View Full Version : northern Utah wheeling. OldBlue 04-29-2004, 11:52 PM hey guys I was thinking maybe we could all meet up on like the 8th *sunday* and go play around/go have burger. anyone up for it? rajncajn 04-30-2004, 11:08 AM thats mothers day and my "ma" is coming to visit me from way back in mississippi. any other weekend and I'd be in. holler at me if its gonna be another weekend. my number is 870-9785. Monte 04-30-2004, 05:11 PM yep sorry got to be with mom that day. OldBlue 04-30-2004, 05:24 PM DOH! I forgot it was mothers day. maybe we can push it to the next weekend? Justin's bronco 05-02-2004, 05:33 PM yep, mothers day wont work for me, but maybe the weekend after that. 351Bronco 05-03-2004, 01:33 AM Yeah, I got Prom on the 8th and mothers day is the 9th, so next weekend isnt too good. But id be down to go the weekend after. Preferably on Sunday (I have to work saturday night). I might even be able to convince my girl to come along. She thinks Im a crazy driver cus I pull the E-brake on my T/A in snowy parking lots :toothless Anywho, Id love to do some wheelin, its been quite a while since ive gone. Monte 05-03-2004, 03:24 AM The weekend after mom's day I woul dbe down. I think I can get a few other jeeps and a bronco too. OldBlue 05-04-2004, 07:18 PM I asked if john wants to go *I think you know him monte* he has a blue bronco like mine with a 6" lift and 35's Monte 05-04-2004, 07:41 PM where would we go and how hard? I don't wana get stuck :D godless 05-04-2004, 11:41 PM I am down for the weekend of the 15th/16th. I would prefer to go on Sunday. Garth since your Bronco is down you can ride with me Bro. That would be awesome. I will Maverik, and you can be Goose. LOL. Burl Swift 05-05-2004, 10:31 AM I'll have to take turns riding with you and Chris. Marin doesn't like his driving...I'll have to switch off being Goose and Merlin. :histerica Hey Jer...are you going to get that steering stableizer on before then? rajncajn 05-05-2004, 01:15 PM that weekend sounds good to me as well...yeah, maren might have to ride with jer for awhile..i don't want to hear her whine! if its saturday, maren has to work, but if its sunday she can go with me. Monte 05-05-2004, 01:40 PM I just remembered that Saturday would also be bad for me, my bronco is in a car show but Sunday I can make it. Burl Swift 05-05-2004, 01:54 PM Sounds like Sunday is the best for everyone then. Are we calling it official...? May 16th...? Justin's bronco 05-05-2004, 03:58 PM Sunday works for me. Lets make it a HARD trail so I can justify towing the sami there. Monte 05-06-2004, 03:43 AM Okay i'll be the first to ask. Where the hell are we guna do this, what time and for how long. :shrug OldBlue 05-06-2004, 04:14 AM welp, I figure we can do it up by the B follow skyline up MAYBE hit old wards road if we cna fit the broncos past the first washout the rest will be gravy. only thing that a stock bronco would have to worry about is 'big momma' if you want hard we can come out at buckland flats then isntead of tying back into skyline theres a quad trail that you go up that can get pretty weird. havent been up it this year so I dont know how bad it will be it was pretty bad last summer. broncos wont fit I dont think unless you dont care about scratches and having to push over an occasional tree *scrub oak* jsut past buckland flats theres a BUNCH of snow we can play in and see hwo high we can make it up the trail. hope everyone has snatch straps if we do that. we could go play up there for a couple hours, if everyone REALLY wants to we can also hit north canyon and play in the mud. Monte 05-06-2004, 08:19 PM Well I went up on my atv last night on the old fire road to Buckland and there's NO WAY I'm taking my bronc on a trail that's just wide enough for an atv. I like my black paint job too much. When I was up there I hit snow about 400 yards from the top of skyline road (which could be fun). And North canyon is okay but just keep in mind that some old man throws down nails on the road. I got 2 in my atv last week. Is there any other places we could go????? OldBlue 05-07-2004, 06:06 AM my buddy kevin was talking about snakebite trail? down in lehi but its rated 5 and stock broncos wouldnt even come close to making