Yeaaaaaahhhhhh, I was about to start diggin out enough cables and chains to reach from here to there ( washinton state to ct. ) Glad you got out, NOW POST THOSE PIC'S
:toothless :thumbup :beer
R94BroncoXLT 03-21-2004, 02:53 PM Ok here are the pic's. They are on my super ford site http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/detail.php?id=4853 under mudding stuck. There are 4 videos too.
SO here is what happened, the whole story.
Yesterday just before dusk I decide to check out some trails I went on in the fall with a friend. I start going down the trail its all puddles and just deep water. I get to the turn around and I am like that looks deep so I start to go around and lose it and end up burring my self.
So I call my roommate right away and was like I am stuck bring the come along and your jeep. He shows up and we try the come along and it moves it like a foot so he is like let me try to pull u out. We hook up 50 ft of strap he starts pulling. He does nothing just spins he has a 96 jeep Cherokee stock tries no lift. At one point I though he heard me I wanted to back up the foot I could move and then get a running start. Well he did not hear me I pulled him back while he was spinning all four. So my roommate is like let me try over there across the small creek. Yea he gets the jeep stuck in the creek. I unhook the straps from my truck and find a tree and start with the come along. After about an hour of it I got him out.
So we decide to leave and go find a bigger truck or a winch. All the stores were closed by now and we could not find any one. That’s when I posted for help on here. So we left it for the night. This morning at like 8 we left, my 2 roommates and myself with his jeep again and head over to my truck. We brought some 4x4 posts and more straps.
We try some more and decide its time to go to the store and get shovels and a winch. We got a cheep 6000lbs winch and two shovels and go back to my truck and hook it up and start digging and pulling and eventually got it out of the hole. We went and washed the jeep and my bronco and I spent $20 on just my bronco. And the undercarriage is still not clean.
Thanks for the responses.
Ryan

I hear you. Were you at Colony-palooza over the weekend?
Good luck with finals bro :beer
SuperDave 05-12-2004, 12:11 PM I think with better tires that that would not have been an issue. A locker would help too
stangmata 05-12-2004, 01:01 PM And a winch, lift, big tires, less mud, 450hp engine :goodfinge
bnkrtstk 05-12-2004, 01:11 PM And a winch, lift, big tires, less mud, 450hp engine :goodfinge

Yea....this weekend is going to be a mess. I'm in debate as to whether or not im going to go. The last thing I need is to have something stupis happen right before finals.
You definately could have made it through with good tires. I went back and checked it out and it didn't seem bad at all.
stangmata 05-13-2004, 08:50 PM Ryan...were you parked in S-lot today? 2 spaces down from me?
R94BroncoXLT 05-13-2004, 10:58 PM ya that was me

