That looked completely awesome. I wanna go on the next trip!! How much is airfare to Iceland??

Is it me, or do the rest of you guys feel like you were reading a Lord of the Rings sequel? It must be the cool names in Iceland - Skuli Skulason? Thor? Thandur? Those names rock.

"We must get to Kerlingarfjoll by sunrise to head off the evil Sverrir and the wicked wizard Einar, or Castle Setur will surely fall!! We make for the bridge at Hofsjokull, where we meet up with Thrainn the Good and Hjalmar the Brave. Ride!!!" Ha ha, j/k, but I think my new name will be Skuli from now on.

Not as far off as you might think...
...LOTR was inspired by norse mythology, written by Icelanders in the dark ages.

True true, at least the names are. Tolkien borrowed a lot from old norse mythology.

The names do rock. I'm going to move there so I can change mine lol.

Very nice writeup, makes my wheelin' trips seem very tame.

When we were up there all we had was the stock heater in our 74 bronco it worked great. The wheeling up there is the best. My wife and I miss Iceland if I could get a good job up there we would move no questions ask.

Awesome story and photos. Wish I could be apart of one of those trips.