it. I am keeping in mind we have some NICE/stock/inexperienced wheelers going. Im gonna try and sneek my bronco by the first washout on old ward road. and then we can see how close it is after that. but I think the trailer measuers 70 inches wide at the first washout and I need 77-77 inches and thats jsut the boddy. Ill prolly end up taking a mirror off lol godless 05-07-2004, 01:20 PM I am 100% down to go on Sunday the 16th. However, I only have 1 seat in my Bronco (Back seat is not in), and if my GF goes then it will be just her and I in my Bronco. If she doesnt go then anyone can ride with me. As far as terrain goes. I dont care about scratches, an occasional (small) dent here and there is all good by me. However, I DO NOT WANT TO DESTROY MY TIRES. 37" MTR's are impossible to find, and even though I have road hazard warranty it will be 6-8 months before the tire can be replaced. That is my only request. Sounds like it will be fun. Cant wait to go break in the Bronco! OldBlue 05-07-2004, 01:32 PM same with my sidewinders they are pretty hard to find so im of the same thinking jer. :-D Monte 05-07-2004, 04:13 PM no shit, my BFG muds are impossible to find. LOL :histerica 351Bronco 05-07-2004, 04:18 PM Im down for the 16th as well. Although I have almost the exact same setup as Brad does. Only difference is he has 33's, and I have a 351. Since Im kinda new to wheeling, I'll just follow his lead. Im not concerned about brushes or scratches....since i dont have paint :toothless Looks like I need to head to the yards this next week and look for some tow hooks :thumbup godless 05-07-2004, 08:54 PM Sounds like we will have quite the crew. Justin's bronco 05-08-2004, 01:53 AM my buddy kevin was talking about snakebite trail? down in lehi but its rated 5 and stock broncos wouldnt even come close to making it. Ill prolly end up taking a mirror off lol The trail is rattlesnake, It is only a 3 rated trail but I think a stock bronco is two wide to make it up without major body damage. I did it in my sami on 30's and lincoln lock front but it took some work. If you want to come down this way we could make it out to little moab. It is about a hour out of SLC and there is something for everyone. Basically it is a couple hugh formations of rocks that you can crawl over. While were out there we could hit Nutty Putty cave since it is right around the corner. Just a suggestion on some places to go. Monte 05-08-2004, 02:52 AM little moab is fun but not for stock trucks, there's not much to do if your stock. Monte 05-08-2004, 01:49 PM Hey OldBlue. Are you calling me Nice/stock and inexperienced? That's not nice. :D HAHAHAHAHAAH OldBlue 05-10-2004, 01:27 AM newb.... :goodfinge lol ok so how bout this. We all meet up at common cents in bountiful *400 north and 500 west* at 12:30 in the afternoon on sunday. And we can go from there. Anyone have any motorola talkabouts or digi cams? Ill prolly go snap a talk about but we needs some freakn pics. :chili: PS. If anyone needs to call me *and im gonna get slaughterd for this but since I dont have a comp right now its my only choice* you can reach me at 801 750 5110 leave a message if I dont answer and Ill call you back. make sure you leave your name thougggghhh. lates Brad 351Bronco 05-10-2004, 03:34 PM I have a digital camera, and i think i have some talk abouts laying around somewhere, actually. :thumbup 12:30 sounds pretty good to me. Garth, Chris, and I will probably cruise on up together ( unless garth is riding with someone else). Burl Swift 05-10-2004, 03:39 PM We need to find out about the "woman" situations for all of us SLC folks. I know Jer(Beerman) is probably going solo, but we need to find out if Chris(rajncajn) is bringing his girl and also if my girl wants to go. I figured I'd switch off from Jer and Chris's rigs since mine is DOA, and we(Jer, Chris, Drew, and whoever else is in SLC) can all meet up at my house before we drive up to Bountiful. godless 05-10-2004, 04:38 PM Garth, that sounds good to me. I am still not 100% sure if BreAwn is going or not. We need to get together this weekend and discuss it more and possibly wrench a little on my PIG. Like I said before if BreAwn doesnt go then Garth, Allie, Chris, etc. are always welcome