Congress to Vote on H.R. 1925 America's Red Rock Wilderness Act This Thursday!

Moab Might Be Gone Forever!

The Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands of the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources has scheduled a hearing on October 1 to consider H.R. 1925, America's Red Rock Wilderness Act of 2009.

This legislation -- which will ban off-highway vehicle (OHV) access to public lands to those who live and recreate in
Utah -- was introduced by New York Representative Maurice Hinchey.

However, not a single Representative from Utah is supporting H.R.1925.

Specifically, H.R. 1925 would designate more than nine million more acres as federally protected "Wilderness," and directly affect the Moab, San Rafael Swell and Chimney Rock areas (to name a few) in Utah.

These popular OHV areas represent some of the most important remaining OHV recreation areas in Utah, and are some of the most popular with responsible OHV riders. The proposed Wilderness designation would also make the land off limits to ATV riders, mountain bikers and horseback
riders.

Coming on the heels of the recently enacted Omnibus Public Land Management Act, which closed 2 million acres of public lands, this vast Wilderness bill will take away additional recreation opportunities currently enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike.

The AMA needs your help now to stop H.R. 1925. The fastest way to reach your U.S. Representative is to call them. You can find contact information for your elected officials by entering your zip code on AmericanMotorcyclist.com, clicking on "Rights," then "Issues and Legislation." Additionally, a prewritten e-mail is available for you to send to your Representative immediately by following the "Take
Action" option and entering your information.

Please contact your Representative right away and urge them to oppose H.R. 1925.

It's VERY VERY SIMPLE! Just click here...

... and you will be taken to the AMA's (American Motorcycle
Association) website. Enter your zip code and a letter will be sent to your representative urging them to vote NO on this bill.

Do it NOW! please

Everybody help this Bill Fail!!!

I have already done this but thanks for posting it here.

I love that this is being proposed by a New York delegate and not a single Utah rep is in support.

Am I the only person who sees something wrong with this sentence?

I sent her my 2 cents worth. I doubt she even looks at any of it.

I wonder how many of the bicyclists are in favor of this, If it passes, they might as well turn the town of Moab into a ghost-town...It will die without the OHV money that supports that area!

It has not left committee yet.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1925

It has been proposed every congress since the 104th(we are at the 111th) and been deemed dead by every congress. This NY congressman puts it up every cycle. I wouldn't worry about it too much just yet.

This sounds like one of two things. 1- The congressman went to southern Utah for a visit, was overcome with warm fuzzy feelings and thought it was his "duty" to save the red rocks. 2 - There is some environmental lobbyist that has his ear and is using him to sponsor the bill. I would go with the second option as typically our Representatives and Senators are either too busy wheeling and dealing or too intellectually shallow to come up with legislation themselves that makes sense. Others write it, they sponsor it and they have no clue what is in it. This will kill off road activity in Southern Utah, Arizona and parts of Colorado if this passes. What a Jackass.

It has over 100 co sponsors all dems. Most likely it is used for political and donation purposes. They can go to the environmentals and show how they are working to protect nature. The fact that it never leaves the committee and is dead on arrival is not important. They can just say that they are fighting hard.

Politicians have hundreds of bills out there that do the same thing. One guy proposes a bill every congress to revoke the 2nd amendment. Its what career politicians do.

Points taken. I realize that is the way things work in the Beltway. It's unfortunate that the process works that way. Every once in a while some crazy legislation that no one thought had a chance to make it out of committee sticks because it became a bargaining chip and a politician/s had to put in play for whatever reason.

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration.

This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.
