View Full Version : Cheney hits back!
Iolaus 06-26-2004, 03:31 AM See where Cheney told Leahy to f#@k off for attacking his integrity and then acting like good buddies? That's about as close to calling him out for a duel as you can legally get these days. :boxing ...and when asked about it in public, Cheney said he didn't regret saying it. :clap :clap :clap
What did Leahy do? Whined like the sniveling little weasel that he is. :goodfinge ...and he still hasn't defended or substantiated what he originally said about the VP.
If you follow politics and know anything about Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, you know he had it coming. :twak
I've heard more about it on talk radio, but here's the original story.

RicksBronco 06-26-2004, 10:04 AM Hey karma we have a freedom to believe what you want, and i have no problem with your opinion, but the same thing can be said if you just replace rebuplican for democrat and change the names.
:usa BUSH '04 :usa
Iolaus 06-26-2004, 02:39 PM Cheney and Bush are god damned money loving theives that are taking our liberties away and are sending this country in the wrong direction. Those of you who blindly follow them and support them are goddamn morons. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that you graduated from the public (read liberal democrat run) school system, and that you haven't actually paid taxes yet, but if you ever start making a real "living wage" (as in paying for housing, food, etc, and build up retirement savings) you will be in a 30-50% tax bracket. That's your money that's being taken from you without your consent. Then look at all the entitlements the government is spending your money on. Welfare, social security, medicare, foreign aid, low interest loans for immigrants, education for illegal aliens, art grants for cow shit on paintings, research grants for the sex life of fruit flys... the list is endless.
The majority of the programs were begun by democrats.
The subject of how living in a welfare state affects the general industriousness of the people is a whole different discussion, but you could start by investigating the economies of England and western Europe.
The biggest loss of liberty you will experience in your personal life will be the ability to enjoy the hard earned fruits of your own labor. The government will take your money and give it to people who; 1) have made poor choices in their lives and don't want to deal with the consequences, or 2) are simply too lazy to do it for themselves.
God knows republicans aren't perfect, and I do have serious misgivings about the "Patriot act", but in the larger picture, the democrats have done vastly more damage to the country than the republicans.
Iolaus 06-26-2004, 02:42 PM Excerpts from the Washington Post this morning;
Vice President Cheney on Friday vigorously defended his vulgarity directed at a prominent Democratic senator earlier this week in the Senate chamber.
Cheney said he "probably" used an obscenity in an argument Tuesday on the Senate floor with Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) and added that he had no regrets. "I expressed myself rather forcefully, felt better after I had done it," Cheney told Neil Cavuto of Fox News. The vice president said those who heard the putdown agreed with him. "I think that a lot of my colleagues felt that what I had said badly needed to be said, that it was long overdue."
Cheney said yesterday he was in no mood to exchange pleasantries with Leahy because Leahy had "challenged my integrity" by making charges of cronyism between Cheney and his former firm, Halliburton Co. Leahy on Monday had a conference call to kick off the Democratic National Committee's "Halliburton Week" focusing on Cheney, the company, "and the millions of dollars they've cost taxpayers," the party said.
"I didn't like the fact that after he had done so, then he wanted to act like, you know, everything's peaches and cream," Cheney said. "And I informed him of my view of his conduct in no uncertain terms. And as I say, I felt better afterwards."
Leahy, crossing the aisle to the Republican side of the chamber Tuesday, tried to make small talk with Cheney. Cheney yesterday referred to the incident as "a little floor debate in the United States Senate," although the Senate was not in session at the time. According to Leahy's staff, the Vermont senator answered Cheney's complaint about Halliburton with Democrats' complaints that the White House sanctioned a smear of Catholic Democratic senators over their objections to Bush's judicial nominees.
"Ordinarily I don't express myself in strong terms, but I thought it was appropriate here," Cheney said on Fox.

And what if I get drafted because of Bush's fiasco.
BTW I apologize about the outburst, it was a long night last night.
:banghead
Iolaus 06-26-2004, 03:46 PM And what if I get drafted because of Bush's fiasco. There are bills being circulated in both the house and the senate to reinstate the draft (there is no draft at the current time) but as far as I know, every one of the sponsers of those bills are democrats, not republicans.
Registration for the draft was ended in '75 under Gerald Ford, a republican president, and reinstated under Jimmy Carter, a democratic president.
It seems to me, the democrats are more of a threat to your liberty there as well.
bAdKARma88 06-26-2004, 03:59 PM There wouldn't be any bills or rumors of drafts if we weren't in Iraq, now would there?
Iolaus 06-26-2004, 04:30 PM Whether or not the war in Iraq is justified or not is a different subject. The current subject is the threat to your liberties.
The point is, the republicans want to reward volunteers for chosing military service by raising wages and increasing benefits thereby rewarding them for the increased risks. The democrats just want to drag unwilling citizens (you) from their current lives and force them into military service at low pay and few benefits.
Regardless of whether it's this war, or one you do opprove of, which system would you rather live with?
bAdKARma88 06-26-2004, 05:33 PM I'd rather be drugged out against my will to fight for something with a rightful cause than be payed off to risk my life for somebody's personal interests.
SSgtTEX 06-26-2004, 06:01 PM what personal interests. OIL? if it was about oil then why the hell are the damn gas prices so high. This is a rightful cause. I guess you wouldnt know anything about that obviously. We were attacked, we went to afghanistan. We received intel, that Saddam was stockpiling weapons. He was commited crimes against humanity, and he was shooting at OUR AIRCRAFT. 10 damn years. That is pretty big justification for us to go in there. Hell Bosinia, Kosovo, Somolia, and Panama had a lot less reasons for us to go in there. Only reason was crimes against humanity and genocide. NO ONE throughs a fit over those and says we shouldnt be there. We have been in Bosnia since 96. Still there. all you here is oh we are in Iraq. Soldiers die there too. but you dont here that. I guess ignorance is bliss. im sorry but, open your eyes and look around you. This isnt some war Bush is starting to go get oil. Hell we are rebuilding their country with OUR money, not taking theirs for us. And we still arent there cause Bush sr "didnt finish the job"
Iolaus 06-26-2004, 06:07 PM I'd rather be drugged out against my will to fight for something with a rightful cause If you thought it was a righteous cause, and your service was needed, you wouldn't have to be dragged out. You would volunteer.
...Would't you?
