Crazed 05-07-2003, 01:08 PM Nice...I sure hope a job dosent get in the way...but it is a go for now!!
Dustin 05-07-2003, 01:11 PM so these are the dates for sure now? I was planning to go in sept with scott
TTBlows 05-07-2003, 02:04 PM I think Scott's going in October with us. I spoke with him on the phone about it.
Yes, these are the dates now.
A few inconsiderate people managed to move the whole trip by a week. It's a long story and I'm still extremely pissed about it. It's not important now and I need to get over it.
This is why I'm no longer involved in the planning, I'm just an attendee.
Dustin 05-07-2003, 02:38 PM maybe i screwed up the months or something I just remember hearing sept come up, oh well I dont care when Im defenitly going thats for sure.
plug ugly 05-07-2003, 07:14 PM yeah KL are you still going in sept?
TTBlows 05-08-2003, 01:29 AM yeah KL are you still going in sept?
I *can*, on a weekend at least.
I mean we're over there quite a bit since it's so close.
But I'll be using the majority of my vacation time for South Dakota and the 6-10 in October. I might go do some pre-running in Sept, or we might just be over there to camp and get away.
92-F150 05-08-2003, 03:41 PM What if you don't have a bronco? I'm sure a few people down here would be interested in going but only one of them drives a bronco and its not even fullsize. Is this a bronco only run? Please tell me if it is. I'm not going to get butt hurt or anything but I really wouldn't want to crash their party.
Thanks
Dustin 05-08-2003, 03:45 PM Im not organizing this event so I cant say for sure but I dont think it would be a problem.
TTBlows 05-08-2003, 03:49 PM Nah, the idea of 2bigbroncos.org is that anyone is welcome, regardless of vehicle make. It will be primarily Broncos but anyone is welcome.
I'd personally discourage tube buggies just 'cause they'll be bored...... but I'm not an organizer so I can't officially discourage anyone.
92-F150 05-08-2003, 04:16 PM Right on! I'll talk to a few friends out here and see if we can make it out. I for sure want to go. Thanks for the heads up.
Dustin 05-08-2003, 04:45 PM if you decide to go let me know and we will meet in phx and caravan up there....I know we will have a couple people here going
Dustin 05-12-2003, 12:14 AM register thing dosent work....but im going for sure so count me in
81Bronk36 05-12-2003, 12:24 AM But I'll be using the majority of my vacation time for South Dakota and the 6-10 in October.
EWW it would be nice if my bronk had all 4 tires on it by then but its a very long shot!
seboh 05-13-2003, 05:35 PM register thing dosent work....but im going for sure so count me in
Looks like it worked three times for you....
Dustin 05-13-2003, 10:54 PM damn...it had some kinda error so i kept trying but it must have worked
seboh 05-14-2003, 12:38 PM What kind of error? What did it say?
Dustin 05-14-2003, 10:23 PM all hell i forget what it was now...
Dustin 05-15-2003, 02:12 AM I just looked at the calender and the 6-10 is right in the middle of the week....who picked that? and why in the middle of the week? I would have at least thought it would have been over a weekend or something?
TTBlows 05-15-2003, 10:22 AM I just looked at the calender and the 6-10 is right in the middle of the week....who picked that? and why in the middle of the week? I would have at least thought it would have been over a weekend or something?
That's how most "big" events are homeboy. That's why they call it "vacation." The weekends are for traveling, the week is for 'wheeling.
When you're coming from someplace like North Carolina a quick weekend trip just ain't possible.
Dustin 05-17-2003, 07:25 PM I was just hoping it would be on once of my 5 day off times so I wouldnt need to take vacation time...oh well I will take that week off then my 5 day comes up right after that so I will techically have 2weeks off
BoulderBronco 07-14-2003, 12:11 AM I just saw this post. Count me in for sure. Should be perfect weather that time of year. By the way nice job Dustin, Joe and others on giving us guys here in the mountains our own forum.:thumbup :thumbup :thumbup
Dustin 07-14-2003, 01:15 AM I see this was moved in here....I was looking for it the other day and couldnt find it. :banghead
I cant wait to go! counting the days as we speak
Dustin 07-14-2003, 11:19 PM looks like we may ave alot of company out there......http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=159167
BoulderBronco 07-15-2003, 12:00 AM Dustin, have you reserved a campground yet? I am trying to convince a good "friend" of mine to come out for the trip. She live is NY so it's a planning thing. Just wondering if there were still sites available.
Dustin 07-15-2003, 02:16 AM as far as i know(info from the 2bb link) we have space at the slickrock campground.
now what Im thinking of doing is staying at a motel up the road. I did this last time and it was soooo nice. I think it was moab inn or something. dont get me wrong I like camping but for this long of a trip its nice to have a good bed. The rooms are reasonable and usally a buddy and I will split it so its really cheap. I think it was something like 60 bucks a night then split it and its cheap. I need to also figure out when we are all supposed to be getting up there. is everyone getting there on monday or is the first run monday morning? or is there even a runs scheduled yet? Im trying to figure when to leave since it will be a day up and a day back
where you at keith since you know all this.
BoulderBronco 07-18-2003, 02:04 AM Well I have no idea what is going on there. I just figured I would head there Sunday night or Monday morning and find Big Broncos everywhere. Keith, whats your story? Do you have more details?
Dustin 07-18-2003, 02:09 AM I emailed shawn for more details and will let you know when i hear more
TTBlows 07-18-2003, 07:19 PM I'll say this: I'm trying to stay out of the organization side of it. Everybody wants to bitch and moan about something, and I have no patience for that shit. Shawn (I think) reserved one group site at Slickrock, looks like the others are taken by NAXJA. I do not know how many people a group site will accomodate. A call to the campground would solve that.
I was originally naive enough to think I could help plan this thing, but like I said, I don't have the patience. I wanted to just call it quits, but Shawn wanted to keep up with the planning..... so I've tried to turn everything over to him.
My plan is this: show up Sunday evening, maybe Saturday 'cause I'm so close. On Monday thru Friday I plan to lead a trailride. That's because we're there (or at least I am there) to 'wheel. Some will stand around and pick their asses, some will stand around and pick their noses. Some will whine about the heat or the cold, some will want to go later or earlier than I want to go. In the end much of this hem-hawing leads up to a rushed trailride with a late start at best, sitting around the campground all day at worst, which I am NOT into.
So, I will announce that I am leaving at a certain time to run a certain trail. If people want to come, they can. If people don't like it, they can do their own thing. Tanya and I will go run alone, but we are there to 'wheel.
And believe it or not, I'm really not *quite* so much of an asshole in person..... I just get frustrated with groups.... no one ever wants to take charge and indecision leads to no action. This is not acceptable for me. If I wanted to do nothing I'd stay home and sit on the couch. If I wanted to over-analyze everything I'd hang out with my step-father everyday. Pick a time, pick a place, and go. It's really not complicated.
:nice voice on: please, pretty pretty please strongly, seriously consider installing a CB before attending Moab. It's quite difficult to communicate without one, and bordering on inconsiderate to others IMO if someone has to keep wondering why you didn't come around the next corner, or why you're stopped, etc etc. Merely a suggestion! :nice voice off:
Dustin 07-18-2003, 07:53 PM damn a little bitter are we?:lolup
I totaly agree tho, sometimes a large group sucks to get together to do one thing. I think we had the perfect amount of people last time we went with only 4 trucks. Im driving all the way up there to wheel and thats what I plan on doing, Im sure as hell not driving 400miles to sit around and do nothing.
that reminds me Im going to go fix my cb today since I tore up my cable on terminator last time
BoulderBronco 07-18-2003, 09:13 PM Originally posted by Keith_L

