my dad had that on his 2 wheeldrive chevy (extcab) it was loud and had a nice rumble but it vibrated apart stuff in the cab(he hates rattles, squeek) so he took it off but, if i had a chance to do this to my truck i would

I have a gibson supertruk exhaust, took some custom work to make it fit. Its really for pick-ups and lightnings.

Had a friend once that had them on his 72 blazer, with the lift everytime you slid out of the truck, you burned your legs!

mines simliar to the one shown above. i have one pipe on one side and i had it bent and installed after the cat for under $50. No muffler. If you want to do that and see how it sounds feel free to stop by and ill start and run it for you.

I think i'm a little older than some of you ( most ,LOL ).What I'm looking for are the chrome side pipes that hang from just below the door and exit just in front of the rear tires(similar to Zach's) Normally they run down both sides and are ment to be seen . Like these

Just wanted to know if anybody ever installed them on their Bronco.....keeping in mind I have to keep the cat on and need some kind of mufflers (or do I ).How loud is the 5.8 running through cat then out the pipe? If so how bad was the install ?[/img]

I have never had a problem with that, even the one time I went wheelin with it. If it was ever gonna see alot of trails I would have never put it on, even though i got it cheap. 65.00 new

mine exit behind the rear wheels, and it rubs a lil bit but that should be fixed soon

I too was refering to the "side pipes" that hang oiff the side also the smaller ones were "lake pipes"...if you have any kids I would advise against it. Otherwise it would look kinda cool. routing would be a nitemare!

I remember them well DirtDigger

and while I've never seen em' on a Bronco, I am intimately aware of where our exhaust components are. Your second cat is already halfway past where a side pipe would start.

Even if you ditched them it would be a tight and immediate turn off the manifolds I'd bet.

Liked them on Cobras and early Vettes, but I'd bet they'd burn a lot of people mounted that high on a Bronco.

Try em'

Your looking for the Thrush side pipes. I bought a set of ebay in really good cond. They were made in different lengths. They also made a chrome slotted cover that dissapated heat and kept you from burning your legs. I found a set of the covers for the length of my side pipes. Thrush has been bought out / revived by Dynomax, but they don't make replacement mufflers for these pipes anymore. The sidepipe housing is a finned aluminum tube 3 1/2" inside diameter. The mufflers are 45" long not including in and out ends! I found a place that makes Chevy chambered exhaust pipes any length/size you want and am going to have some made for my Thrush pipes. Possibly in SS. Mine are for a different project - not my Bronco, but I did toy with the idea. I have Smittybilt side nerf bars though.

What you are looking for are the old school Thrush side pipes. I got a set of near new ones off ebay. They were made in different lengths. They also made a slotted chrome cover that kept your legs from burning on them. I found a set of them for my length also. Thrush has been bought out / revived by Dynomax, but they don't make replacement mufflers. The side pipe tube is a finned aluminum tube 3 1/2 in. inside diameter. My mufflers are 45" long not including the in/out pipe ends! You could probably run a bullit type muffler in there with some muffler wrap to keep them from banging around, but I found a place that makes Chevy chambered exhaust pipes any size length or dia. and probably will go that route. My Thrush pipes are for a different project. I toyed with the idea of putting them on my Bronco, but I have Smittybilt nerf bars. Both the side pipe ends front and rear are cast aluminum. They look cool!
