are greatly improved. I don't think I would have ever seen my stuff again if I hadn't went out caught the guy myself.

Dixie Pirate..............Glad to hear you got your stuff back and then some. You are right, sometimes on petty stuff like this they wont do any foot work, but since you ID'd all your stuff and did the leg work for them, thats why they acted on it, other wise you woulda been screwed.

1 for the good guys :thumbup

I accidentally locked my keys in the Bronco Friday. Opened the door, got out, the wind was blowing so hard the door hit my leg, pressing the power lock button on it's way shut. I got the vent window open in a jiffy with a coat hanger and a piece of wire. I 've seen that special tool some people use to do this, haven't thought about the m.c. spring. Even with an alarm, my Bronco has been broken into before, with the thief breaking that center dash piece to get to the radio. It's a real pain to find a replacement piece, just to have it busted up again.

clamp the vice grips onto the wings off the ignition and jerk it back, hammer on it with your fist if need be.
http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/372/1549/brokenignition1.jpg
wella, no key needed to start it.
Works good for when some asshole steals your wallet, keys, and phone........
also works good for stealign other peoples broncos if your such a bronco nut and yours isnt enough.
