on Tuesday 4/27 me my friend jim (owner of the f150) and our friend mark went out some snowmobile trails in the UP (upper peninsula...of michigan) it was easy going for the most part a few good bumps and nice muddy ruts. Then it happened... THE BRIDGE. In the UP we have bridges over small creeks so that they can be used all year long. In the winter the snowmobiles make them hard packed in the center for about a width of 4 feet. At the bridge both of them look at me and i say, of course, Go for it... well jim did :twak . the f150 had no chance. it got most of the way there and sank up to the hitch in hard icy old snow. we were out there from 6 pm to midnight. we had to call our friend with this little "geo" tracker :brownbag she brought out the shovel that we used to dig ourselves out. Thank god were out :beer :clap
Thats not where it ends though the next day me and jim go out there again but we take my bronco which is bummin on bad auto hubs (soon to get fixed) and we park the bronco at the bridge and the f150 plows through today.. making it through yesterdays apex we are on a high and decide to keep going when we see the next bridge. :thumbup
The next bridge is awesome the snow is exactly as wide as the truck.. no margin for error :wacko . well 95% of it we error free at the end he started to fall off and backs up on to the snow. going forward again he falls off the other side :slap . no the rear axle is buried again and the truck is now leaning at a 45 degree angle sideways and the front fender is leaning on the end of the guard railling.. THANK GOD IT WAS THERE :cry with out that it was going to fall 10 upside down in a shallow creek in the middle of yooper country. :cry :banghead :twak :slap :cry
We were out there for a good 5 hours trying our damnist to get out using our tools, a shovel and a hatchet to cut away the snow. didnt work we had to hump ourselves out at dark. we came back today with a 4 ton hand winch and a haudrlic bottle jack and after 25 min we were out. :goodfinge bridges :chili: :chili: :chili: :clap :clap
Lesson learned : Even in April you can still get stuck in snow and nothing can beat being prepared. my friend jim is an eagle scout "be prepared" my a$$