Damn straight! No whining and all that crap, lets go bash are trucks on some rocks. I am with ya all the way. I am not going to sit in the sand, I am going to wheel. Sure it's nice to take a break but no whining. If people whine about the sand or the weather they should just pack up, their 100 foot long air conditioned trailer and leave. Keith you set a time for Monday and I'll be with ya assuming I am there by Monday morning.
96bronco 07-24-2003, 12:25 AM Keith is right about the CB... I went on exactly one group trail ride w/o one and it sucked for everyone including me...probably me most of all.....just do it..
You don't have to go all in the $$ department, just get a cheap one. They are super easy to install...
BoulderBronco 09-04-2003, 01:08 AM Hey Keith. I am looking forward to the Moab trip and have a couple questions. Hope you don't mind. I looked at the 2BB page and saw a number of people have registered but it does not give any other info. I am going to camp at the sites at the slickrock bike trail and fins n' things. I don't like camping in rv parks. But I was wondering what registering entailed. I am happy to do it but I was hoping to get some more information. Have you decided when you are heading there? It's gonna be fun.
Dustin 09-04-2003, 02:33 AM hey chris glad to hear you will be joining us. Im probaly going to be staying at the moab inn at least part of the time since scott and I will be there earlier than the rest of the group. Im should be there saterday night some time and leave early thursday morning. scott and I plan on wheeling on sunday if your there, you are welcome to join us if you are there on sunday.

Right now it's just putting your name on the webpage above. Shawn has reserved one group site, I assume he'll settle up with people then.
Crazed 09-04-2003, 02:53 PM I need to get pulled off of the list....
I wanted to go...
I thought I would be going with my new engine in the bronco, but things are taking Way too long...No way the old weezer would make it there, wheel, then make it back home.:banghead
Oh well, maybe next year.:cry
TTBlows 09-04-2003, 04:46 PM Also guys see this link:

BoulderBronco 09-04-2003, 09:10 PM I just signed up at 2BB. Looks like there are twenty so far. Not bad at all. I signed up for the group camping because I might be by myself and figured it would be much more fun hanging out with everyone. Keith do you know when you are heading out.

