Just got my ARE black steel wheels for the truck. No more vibration at 100km. Stronger than my alum mags as well.
They are 15x8 with 4" backspace. Anybody know if I can get 12.5" tires on there and if so, will they rub bad? Should I have gotten the 15x10? Can't really afford those right now.

Sweet, A 12.5" tire should be ideal for an 8" rim. Some of the guys on pirate run 15" wide tires or even larger on 8' rims

How much rubbing will I get with the 12.5" tires though?

your offset is pretty decent, I am running 3.75". Depends on if we are talking 33's or 35's. 33's you may have none on the radius arms. You can always adjust your steering stops though.

I was told I couldn't get anything but 4" offset with these wheels. However I could have sworn that somebody told me that they had 3.75". That would have been perfect. Anybody know fer sure?

I don't know with your wheels, mine are US Wheel. I do want to mention I led this astray by calling it "offset". You began with "backspacing", and that is what we have been looking at, not offset. :slap me.

U remember the diff between offset and backspacing? I don't. :shrug
Too tired to search right now.

It is confusing, but backspace is measured from the wheel backing at the lug holes IN to the rim edge (the backside of the wheel).
Offset is again the wheel backing at the lug holes, measured to the actual center of the wheel.
Your wheels with 4" BS have more rim inside where they mount, so you could be a bit more prone to rubbing on the radius arms than I. You basically have no offset with an 8" wheel (mounting is right at the center of the wheel).

Well he said all I could get right now was a 4 inch backspace in the A.R.E. Maybe you guys down there have more options in a black steel rim?

This is a newbie/basic question, but I'm a newbie to the the forum.
What is the stock backspace/offest for a Bronco wheel? In particular for the stock 15" steel wheels on a 1994 Bronco (5.0L/5-sp stick)?
I bought my first Bronco in 1984 (350/4-sp stick). I live on top of an 8,300' peak in Colorado (220" snow a season, on average). Over the years, I've owned five Broncos, all with sticks. The road up to the house is the steepest paved road in the county (9.7% grade for 4½ miles; the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is an average 7½% grade). I'm a volunteer fireman, so I have to respond (typically down a dirt road) in all conditions, at all hours. I stick with 31"x10.5x15 tires (Bridgestone Revos, since Pirelli stopped making the Scorpion). I'm asking about the offset because I'd like to get a nice set of _strong_ alloy rims, and I don't want to mess up the handling. I haven't made many changes to the truck. I replaced all the suspension bushings with Energy Suspension graphite impregnated polyurethane ones. I replaced the stock shocks with KYB gas shocks. I put on a cat-back and a free-flow muffler, but everything still looks stock.
The 31" tires give me enough clearance for what I have to deal with, and I want to be able to corner very quickly on washboard dirt roads (often off-camber turns). In other words, I don't want to lift the truck. I might put ladder bars on the back, to try to control wind-up when I power out of a turn.
So, that really means three questions:
1) What's the offset on stock wheels?
2) What would you recommend for a STRONG alloy rim in the stock size? I've been looking at Centerline's website, but don't know much about them.
3) Any preferences on ladder bars?
Thanks in advance.

I would pose my question to Shadowfax if I were you. He seems to know what he's talking about.
