ok, long story short....(i have to be at work in :30) i was mudding with my 78, and my buddies 91 wrangler. i came upon some ruts i have been through countless times. halfway through, i start to slow down, and as any lead foot would do, i gun it, and ended up sinking it. my differentials were buried a good 6". well, since there werent any trees around (how ironic) i decided to give winching w/ my buddies jeep, i knew it was WAY lighter and 99% sure it wouldnt work. and it didnt. i held down the fort while they drove around looking for a big truck to come help me out. turns out a newer Chevy (z71? i dont remember) was who they found (or at least willing) he tried and tried to tug me out. after about 20 minutes of headscratching and brainstorming, we decide to jack up the front, put logs under the tires and give it a whirl. that took WAY longer than i thought, however our patience paid off. he pulled me out. i was under my own power he just hooked my winch cable to his brush gaurd and "helped" me along. :shrug:
after that my friend filled his tank for doing it...(it took a good hour and a half, and he did a LOT of the dirty work)
we went on our way, found some smaller soupier ( :clap ) ruts that were more challenging, and had no more problems.
well my friend did. i told him when we left, its a good thing im gonna be with him so i can winch him out. well yeah, he was laughin at me.
but i laughed last. i had to winch him out 4 times after i got unstuck.
in all, a good day. a learning experience.
now off to work. :ugh:
