Right now my cell is 580-513-4013 but I have been told I will have to change it to a 580-465-???? number by May 15. US cellular had some agreement with SWB and now, SWB says they want all the cell numbers local in one town only. Unless I want my number local in Durant, it has to change. I really am itching to go wheeling if you guys want to get together. Unfortunatley the Hulk is down for awhile longer. I would like to get some guys together and head out to Clayton. Call me if you get together and do something mild. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that my wife drives and it is itching to do some trail running. If you PM me on this site I'll get the e-mail but as you may have noticed sometimes I go for weeks without checking too much. I've been pretty busy lately. Thanks for thinking of me. Jess

Went up to Disney today.. Lilysdad you should of joined us.. it was from the other forums that we had the trail run.. You would of had as much fun as me trying to wind your way through the tight trails.. I smacked a tree with my mirror and dented my door all up.. but should come out..

When is Oklahoma gonna have a trail run??

Disney is an easy 3 or 4 hrs from here, kinda makes it a little hard to just go. I do need to go sometime. I am going to Gilmer TX/ Barnwell Mountain next month, about the same distance for me.

Welcome to the site skued, I just came back from down that way a few weeks ago. You guys got some great trails down there......Fog

1911....I think I know who you are talking about, he joined the trailchasers shortly after I did...He's a little strange but a nice enough guy I guess.... Did he get a ticket again??? And what trails are you talking about?? I've never heard of any out that way....Fog

1911copper
08-25-2003, 09:30 AM
Yeah, he's pretty easygoing, and the guy is CRAZY with some of the stuff he tries in that 4runner.
Like I said, the trails are about 1/4 mile south of the canadian river bridge off of Macarthur. (south of Reno) I got to it by driving east from Macarthur at some business there, but I don't think you'd get away with it during the week. Justin said he came in from the north by crossing the river in his truck. There is a shallow spot with a build up of medium sized rocks that looks passable, but I don't know where to go to come in from that north end.

I just realized that I haven't put in any clarification on the spot that I've been four-wheeling at lately.

Went out friday and found a better way into the area. You can access it by going about a mile south of Reno on Macarthur, south of the Canadian River bridge, to a dirt trail that runs east from Macarthur right accross the street from 7-11. Its kind of rough going, though, if you don't have a lot of lift like me, since some trucks with big lifts (I'm assuming) have been through there when it was muddy and dug some really deep ruts in the trail. I have to drive between the ruts and be careful not to slip into them, or my truck will be dragging on the transfer case shield.
Anyway, I found a much easier way in Friday. You can go to S. Meridian and Enterprise Drive, drive west on Enterprise, and it goes right into the dirt area on the north shore of the river. If you go about a half mile down, you will find a shallow spot in the river with rocks where you can cross the river pretty easily. Then, if you continue west on the south side of the shore, you'll come to the hills, if you like to climb steep hills. (I do)

If you like mudding, right as you cross over to the south shore, to your left, there is a place where the river branches off into a creek, and there are trails there where mud-crazy folks drive down into the creek and come out the other side, climbing the opposite bank.
This is the only place around the OKC area that I know of to off road, legally. I had found a really cool spot about 2.5 miles west down the river, but I only made it down there once, as the second time I tried to go down there, I was told in no uncertain terms that it was private property and I was NOT to be there. I've tried to find another way in without tresspassing on anyone's property, but I have never been able to find one.

Anyone else know of any trails in the OKC area?

Foghorn
10-01-2003, 09:06 AM
Hey 1911-
If you don't mind the drive, there are some trails out by lake draper that are legal and kinda fun.... The club I'm in is taking a run down to Kinta, OK this month. Trails are anywhere from stocker to "freaking crazy" Wanna go???---Fog

1911copper
10-01-2003, 12:21 PM
Where's Kinta?
I'd like to know where the legal trails (I heard they're issuing $250.00 cites at Draper for the illegal kind) are at Draper. I'll give you a call and maybe you can show me where they are some time in the next couple of weeks.

Foghorn
10-01-2003, 02:25 PM
I wonder if they closed the trails out there then??? It's be awhile since I've been there..I know the dirt bikers still go there but maybe they clsed it to trucks.......

Here's a link to mapquest of the Kinta area...It really a nice area, good scenery and decent trails.....

The quick and easy answer is yes they have started to close trails and the main drag between douglas and draper road is now paved. I haven't exhausted all normal areas of exploration as of yet so some trials may still be dirt.

Rpresentin for OKLAHOMA. I'm in always between Tulsa to Tahlequah, but mostly Broken Arrow. If you see a big ass green EB around the 61st and memorial area that's me at work. Or if you see a big ass Brotha rollin, holla at me.(and by brotha I mean black)

Oklahoma has the best wheelin, and the best MFers drivin.

Let's hear what you guys think is the best 4WD shop in OK. I use to work for 4WP in OKC and I also use to run Chris Nickle's off road in Tulsa. I don't think either of those would be on my list though.

Where exactly do you work now? My job has me drive all over Tulsa and surrounding areas.

As far as best 4x4 shop. I have to go with Danny's Differentials\Down And Dirty Offroad on 46th just west of memorial.

I used to prefer talking to Jr. rather than Mr. Nikel. Jr. stood up to Mr. Nikel for me one time when I was accused of breaking one of the ceiling tiles while I was running some phone cable at the offroad center. I always thought Jr. was pretty easy going compared to his father.

I thought that was you. My name is Richard, I came up with Kevin and ordered my lift, I think I ordered some other things from you as well. He is working as a parts man at David Stanley Chevy on I-240 now. My Bronco has changed alot since then, it now has 42" tsls, 60 front and 14 bolt rear, 4.88 gears, full cage, and I am in the process of tapering the rear 14" on each side. Next thing will be to link the front and get rid of the radius arms. So you have a early Bronco and a fullsize now?

No one was suppose to remember that. Yea that was me. You were in the F150 right. My insurance paid me 1200 for that top. I top them I was driving down a back country road and a low hanging tree limb got me. Those trails at draper county as a back country road don't they.

New member from oklahoma checking in... Cameron, OK to be exact. Hey, next time ya'll are planning a Camp Gruber trip I'm in. I camp at Greenleaf during deer season and hunt over off Machine Shop Rd. but I've never been wheeling in the ORV there.

Welcome.

Where is Cameron at?

I will be planning a run for this summer at Disney for sure, but I think we might be able to get something together at Gruber this year also.

I knew some guys from Denton that would go to Mineral Wells on the weekends, most of them had H1's, but there were a few jeeps and pickups that would go to. I used to have some picks of one of the H1's buried to it's skid plate out there...

It's in Eastern OK... Leflore Co., about 15 mins North of Poteau, or 20 mins South West of Fort Smith, AR. Where is Disney?
