The best place for transmitting and recieving would be where the cab meets the topper. It could take lots of damage there though. I've got mine where the fender meets the hood, half way between the window and front of the hood. Don't mount too close to the window,it will screw up reception.

yeah i thought with it being on top with 35s and later 7 " lift it would get pretty screwed from trrees

so i was thinking dual on the hood about 1.5 feet from the winsheild

(also those radius arms would they pass inspection?, and how long after i say to start lift can it be done?)

Cool article. On my truck, I'm sticking the antenna on the passanger side bottom of the cab (ball mount) with at least a 6' whip. It's a shortbed stepside though.

"If you have bought a CB with all the bells and whistles, look close, you may have a SWR meter built-in. Actually, other than a public address function, a built-in SWR meter is the only gadget built into a CB that might justify spending more money."

the SWR meter built in to the most (if not all) radios are inaccurate (the techs that build the radios don't take the time to tune them well).
Get the $35 radio shack SWR meter to tune with, but it isn't very good a reading power though.

Found this site a few years back when I first got into cb installs and offroading.

Tons of great info. For you guys doing a dual antenna setup there are some specs you will need to know.

I'd suggest the drivers side... with it on the passenger side you'll be trimming trees when you park. But that may not be a problem where you live...

How many times will we dig up threads about mounting antennas? I've seen at least 3 different ones this week.

Hey guy don't run duals on a truck this small, the antenna would be to close to each other and cause interferance. Stick to a single whip/fiberglass and mount it so the bottom 6 inches is out of the way of gettin hit. I made a spot with a BFH on my rear bumper just below rear left tail light. :goodfinge

another thing not mentioned is that the dual antennas(like on semis) must be located at least 8 feet appart(why semis have them mounted on the doors by the mirrors usually) or else you do not get the optimal output

I looked around the articles, but didn't see anything mentioning the cons of doing side view mirror mount. Anybody know of any?
