I will FINALLY be going to paragon www.paragonap.com on the first weekend in April. I tried to go last weekend, but my wheeling friend got sick, so it didn't happen.

Anyway, this time its Paragon's Monthly Ride. That means they take guided groups through the park. That way, I won't need to worry about finding two other rigs to drive with.

I don't have final plans yet, for which day I'll be in Paragon. It's a 3 hour drive, so I'd like to also swing by Centralia while I'm in the area.

Okay, here are my plans so far.

Saturday morning, drive to Centralia. Spend the day exploring the town.

Saturday night, pitch some tents somewhere in or near Centralia. I figure that a ghost town's gotta have some place to camp for a night.

Sunday morning, break camp and head to Paragon. Trying to make it as close to the 8am opening time as possible

4pm Sunday, air up and drive home.


I've never been to Paragon or Centralia, so let me know if any of this sounds like a bad idea.

Come get the third member, I'm home everynight. In fact the guy who has my old 88 is coming up Friday night, he needs a pick up and wants to get rid of the Bronco because of poor MPG. So I'll definitley be there.

The boys at Twisted Wheelers are cool guys. We've met up with them a few times.

Theres a few small places, maybe an hour or so's worth of playin before it gets boring. The best place was closed off. :cry



As for the Swap Meet, well, its a three day thing. All weekend people are sellin stuff. Saturday is the truck & 4x4 shows, sunday is the classic car shows. Itll take you a little over half a day to walk the whole place. If you can keep up with me, that is. :goodfinge

if you go to the directions page, the Red Star on the map is actually the entrance to the airport, the entrance into the park is about one minute north of there. They cut an access road thru the woods that connects 527 & pension rd together right at the entrance to the park. (directly across the st. from it, to help alleviate traffic buildup) You can see it on the map as a thin line running mostly horizontal near the top.

How could you all not go? I'm gonna be wheeling with a stock grand cherokee and a stock explorer. I wont have anybody to ride with on the level 3 trails at paragon.

Level 2 what - blue's or green's (remember, all colors have three different levels to them - green 1, 2, 3; blue 1, 2, 3, etc)? I wouldn't suggest you guys run any higher than Blue 1's, maybe Blue 2's, not with stocks and not with the terrain being fairly new with the winter on its way out.

Paragon's site has the Level descriptions a little different than the actual trail descriptions themselves, so I would map out your route using low Blue's and high Green's. Anything higher than say a Blue 1 or 2, and you're going to start running into slight body damage and rocks. I think of many trails like Cherokee Ridge that are very tight and will scratch the s.hit out of the trucks. The other thing to remember is that they may not have been out awhile to re-rate the trails. I remember the last time we went that some of the trails were a little rougher than we expected for their rating.

If you've never been to Paragon at all, you're not going to be bored because even if you're running low trails, it's just fun to drive around and explore and even the lower trails are interesting and have some fun things on them.

well i think the highest level trail i've been on at paragon is a blue 2 so i think you'll be alright. No way a stock explorer or g.c. is goin on anything over green...well maybe a blue 1. hope they like body damage :thumbup

The site explains the trail raitings in levels 1 to 5(no mention of color), but the trails are labled Blue 2, Green 3, etc.
