Thanks Bronkzilla 05-13-2003, 01:18 PM no spacers for the tank.. the tank is attached to the frame.. http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2069 78bronco460 05-13-2003, 05:07 PM I've been all around that one, and ended up using a 19 gallon tank out of a truck. It's a tradeoff for sure, but it was worth it to me. http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/963/605/Bumper2.JPG I gained 7" of clearance and since my 33 gallon tank only held 23, I lost 4 gallons capacity. My second choice would have been to use a Bronco 25 gallon tank and build a real skid plate. This was cheaper, but not easier. Lonestar_Bronco 05-14-2003, 09:26 AM Yeah, whats up with that? my tank only holds 25 or so. I've got a 33gal pickup unit to go in, thought maybe that was the problem. What got me to thinking was that the skid plate mounts to the frame. How does a 33gal tank mount? I mean, if one was to body lift the truck, wouldn't you also be able to lift the tank? Hello LS, The Skid Plate on a 33 gal tank holds up the tank to the frame. So you will be good to go on the body lift. 94bronco 05-14-2003, 06:35 PM Yeah, whats up with that? my tank only holds 25 or so. I've got a 32 gal tank with a 3" body lift and the tank is mounted to the frame and didn't move only the body moves up not the frame and tank? 78bronco460 05-14-2003, 06:51 PM I don't know about the 32 gallon tanks. It seems you've got a 94 and we're talkin 78's here. 78/9's came with 25 or 33 gallon gas tanks. Frame mounted with straps on top and a wraparound skid plate on the bottom. A body lift would give room to fab up some mounts to raise it a few inches, I was thinking maybe enough to use a 25 gallon skid plate on a 33 gallon tankor just getting a 25 gallon up and fab a skid plate. More lift body or otherwise just isn't an option for me. It would be a sure rollover. So after I caved in my 2 year old 33gal. tank on the rocks, I went another route. 94bronco 05-14-2003, 09:45 PM My bad 78, I thought all bko's came with a 32 tank, (learn something new everyday) Back to the point, you were correct that with the body lift you have extra room and can modify the skid plate and raise the tank. That would make it easier with the body lift anyways because you don't have to change the filler tube. |