stangmata 05-14-2004, 09:21 PM you should stop over for a beer some time i live just off campus. i will be up here till wed. then its off to elmira for a 6 month coop
Absolutely bro! I'm always down for a beer. Whenever you got time man.
Did you find those torques?
R94BroncoXLT 05-15-2004, 01:14 AM ya i did i took the top off and went to the beach with a bunch off people. The bolts all came out easy and the top came right off. When i put it back on to night i broke the bit because of the angle i had it at :banghead . I got all but one bolt back in it. think i am going to take it off again on sunday so i need to find a good torques bit. I think i am going to just change the bolts to hex heads when i get a chance.
MyFullSize 05-15-2004, 04:27 PM It doesnt look like that bad a hole, a lift and some better tires may have been all you needed. And run, dont crawl though mud. :)
Good idea on the winch, where did you get it? How much?
Cheers...
MyFullSize 05-15-2004, 04:28 PM Hehe, looked at the last video, no wonder you were stuck, looks like your tires were racing slicks or passanger car tires. :) J/K
R94BroncoXLT 05-15-2004, 04:33 PM Tires are not that bad about half tread. 31x10.5x15 Dunlop RV radial Rovers. i got the winch at pepboys $50.
bigbluebronco 07-15-2004, 03:22 AM Yea, ya'll need to be waaaayyyy more cautious wiht using a winch, that will take someones head off faster then a pissed off Iraqi :twak :slap :wacko
JoeBob1901 07-16-2004, 04:11 AM just a question..50 dollars for a 6 winch?
R94BroncoXLT 07-16-2004, 09:44 AM Ya for one of those cheep winch in a plastic box. it hooks to a trailer hitch ball. its an cheep one. it does 6000LBS rolling and a 2000lb drag load. Its not great but shit it pulled the bronco out!!!
willjones4 07-16-2004, 10:09 AM Yeah really! I don't have $1000+ to drop on a new winch and a bumper to hook it to....I been relying on a hi-lift to get me out..this would be a nice thing to have....looks like a helluva lot less work! :beer
willjones4 07-16-2004, 10:12 AM BTW guys, you can get a nice torx set at Autozone for $15, made by Great Neck, has 13 or 14 bits and a screwdriver type driver.....
SSgtTEX 07-16-2004, 10:13 AM must be a newer bronco thing cause i can just use regular ol sockets on my top bolts
R94BroncoXLT 07-16-2004, 10:18 AM Ya I got a set from harbor freight got cheep they work good, but I got all regular bolts for it the other day. They work well except for the cab bolts because they are not pointed they are hard to start. I take the winch everywhere with me now just incase. I have not used it again yet though. I am kind of itching to see what it can do.
willjones4 07-16-2004, 10:48 AM Yeah SrAtex, I don't know when it started but I have a 92 and damn near every bolt in th interior is torx....guess someone at Ford had a brother in law at Torx and well ya know.... :toothless Hey Ryan? How long is the wire on that winch?
SSgtTEX 07-16-2004, 10:52 AM must be, thank God i can just reach into my tool box and grab a socket to take the top off my 88. Let us know the limits of that winch cause for 50 bucks that might be something nice to toss in the back of the truck for those just in case moments
R94BroncoXLT 07-16-2004, 10:52 AM I belive 50ft I will check for you tonight.
willjones4 07-16-2004, 10:54 AM I have the day off so I'm gonna run by Pep Boys and look around :thumbup I'll let you guys know what I find.....
R94BroncoXLT 07-16-2004, 10:54 AM Ya I will get the make and model when I am home tonight.
stangmata 07-16-2004, 10:54 AM Glad to see your still alive, Ryan :goodfinge
R94BroncoXLT 07-16-2004, 10:57 AM ya i am down here in elmira working the summer away. wish it would stop raining so i could take the top off. you still in rochester??
stangmata 07-16-2004, 11:22 AM ya i am down here in elmira working the summer away. wish it would stop raining so i could take the top off. you still in rochester??
Yea. I'm in Rochester working the summer away :banghead I haven't had the top of yet...no way I can trust the weather this summer.
SSgtTEX 07-16-2004, 11:23 AM chit in AL you have random thunderstorms at least once a day
R94BroncoXLT 07-16-2004, 11:25 AM Ya really the forecast changes a couple of times a day every day
SSgtTEX 07-16-2004, 11:27 AM i swear, this is why i miss TX, it is hot, humid, and not a cloud in the sky all day and then out of no where, it starts pouring, thunder and lightning, the whole works. After about 30 minutes the sky is clear again.
stangmata 07-16-2004, 11:32 AM Ok. In rochester, the weather for saturday changed 5 times yesterday!!!!!!
You NEVER have a clue what the hell is going on up here.
SSgtTEX 07-16-2004, 11:38 AM well the weather seems to be the same for both of us. Except we have been having heat indexes of 107-110. im used to haveing over 100 temps but damn not this much humidity. that is what kills me, especially since i never run my ac
BroncoHound 07-16-2004, 09:49 PM Yeah we gots a old saying down hair in bamer... IF YA DONT LIKE THE WEATHER JUS WAIT 5 MIN!!!! :thumbup
BroncoDragon 07-17-2004, 02:10 AM The weather in Texas SUX. I'm gonna say that right now. And as far as that winch, i had a friend who went and bought one when he was stuck... Said he took it out to pull his truck out and his dog was standing near it and it snapped... only took its lower leg off. did it so fast that the dog didnt even have time to react, it just rolled over, and flew back about 10 ft. (course, dogs legs arent that big-a-round... but still) Ya better be careful there Ryan. Cant be losin a leg or three while your muddin' :banghead :duh :cry :thumbup PARTY HARD! :beer
willjones4 07-18-2004, 11:17 PM OK dudes, that portable "winch" :histerica is $60 at my local pep boys, it has 30ft of wire on it and pulls 6000 lbs rolling, 2000 drag, might be handy in a pinch-but when Ryan described it as cheap, well he wasnt lying
R94BroncoXLT 07-19-2004, 08:37 AM Ya that thing is cheep but it pulled me out. So I figure I all ready got my moneys worth
BroncoDragon 07-21-2004, 02:27 AM yeah and once again, glad you got out, i had to pull some idiot out this morning. damn jeeps. :boxing
willjones4 07-21-2004, 10:58 AM $50 on a cheap p.o.s. tool is a helluva lot cheaper than a tow truck! plus you still have it and may be able to use it again....I was out wheeling a few weeks ago and high centered in a small stream--I dug, jacked, used a come-along, blood sweat tears and LOTS of cussing, all to no avail, my rig (also my daily driver) was stuck for three days! Luckily I got someone in an F350 with a 12000 lb Warn to come pull me out....Id have gladly spent $50...
R94BroncoXLT 07-21-2004, 05:52 PM dam left it there for three days.
willjones4 07-22-2004, 10:39 AM Yeah, got it stuck on a Thursday or Friday and wasnt able to get pulled out till Sunday, aint THAT a bitch? Everyone I know was too scared to come back where I was---"wahhhh wahhhh I dont wanna get stuck" buncha wusses :rockon
repo_man 07-23-2004, 01:18 PM yeah and once again, glad you got out, i had to pull some idiot out this morning. damn jeeps. :boxing
yup been there, had to pull a jeep out a few years ago with my 95 f-150 :duh (primary vehicle at the time). i thought it was kinda funny. the sp at the gate couldnt believe my truck went everywhere 2 jeeps went and pulled one out. my purple beast was brown, i'll try todig up a pic anyway it was nice and glad you got out without spending a buttload cheaply. :clap
R94BroncoXLT 09-07-2004, 01:47 PM I can make it now. That hole is not going to stop me.