in my rig, just remember I only have the front seats. I Do have a back seat, but no seat belts anymore. So I have to buy some seat belts and fab something up before the back seat goes back in. (That is the reason). Understandable right? Garth give me a call this week if you want to hang out. Burl Swift 05-10-2004, 04:50 PM *In his best Cheetch voice* "You don't need no stinkin' back seat!" I'll call ya Jer, maybe Wednesday we can put on the steering stableizer of yours. Monte 05-10-2004, 09:57 PM So has everyone desided where we are going. My girl Lindsy is coming with me so there's one girl at least . Justin's bronco 05-11-2004, 12:30 AM Not gonna make it. I ended up being strapped for cash. :banghead :cry OldBlue 05-11-2004, 03:35 AM that sucks dude! try and bum some. if I have some extra Ill loan ya a couple $$$ I know jessie *my girl* wants to go, and a couple guys from around here want to go. so yeah. how many RIGS are we gonna have? My rig, jers, drews, theres a jeep thats going, Monte, another bronco, possibly 1 more bronco *both guys that come into my store* and a couple other possiblys on that list. Burl Swift 05-11-2004, 10:10 AM RajnCajn is going as far as I know. I'll give him a call this afternoon to verify. 351Bronco 05-12-2004, 01:43 PM Yeah, Jeriel ( my girl) doesnt know if she can make it. Her parents are a bit on the stalinistic side so shes a maybe. I still have all my seats in the bronc, so I can take 3 maybe 4 (depending on whether Jeriel comes along or not) people. I still plan on going, Im gonna have to drive my T/A around to save the gas thats in the bronco, then squeeze my grandma for a few extra dollars come sunday :toothless. Does anybody know exactly where we are goin yet? I assume that since were meetin at 12:30 that everybody will have had a chance to eat lunch? Burl Swift 05-12-2004, 01:43 PM Ok...so is this run set in stone now? These are the details as I know them: First - Brad has an idea of where we are wheeling Second - We all meet up at common cents in bountiful *400 north and 500 west* at 12:30 in the afternoon on Sunday. (SLC rigs can meet at my house say around 11?) Third - Game on! godless 05-12-2004, 06:50 PM Yes, Garth I will be at your place at 11:00am. Sounds perfect. I dont know my way around Bountiful and stuff so I will have to follow someone. Oh and people who are going I cant stress this enough. If you dont have tow points on your rig, break down and spend 30 bucks and get some. You can get a ball for the rear bumper, and just get two tow hooks for the front. I am not at all trying to sound like a dick, I just want you to be prepared in case we see a lot of mud or snow, etc. No one wants to have their bumper ripped off because they didnt put tow hooks on. Know what i mean? But on a more positive note, I cant farcking wait to break in my PIG. It is going to be a blast. I am going to work on the Bronco right now, talk at you all later. Monte 05-12-2004, 07:38 PM Common Cents is really easy to find. All you SLC guys coming on I-15 North, get off exit 321 and you'll see it. Brad what do you think we'll do? I know that the gate is still closed from the Peak to Farmington because of drifts so that's out. Have you drove up Ward road yet(fire break trail) I have been up it a couple time on my ATV and it seems okay. But I'm one of those who hate marks on my fenders so Buckland is the highest I'll go on the small trail. It sounds like we have a few guys going. 351Bronco 05-13-2004, 02:13 AM I can lead us from Garth's house, I know my way around bountiful pretty good :thumbup Looks like im goin to the junkyard and lookin for some dodges on saturday, I'll just mount the hooks where my front sway bar used to be :rockon. I already have a ball, but I cant seem to find my pin. Anybody have one I can borrow for the day? TTBlows 05-13-2004, 01:09 PM tow strap hooked around a ball = death get real tow hooks OldBlue 05-13-2004, 03:20 PM right now, Im thinking bucland will be the highest we go on old ward road rather than taking that sidespur/shortcut. we'll jsut get back on skyline and head up a little further and play in the snow. Yes we will get a chance to eat if everyone wants to. theres a couple restraunts around. yes get tow points, specially if everyone decides they want to hit north canyon. there is a mud bog there. not very big, but its deep ad sticky. Ill give you details on the bog when we get here. if you go thru the wrong part your rig will need everything short of a backhoe to get out. PLEASE give me a call guys, I have no computer right now, this is my buddies. 