anyone here shoot bow? traditional or compound..mild to wild, what you guys shoot?

unfortunatly i havent ever been bowhunting, just for lack of time and practice, with a recurve if u dont practice..u cant exact to hit anything :toothless, i havent shot in like 6months at least, we belong to a club...but its an hour a way, have a nice range, just its kinda far away for a daily thing

just checknig to see if anyone else shot archery..traditional archery has to be the hardest hunting out there, no question about it..30 yards max, close up..silent, no letoff, all skill and feel for the weapon and range, gotta love it

handgun post made me think of this..just thought id see who else was out there

I used to shoot, years and years ago. I still have the bow - an old Oneida Eagle, compound recurve. One of the recurves split, and I gave up looking for a replacement, so it's been in my closet forever. First learned on a recurve... that sure took alot of practice, and shoulder strength

yea..definitly need more brute strength for recurves, unless i practice alot, that 50 pound PSE Coyote Recurvewill kick my ass lol, my PSE Optima recruve is more of a practice bow than a hunting bow like the Coyote, set at 35 pounds, longer, more give to it, etc, fun to shoot though..glad i got little arrows, even at 35 pounds my recurve can make em fllllyy, 35 grain tips i believe..havent tipped any arrows in forever, not for sure, and 1716 shafts, along with real feather vanes, and glue-on nocks..those suckers arent rated above 30lbs i think..and i have a longer than 28 inch draw..plus 35 pound draw weight, and the 50# bow is just..OVERKILL on that arrow..hit the target, and u get a nice THUMP and get it to wiggle, penetrate about 6 inches into the high density foam deer from 30 yards, not bad for a recurve with aluminum shafts lol, but hit anything but the target(ive lost about 10 never to be seen again)..or hit anything solid..and ur spending 5 more bucks in arrow lol

edit:jsut checked out my compounds..have a proline "breaking point" bow..never shot it, bought it cheap from a garage sale, like 20 bucks, all the markigns and stuff are worn out, but its probably a 90+ model from the looks..all carbon riser and limbs, feels about 65 pull, dunno?

also...a late 70s solid metal bear compound bow, abuot 29 inch pull, and 35-65 adjustable pull...wish i woudl get off my ass and make this a bowfishing setup for the spring, gotta love bottom feeders :toothless

majorly into archery hunting and 3d shoots. planning a couple trips to the high peaks region of the adirondacks to hunt black bear with a bow. opens 9-18. i love martin bows. i have 2 phantomsII one with nitrous x for comp. shooting and one with fuzion cam for hunting. i also have a pse for hunting and a york that i use for carp shooting.
i just received a couple of maps from the d.e.c. of the area that they are working to radio coller and tag problem bears. they want to reduce the number of bears in the peaks so they have been helping me with info. the bears have been bluff chargeing hikers and campers to get them to give up their food. the bears learned that if they pretend to run at the hikers that they will drop or throw the food they carry to them.
the more brazen the bears become in getting food from people the more danger the bears and people are in

I used to live and breathe bowhunting until it took my left shoulder out. I miss the simplicity and challenge. Ive still got my old PSE hanging in the shop <...in need of a string by now , Im sure> I took up handgunning in place of archery. Its a tad less severe on the shoulder.

Ive been bow huntin a few times and I dont really give a shit about bow huntin because its always too hot to get out and bowhunt. But since I have nothin else to do I shoot a PSE Nova Dan Fitzgerald Edition. 28"draw, 65lb draw weight, 65% letoff, shoots around 260 somethin fps. Its a tack driver with Gold Tip 5575 Carbon arrows. Im shootin 90gr muzzy Bad to the Bones broadheads. I have killed a rabbit with a bow before, o'course the little mother****er ran off after being shot with the broadhead still in it. So there goes $15. I'm thinkin about goin to Crimson Talon broadheads or Crimson Raptors, OR Steel Force broadheads with the serrated blades.

Dont know how old this post is but DONT GO TO CRIMSON TALONS!!!!!!!!! The bades have a bad habit about breaking and on archerytalk they live and eat bows like you all do broncos and they will not hunt with them. Said the broadheads looked good on paper but performed horribly.

I shoot a Browning lightning at about 250-275fps it has a 33" axle to axle length and besides that it is a great bow. The shorter bows just arent as easy handling. Also into bowfishing but I think I need a buddy cause I get kinda lonely out on the dock by myself. lol.

Oh yeah pulling about 67 pounds very easily but thinking about backing it of to 64-65 with 80% letoff I am currently constantly holding 13 pounds :brownbag and my bowfishing bow is an older darton that is as low as I am going to adjust it because I am afraid the adjustment screws dont have much left lol I also use an AMS retreiver reel thing the one with the bottle that lets the string go with no resistance, works very well. I am also into magnum air rifles. RWS 34 .177 cal shooting in the mid 900's, hell on pigeons.

i have a 22/.177 cal pellet gun..should pointed pellets, hell on starlings ;)

got a 3-7x tasco scope on my main .177 caliber pellet rifle..low profile scope..cheap..and works great

at abotu 30 yards i can see the beak moving and watch as my bullet hits it's head..gotta eliminate pest birds some-way, city doesnt do anything about it, gotta love homemade pest control ;)
