want to get one of these eventually, didn't know one was made to custom fit the bronco. kinda pricey, but it looks nice. anyone have something similar they might recommend (with a pic)?

See my Superford site for close pics of mine, I didnt like the way surco wanted me to mount it, so I improvised. Also in hindsite I would have went with steel over aluminium. Such is life.

Mine is a wilderness rack made by Garvin. All steel and good quality. They have the mounts for Shovels, axes, hilifts and offroad lights if you have the extra money. I had one of these hold up really well in a rollover on my old 4runner. The brackets were twisted all to hell, but the rack itself was just scratched up. BTW the 4runner came to a rest on it's roof.

I just Mounted my Hi lift jack to mine, I made the mounts becuase it was cheaper and more fun. Looking to make mounts for my Ax/Shovel/ and Sledgehammer next, been getting some good ideas. Once I get new wider rims, I am putting a second spare up there too, will be right at the racks capacity I think, like I sais I should have went with steel, oh well next Bronco I will know better

Yeah, I had to re inforce mime when I mounted the high lift Jack, I made some Bump stops out of hock pucks becuase it made an awful racket when I hit speed bumps at 40MPH. and I could see it move when I would tap it. Least aluminuim dont rust.

Thanks for the compliment guys. I was looking at both the safari and wilderness when shopping for one. I just had good/only experience with the Garvin. So I figured I'ld stick w/ what I knew. They both look like they hold the same amount of equipment. It looks like the mounting system is the only real difference. Here are some pics of our 1800 mile trip cross country. It held up great with all of the family stuff in it. Kind of give you an idea of how much it can hold. I also was able to find a shot of one of the mounting brackets. There are two on each side. (yes that is a dog kennel the kids are playing in :toothless )

The best thing is that it only takes four nuts to disconnect the whole rack. The only thing left are the four channels. I promise no more pictures after this.

OK now you did it, I saw a hint of some kind of elevated carped storage area in the pic with the tailgate down, so make a liar out of yourself and post more pictures please! :thumbup

I don't have any more pics of it, sorry. The best I can do is zoom in on the "rednecks eating lunch pic" :toothless One of my freinds is suppose to be heading over to my sisters house to take some more pics of it soon. I have some other people that want to see the lift and tires(that would include me to). Basically it's a box mad out of 3/4" MDF that stretches from the back seat to the tailgate and from wheelwell to wheelwell. It's one box w/ two compartments: the first is about 12" wide and the width between the WWs.This compartment holds the two 10" subs. The second compartment is the storage area. It is big enough to hold an actual floor jack, tow straps, jumper cables, sear's 100 and some peice tool box, two other small tool boxes and a lot of other miscelleaneous items. The second compartment has a lid that is hinged and runs from on side of the truck to the other above both WWs. Kind of creating a false floor. No more knocking the dog silly while off road! I know pics would have been so much better, but I'll see is I can't get my freind over there soon and post them for you. BTW the whole box is carpeted w/ carpet from Lowes and liquid nails. Gotta love that stuff.

There is a guy on ebay that builds custom racks. I think is user ID is blackout@infomagic.net or something like that... I have one on my ZR2 Blazer and I love it. and best of all it was only $260

There are some pics of my roof rack/basket on my superford site. I used the Surco 45" x 50".
I have since bought the ax/shovel bracket and a pair of tabs for some lights.
I am now looking to add the spare tire carrier so that I can mount my full size spare up there.
I like mine a lot, but if you are apprehensive about drilling holes into the fiberglass top, you may want to reconsider - 10 holes drilled into the top of my truck to mount the rails.

I couldnt bring myself to buy the ax shovel rack, I am in the process of making one (tough without a welder) I already made a locking home made mount for my sledghammer, when I get both done I will post the pics

Got the ax/shovel mounts and pair of light tabs from a member here is CA (BroncoDan I believe, although I have not seen him around in a while). I was able to get them at his employee discount which made each of them right at half off of retail.
Otherwise they are kind of pricey.

That's very cool, my discount when I was in the industry was no where close to that good. I wouldnt mind seeing a picture of those brackets up close if you have one though

I will get some close up pics of the axe/shovel brackets and the two light tabs this weekend.