750 5110. OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT!!!! A buddy of mine, his brother is one of the owners of UROC. I asked him if he could maybe line some stuff up for us, for a future event where he could get some of the UROC rigs to come out. AKA the UROC 6x6 :rockon 351Bronco 05-14-2004, 08:46 PM Ok, good, so Im thinkin Ill just grab a couple of tow hooks, and put one on front and one on back? i really dont wanna get stuck somewhere in the middle of BFE ( of course a lof of that has to do with me). But no time like the present to grab some tow hooks and put them to use. :thumbup Oh..Jeriel isnt going to make it, so I have 4 empty seats in the bronco Justin's bronco 05-14-2004, 11:25 PM We need to find out about the "woman" situations for all of us SLC folks. CHA, CHING :rockon Just cashed in on some dues plus rounded up some other cash. So I guess I will be going. Burl swift, were do you live so I can meet there. call me 953-9244. Also, I have atleast the back seat and maybe a spare front seat if anybody wants to catch a ride. godless 05-16-2004, 12:56 AM Got the add a leafs on today. I am ready for tomorrows trip. The only thing that sucks now is I think I need to have my driveline extended and balanced. More money I DONT have. 351Bronco 05-16-2004, 04:12 AM Yeah, I know what ya mean Jer. I went to the yards and asked how much for ow hooks...5 bucks a piece. I just went to AutoZone and picked up some 10,000 lb rated hooks for $6.99. I figured it was worth it that way I wasnt busting my ass to take em off just to put them back on. So we're all meeting at garth's around 11 am tomorrow? Sounds good I'll be there. Justin- Just take 3500 south (In WVC) to 3600 west. Turn northbound on 3600 and go through the next two lights. You want to turn in the last neighborhood road on your right, if you drive past a mervyns warehouse, you've gone too far. Once on the neighborhood road, take the first right, you cant miss it, Garth's bronco is in the driveway, plus Im sure there will be others. If you get lost, or need better directions, gimme a ring at 916-1632. Just ask for Drew (thats me :toothless) godless 05-16-2004, 05:48 AM See you all in like 8 hours. Its late, I am going to bed. Monte 05-19-2004, 03:48 PM so what's up with you bronco Beerman? I heard it was your spider gears? Burl Swift 05-19-2004, 03:57 PM so what's up with you bronco Beerman? I heard it was your spider gears? Yeah, it was both of his spider gears. He bought a full Detroit Locker to install, and we pulled his axle out from under his truck yesterday. We just need to bring it to the guy who will install it now, hopefully today. Question for ya...do you know what part number your 2brl carb is? I want to look into them. And what about your intake? Monte 05-19-2004, 07:28 PM I'll look and see if I can find a number and i'll get back with ya. My intake is a 4 barrell Edelbrock. godless 05-19-2004, 08:46 PM Yup, spider gears like Garth said. Monte thanks again for your help bud. I dont suppose you know anyone who can install a full Detroit do you? Monte 05-20-2004, 12:02 AM I sure do. He's one of my buddies that owns a very nice shop in Centerville. If you want I'll call him and see what I can do for you. I know he's good because he's done 3 lockers for me. I would just make sure that you have everything to get it done. Also I get really close to cost at 4 wheel parts so keep that in mind. Later. godless 05-20-2004, 12:19 AM Thanks, I am having Andy do my Detroit install hopefully, He just got back from the BFG comp at Moab today. He lives in Kaysville, and seems like a good guy, but is also very busy. He works at 6 states, and runs his own shop, also is a part of Hollywood rock racing. So hopefully all will go well tomorrow, and he wont fall through. If something happens though I will PM you for some assistance. Monte 05-20-2004, 03:12 AM Sound good. Just let me know. |