Not exactly. Either Friday, Saturday or Sunday LOL
Fireguy50 09-07-2003, 12:22 AM Be honest....
If I were to show up with my:
open diff front and rear
TTB front
235 tires
both swap bars intack
and more horsepower than I should legally have....
Would I just be nuisance?
Should I just permanently attach the tow strap to the front?
I might have more free time than I should have with work piss'n me off lately. Might be un/self/employed :banghead
Dustin 09-07-2003, 12:36 AM there is always an extra seat to ride in if you want to make the trip.
It all depends on the trails we run, which I dont think will be set until we get there and see what kind of rigs show up. there are defently trails there in moab that you can run with a mild rig, but dont ask me Ive only been there once :shrug

Well........I dunno. There are no loading dock ramps around out there. Will you know what to do? :goodfinge
Just kidding! The P235 tire thing is discouraging.......there are plenty of easier trails you could do in Moab...but I suspect most of our group will be modified in some fashion. Like Dustin said, you could always ride with others when we do harder stuff.
BoulderBronco 09-07-2003, 01:19 AM Hey Ryan. If you want to go, go. I like to think that these kind of events are for any Bronco owner regardless of their rigs capability. I would bet there will be a couple Broncos that are close to if not stock, with the exception of huge horses. But if not, I am more than happy to do an easier trail so you can have some fun. Don't get me wrong though I am doing some tough stuff to. I may be going by myself so my passenger seat would be free if you wanted a ride. It's all about fun and carnage.:goodfinge
Fireguy50 09-07-2003, 01:48 AM Originally posted by Keith_L

Yeah, and my truck couldn't even make it to the top of that ramp. I had to shift into 4WD, I went up and up, then the front diped down. rear tire cam off the ground, and spinnnnnnnn
Maybe some day, if I pay real close attention to all the pics uncle Keith has on-line. I can build be a real mean rig. Then (just maybe) I'll have the coolest loading dock ramp rig in the whole world.
:cry the love I get from you guys :cry
Yeah I'll show up if I end up un(self)employeed Monday.
I'll try not to be a trail anchor
Will there be any stuff where you need an idiot to hold a strap in an atempt to keep a rig from going end over end down a clif????
Can I NOT be that idiot? :brownbag

I bet there will be a couple instances like that. I for one don't want to roll and when there is someone who can keep me on my feet I take advantage of it. I have tried tip-over-challenge on Hells Revenge three times now and have failed each time. It's along story but that is one point where one could roll if not done correctly. Even then it is close.

I never had to use a strap in moab on the trails we ran, my buddy on the other had used one on his amigo to keep from going over backwards, but he was playing on side hill next to tipover challange. In some places it helps alot to have a good spotter to help you out on some of the tippy narrow sections.
I remember hearing that tipover challange was hard but I didnt have a problem with it at all :shrug
I think ryan could run fins and things couldnt he? oh yeah dont be scared of dragging the bumpers and body modifications:toothless

Sure. He might get hung up in one or two spots but it is a pretty easy trail. Ryan, like Dustin said, don't be scared of dragging bumpers. That is what they are for.

Dustin, I was thinking of that.....but 235's AND sway bars is a double whammy. Nathan ran it with 31's and no sway bars.... he dragged his bumpers pretty good in a few spots. It'll be a bit harder with 235's......but if Ryan is ok with a little minor damage he could do it.
Dustin 09-07-2003, 06:32 PM yeah I hit my rear bumper on that trail also, come to think of it i hit it on every trial.
how about you steal some 31s or something and slap on there for the run:toothless I got one 33 you can have it you can find the rest..lol
basically ryan it comes down to if you are not afraid to get a little damage to the ride, but like I said earlier Im sure there will be extra seats if you want to come, plus we can make you take all the pictures and spot everyone:goodfinge
OldBlue 09-07-2003, 06:59 PM dustin, I wanna come. think there are gonna be enough extra seats for me? I dont wanna run the bronco. :-\. BTW when you guys come thru if you hit salt lake we could all meet up if nothing else.
Dustin 09-07-2003, 08:13 PM my buddy is going with me and Im not sure if I wil have my rear seat in or not, I can probaly work with the sit in tho.
Im coming from arizona so I wont go through salt lake

Body damage :shrug It's rusting away anyway. Don't care too much, I have more spray paint at home.
Bumper :lolup my front bumper as far up as anyone can put it without having NO bumper

Rear bumper, I'd love to mess up the stock rear bumper, so then I'd have more reason to build a better one.

BoulderBronco 09-10-2003, 02:04 AM Lucky me. I am only 100 miles away. Gas is $2.15 here though.
