I havent been drivin my 90 since the summer, but every so often i'll fire it up and drive around the block. This time a steady stream of white smoke which smelled like either old oil build-up or rubber. Comes out around the second plug on the drivers side or below it, cant realy tell.

It already had a leak, could this be build-up of that oil or maybe from sitting around be a gasket burning up? I see oil build-up on the valvecovers, could that be the culprit? From sitting its just leaking down that way? The other side has some oil also but no smoke. It has 127,000 on the OD.

Is the smoke coming off the exhaust manifold like oil has dripped onto it and is burning off? I don't quite understand what you mean by smoke leaking.

Whe I said leak, i mean oil leaking. I hope that its oil just burning off.

Okay, it does sound like maybe the valve cover gaskets are drying up from sitting. Try snugging up the bolts, they could be loose.

I hope its as easy as that, and not something like a header gasket.

No I don't think so either, I believe MM is right. If it has been sitting a while they get hard and britlle almost like your, never mind. When you are driving the truck daily it keeps the gasket soft, so it wont leak as much. Do what MM said, and good luck.

I'll do that tomorrow. Is there any good products for cleaning oil off the engine?
