Has anybody run mine sweeper. the trail is located five miles outside of Salidia colorado. I am making a trip that way to do old chinamans gultch, and maybe grizzley lake, and Ironchest. Mine sweeper is the only trail i do not know about. Any thoughts and Pics would be much appriciated.

From pics I think it looks sweet! Try searching colorado4x4.org, the Ram-V guy in the blue Dodge has some great pics, or at least used to

minesweep is super short.

The first obstacle is going to be rough on a fullsize vehicle.

Thats really the only obstacle.

I ran it 3 years ago for the first time.

a buddy of mine who was very familiar with the trail wanted to see how fast he could do it. Mind you, he has a full blown buggy (coilovers, tub chassis, 42" tires, Big block)

He ran the whole thing in just over 12 minutes. :shocked :wacko

heres the entrance/first obstacle

I think Iron Chest is devoid of obstacles. Ridgerunners has been trying to adopt it and restore it to it's former nastyness. I don't know about minesweeper but I'll ask at the next meet. Is it about 5 miles east of Salida on 50? If so, getting past that first obstacle, as posted here, would be a tight fit for an FSB. Looks to put you into the rock at the right.

Our club president says that the forest service has no interest in Iron Chest. The road is mostly owned by the mine claims there and the forest service only runs a part of it. Just repeating what I think I heard at a meeting a couple of month ago. I've never seen it or run it.

Yeah, I called the local FS office up there once to ask about status (open/closed) and they told me they don't even recognize Iron Chest as a road, something like that.

I'll pass that along at the club meet tonight! The forest service is not cooperating!
