Somewhere, sometime, I heard, "The truth will out!" And so it shall.

I'll add a personal anecdote. I got a grenade fragment in my right side in Laos in '59. A couple of stitches from the MACV medic and no lost time. No PH. No Bronze Star or any other medal for killing the kid that threw it. That's the way things were. Period!

I resent that medal-hunting SOB and he pisses me off in a royal way. President? No way!

Okay. I got it off my chest.

You got my support on that! When I went in, in '86, the Infantry was different than it is today. (This is just for reference, not to detract from your service, sir.) We would hump all day and all night, and sleep in the field! In sight of the damn barrocks! In the damn rain! And it was COLD out!

The unit from which I just retired are deployed in Afg. right now. I hear tell that they sent word home via e-mail (Christ, they got e-mail over there?? :shrug ) that they were starved for Cool-Aid, pogie bait and mail! My reply was pretty much "Fawk them pu$$ies! They just set foot in the sand and want comforts already?" These ladies dont want to get deployed where theres no Holiday Inn and Wal-Mart close by. To me that equals pu$$ies.

Ive gotten my fair share of medals and awards, none of which I strived to receive as that being the goal, nor did I expect to receive them, NOR DID I ASK FOR THEM.

Dohno about this Kerry dude, something just aint freggin right in the picture. Id rather have Bush for another term than him, but theres no one that would really make me happy that has ran in the last 15+ years. So.. were stuck with, as usual, the lesser of the 2 evils. :wacko

Anyway Marv, from one vet to another, I salute you sir! Horrah!

"The letter claims the ad is "false and libelous" "

Ok , let me see if I got this right . If Kerry sues and wins , this means the republicans backing the ads are lying . And this makes Kerry a bad guy ? :duh

Now all the shit about Bush being a deserter and going AWOL that has been pasted around by the democrats ( to the best of my knowledge ) has never been challenged in a court of law ..............so it must be true . :clap

At least Kerry is holding their feet to the fire for telling lies ! If he does drag them to court and wins ............ it will definitely make for some great reading . :chili:

Kerry brought his Vietnam record up big time at the convention to show that he was qualified to "...lead the country..." That makes it fair game and now it's up to him to defend it. His lawyers gotta threaten to sue, but I'll bet they don't 'cause then they'd have to expose everything in court. He still hasn't released his medical records for his PH's.

Actually, it's been disproven in so many areas that most dems with sense won't mention it anymore. You only hear this from the far radical left anymore.

Kerry brought his Vietnam record up big time at the convention to show that he was qualified to "...lead the country..."

If Kerry considered it that important to have some military service, why would he pick Edwards who has none? Truth is Kerry is just another career politician who's done next to nothing in the Senate for 12 years and 4 months in Vietnam is about all he has to talk about.

When giving a speech, the first sentence is to draw attention to the theme of your speech - Speech 101!

"John Kerry, reporting for duty!"

He who threatens with lawyers first has something to hide.

Kerry's campaign has no grounds to challenge the accuracy of the ad. The dead giveaway is that Kerry's lawyers are threatening the stations that broadcast the ad with possible lawsuits, not the folks that made the ad.

The letter says, "The statements made by the 'phony' crewmates and 'doctor' who appear in the advertisement are also totally, demonstrably and unequivocally false and libelous."

Why then are the producers of the ad not being sued? The answer goes like this: if you want to put your competitor out of business but can't out-compete him, threaten the people who buy his products.

Hmmmmm. Desperate men do desperate things.

The irony here is that the more Kerry fusses about this ad, the more credibility he assigns to it. If it was false, he'd go to court, get a restraining order, and kick their collective asses.

Face it, this thing terrifies Kerry, as well it should. The irony is that the democrats whine about our freedoms allegedly being under attack as a result of the Patriot Act. Clearly, for most democrats, freedom of speech is a great thing... as long as it's only extended to them.

Another irony is that the Kerry lawyers might just be committing slander. They referred to his phony crewmates when they weren't actual crewmates, but men who served on other boats that cruised the rivers along with him at the same time. But by referring to them in that way casts aspersion on their reputations.

One thing more to think about; is this a preview of what the lawyers are going to do when the November election vote tallies come in? What would happen if frivolous law suits go past the January 20th inauguration date and nobody is declared? They almost did the last time.

:How does that follow?

It would be below the Office of the President to sue people for what they say about him.

In my opinion, the President has shown a lot of class in the way he has reacted (on not) to all the "slings and arrows" that have been thrown at him since the beginning of his first campaign. :thumbup

The fact that Kerry is already screaming "I'm gonna sue" instead of simply answering the accusations show a total lack of class, and worse, a high degree of insecurity. A trait I don't think is condusive to the successful leadership of a country.

Kerry's campaign has already shown two disturbing things.

A campaign based in part on the record of a "war hero" - dubious at best. And a premature willingness to sue over vote counts in multiple states to gain the White House if necessary.
