i am thinking about moving to califorinia, & was wondering if there are any state inspections or emmissions that i would have to go through to move there, or pass every so many years. if so, i was wondering if my truck would pass. the only thing i can think of that are illeagal over here are the crack in my windsheild, my 33x12.50s stick out of the fender wells a little, & my 4" suspension lift. which makes my bumpers past leagal limit, but with just 33s & no lift it was illegal anyways. by the way, this concerns the 95 in my sig pic. will have to leave the 89 behind :cry.

You're worried about 33" tires and a 4" lift?! :histerica Here in So. CA, guys run around w/15-20 inch lifts and 49's. Depending on where you plan to live, certain areas may be stricter on lift laws and emision testing. Here in So. CA they put your truck on a dyno and put a load on the truck to simulate "normal" driving. Other areas (rural areas) in CA just put your rig in Park and rev it to the required rpm to check emission levels...

i know theres huge trucks over there, but i just wanted to make sure. so lifts are leagal? because almost ANY modifacation is illeagal in maryland.

EDIT: i would be living in riverside.

The lift issue goes off of gross vehicle weight. Depending on how much it weighs depends on how high it can be. I know my '83 Toyota was legal there with a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift and 38.5" Gumbo's.

yeah, the emissions here suck, you need two cats, and you can't have dual exhaust on your bronco or it wont pass.

hope your used to hot weather! Riverside todays was about 100* and barely any wind. And you get to get used to the wonderful smell of cows. And yes everyone else was correct you can go about as hiogh as you want, and our emissions laws are very strict. And last but not least get ready to pay a fortune for gas out here! :cry

I know some guys that run some pretty big tires, ya they get pulled over, but usually for nothing more than a weenie fix it ticket for mud flapps or something. At least you know your not gonna get a speeding ticket.

I'm runnin 35's and have been pulled over a few times and they never said anything about my tires sticking out a little bit. I dont think its much of an issue untill you get above 40'' or 42'' tires.

Well,if your moving to riverside,i highly doubt you will ever have to worry about your truck being lifted too tall...I think that is the show truck capital since Gibson and a couple of other big name off road chains are near the area of Riverside...I know i have seen trucks on the freeway in Riverside where you can literally walk under the truck..Superduties,h2s,avalanches all with double digit lifts....I have a 78 bronco with a 16-17" lift with 44s and i didnt get pulled over when i was driving it...No mud flaps either...Dont have to worry too much about the lift law

As for the emissions, there is always ways around it...no need to say more. :toothless

that is true. :toothless

its getting harder to get around tho. the goverment is getting tougher and are tracking people down big time over this. sometimes the police will set up mobile smog stations to smog those who look suspecious. if u fail ur vehicle will get impounded straight up. we pretty much live in the capital of Eco. Nazis so what do u expect. they will eventually get u or ur smog place. it may sound harsh but that is the truth so i try to stay on teh cool side with the emissions.
we have no inspections

As far as the emissions...
as long as your truck is as equipted from the factory for where it was originally sold (Federal or California) you can pass the test out here(assuming it runs clean enough to pass the sniffer). I have done it on a couple cars brought in from out of state.

Heck I run 'round here with a cracked windscreen for 6.5 years and never been pulled over for it. 4" + 3" lift and 35's no problem....no mud flaps...tube bumper that probably doesn't meet the legal requirments....still not a problem.

Hey bro...what zip code are you moving to in Riverside? There are areas of Riverside, San Bernardino, and other counties in CA that don't require smog testing.
