The white thingy on the dash is for the musical horn the wife wanted, for the toggel switchs, one controls the electric fuel pump, one for the off-road lights and the others are for future upgrades/equipment that the wife and I have talked about. (Light bar on the top, some lighting on the rear and who knows what else.) Anyway it has really come together in the last few weeks and we can't wait to get some miles on it.

I'm thinkin' he means the outer tie rod/drag link, Tony? Maybe he'll
confirm.

Here is a pic of the front steering setup.

http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/5029/3017/new_c_bushings.jpg

Ok here goes. When we got the truck it had already been modified to the GM 8-lug stuff to match the rear 14-bolt. What we found out is that the front steering knuckles were installed inverted in other words the drivers side was installed on the passenger side and vise versa. What this does is get your steering parts mounted higher up and away from danger as far as ground clearance is concerned. The down side is that it makes the drag link tricky to install. All the steering connections as in the tie rod mounts and drag link mounts have a tapered hole and are intended to be installed in one direction that makes them stronger and less likely to seperate during normal conditions. However when you flip the steering knuckles upside down the tie rod ends still mount with no problem but it inverts the taper on the drag link connection and poses a problem. We corrected this by drilling the drag link hole to same diameter all the way through and eleminated the taper on the tie rod drag link mount. My father and I then used a layth and machined a tapered bushing that we pressed into the drag link mount and eleminated any slack at the point. Now if we have to replace the passenger tie rod then we have to press that bushing out of the tie rod and drill the replacement part and press the bushing into the new part. It only took us a couple of hours to get it done but with the family in the truck it was time well spent for safety's sake. And yes I will take the vacume to the truck very soon. Its hard to worry abour keeping it clean when your still wrenching on it to get all the bugs worked out. I hope this answers your questions and thanks for the great compliments.[/img]
