Trying to plan a weekend trip the GW Forest. In the area of Second Mountain. Wheelin', campin' a little , you know. I was thinking of the weekend of April 17/18. Any takers? FYI - that's in Virginia, near the WVa line.

Doh! I am dog sitting and have some other obligations that keep me from being able to vacate the Baltimore area for the weekend.

Sorry. It was a Chihuahua. Wouldn't want a local squirell to eat it. Plus the owner was worried about taking the dog anywhere. Being that she was testing for her 3rd degree black belt the next weekend I decided to agree to keeping the dog there. How was the trip? I've never been to GW state forest.

I couldn't find it on Virginia or West Virginia's DNR/DCR websites. :shrug You could IM him. He listed his SN in his profile.

I believe the area is called Dry River District for forest service purposes. It is about 12 miles west of Harrisonburg, Va. on Rt. 33. Rawley Springs is the closest "town". Second Mtn, Dictum Ridge, Gawley Ridge are a few of the trails in the area. Hope this helps. Let me know.

Yeah that sounds like the Dry river section that I found on the website.

The trails I went on were on the South side of Rt. 33. I have an old Delorme map but the trail head was not on it. Woah, I just saw this thread for the first time, not sure how that happened
The reason you didn't seee the thread sooner is because my dumbass self didn't post it early enough. :brownbag
